Lovely cabin, very clean, modern and comfortable. The river beach is a 10 minute stroll from cabin 1. Other cabins are slightly further away as the cabin numbers go up.
The kitchen was very modern and had all the utensils one would need for a comfortable long stay.
The modern technology like AC, thermostat, have lights that do not turn off at night and make the bedroom too bright to sleep, luckily I had some painters tape and it hid 80% of the lights' brightness.
My small car could park right close to the stairs so loading and unloading was quick.
The river is slow flowing with shallow waters so safe for kids to wade around in.
There were 5 quail, many chicken and 2 ducks wandering around the property in the evening when we arrived.
Lots of thought and investment went into this property and I wish more places like this existed.

Just got done with a five night stay here. It was my third visit in the last two years. I’ve stayed about a week each time. This time I brought my girlfriend to see this wonderful place I discovered.||||I really enjoy this property! I’ve left two rather extensive reviews with photos if you go back to previous reviews from the previous two Octobers. I also have video reviews on YouTube if you search for ‘whiskey on the river’ Therefore, I won’t go into too much detail as you can go back and read my other reviews and view photos where I already gave them.||||This year, again, for the third time, I got Cabin 6. Almost feels like my own private cabin at this point!||||Slight problem at check-in as we had been flying down from Maine and it took eight hours with two connections followed by a three hour drive to get here. ||||We arrived around 9 PM and there is nobody on site who works here after hours to check-in with. You use a digital keypad entry code they send you to get into your cabin.. ||||Exhausted we arrived only to find our door code did not work. We called the phone number for the property and were told by whoever answered that she couldn’t help us but would contact somebody who could. ||||We waited about 10 or 15 minutes and finally got a callback just as my phone battery was about to die. That person reset a new code so that we could get in. Kind of annoying when you just want get in after 12 hours of planes, trains and automobiles.||||(Also, make note of the keypad door locks. The first time I stayed here I woke up the next morning after flying in the night before and went out for a cigarette. It was kind of chilly out that morning and I was in my underwear. ||||After being outside for about three minutes, the auto lock locked behind me and I was unable to get inside because I had not memorized entry code! My phone was also locked inside and I couldn’t call for help. Couldn’t drive anywhere because you’re about 8 miles from anywhere and my keys were also locked inside! There is no call box or any way to contact for assistance. I had a potty accident in my underwear that morning because there’s no outhouse either and it was time for the morning number two. But I was stuck outside for an hour and a half before the groundskeeper came back from town that day to find me with my feces covered leg and boxers walking around outside. Embarrassing! ||||During daytime hours there’s usually a groundskeeper around)||||Also, I hate to say it, but when I stayed here two years ago this place had only been open for a couple weeks and was brand new. Everything was in pristine condition. Very nice.||||On my return last year, I noticed lack of basic cleaning and some wear and tear already showing in the cabin. ||||This year, the wear and tear and lack of cleaning attention had increased even more to my disappointment. All kinds of smears and scratches, dings and stains on the walls, spiderwebs inside the cabin and out. Heavy Spiderwebs all over the porch, railings and upper windows. The upstairs windows absolutely filthy with green film. The gas grill also filthy. A cigarette burn hole on the couch. Hairs in the shower.||||After only being open for two years, it’s really a shame basic cleaning and upsweep hasn’t been kept up with. I really fear what this place might look like after another couple years if they don’t get on things like routine cleaning. ||||My other complaint is that I stay here in later October when it starts to get cool at night. ||||All three times I’ve been here I’ve never been able to get the heaters to produce any heat. I’ve had to resort to lighting the gas oven burners to heat the cabin once the sun goes down. This time not only could I get no heat to come out of the heaters. The bedroom AC was stuck and could not be turned off and constantly blew cool 67 degree air into the bedroom all night when temperatures outside were chilly. The thermostat was literally jammed and inoperable in the bedroom. Therefore had to run the gas oven burners all night to stay warm again.||||Two years ago, I was an idiot and broke the glass cover over the gas oven burner rings ten minutes after arriving while heating a frying pan! Let them know what happened and voluntarily offered to pay for the damages, and did pay after they sent me a bill, but they still haven’t even fixed the glass over the oven burner that I broke, but took the money for the repairs. ||||And like all hotels and lodging, the prices increased in this economy. ||||The first two times I stayed here I paid a steal of a deal of only $100 a night but It had gone up to about $140 this year. Nothing too major, but not as good as the deal as the first two years.||||Still a nice place, but I’m just really afraid what this place might look like in a couple more years with the lack of attention to basic maintenance and upkeep and cleaning as I mentioned previously. Such a shame that the place has only been open for two years and people are already beating the place up and they don’t seem to care about keeping it maintained. If they’re going to raise the nightly rates, the place should at least be clean and maintained without spiderwebs inside and out of the cabin. Maybe even wash the upstairs windows occasionally? Make sure previous guests hairs aren’t on the shower wall.

Very clean and organized cabin with modern amenities and surrounded by trees and a slow flowing and seemingly shallow river. There were many chickens, 5 pheasants and a couple of ducks walking around the property. Very rustic and charming. |Patio is relaxing and has a tabletop fireplace for the colder months.||The two ACs worked very, though their lights are a bit too bright for the bedroom, had to cover up the light sources.

Great room, great location! The bed was amazing, and the pillows were soft! Great pizza restaurant on the first floor, too! Check in was simple and easy, they send you your code via text/email, and give you the room number…doesn’t get much easier than that!

Bed is very comfortable but the pillows are too firm for our liking. The room was very nice and clean. It has a mini fridge that stayed cold. However the ice machine was broken at the time of our stay. The room has a safe in it. The balcony is very nice with wicker furniture. The restaurant is awesome has great food and the best customer service.

If you enjoy a rustic outdoor getaway, WOTR is the place to stay! The cabins are amazing, the surroundings are naturally peaceful and you hardly know there's a staff onsite working to keep things running smoothly. We were there for a work assignment, but would go back for a relaxing vacation in a heartbeat!

Beautiful cabin! Cozy and relaxing. Nice bathtub. Full kitchen. Comfy bed. Big balcony patio over looking water and trees with grill. We didn’t get to access the beach because the water was too high. We had neighbors but still felt secluded. We will be back!

very neat place to stay. beats a hotel any day. we rented cabin #2 and 3. one of them did not have a fan that pushes cold air from the minisplit AC to that hot loft. my kids has a miserable experience trying to sleep up their in that heat. this was disappointing. please make sure you ask if your cabin has this or it will ruin a nice experience.
