Village Bakehouse is all about great tasting, fresh food for breakfast or lunch.

We had coffee and pastries! Yum! The Buttermilk Cinnamon Roll was perfection! We also tried the Cinnamon Crunch Roll. The specialty coffees were great.

There was indoor and outdoor seating. It was not a scenic view as it overlooked a busy parking lot.

It felt a bit pricey, but the food was exceptional.

We sat at a table outdoors and waited for our coffee. We were unaware of the process. It appeared that we were to wait inside for our beverages.

I look forward to returning to try their lunch menu.

I've heard their cakes are amazing.

Cake Fail: Expectation vs Reality

I ordered this cake from the “Coraline” movie for my teen sister’s birthday intended as a surprise…and a surprise it was, in the jumpscare kind of way.

After researching custom cakes in the Tucson area, I came across Village Bakehouse. It was well acclaimed in online reviews and notable in local forums. I called to arrange a consultation per the website and was told I could come in, no appointment needed. I went within the next 30 minutes to receive a quote. I shared my desired outcome with pictures and told them I wanted a strawberry flavored cake with strawberry fruit filling. I explicitly expressed I wanted the design to be the same as the picture with the detailing of the lettering and snowflakes. Simple enough, right ? They said they could have it ready by the due date and I felt they addressed my needs so I agreed to their quote, paid, and sent the images via email. Walking out, I felt excited I’d be able to surprise my sister with her dream cake.

To say I’m disappointed would be an understatement. I have a very hectic schedule and wasn’t able to see the cake until I got home from work. The fact that the design was pretty straight forward but the result reflected pure laziness baffled me. It’s not like I ordered this cake two days ahead of time! If they can't fulfill a service, then they need to hold off from providing that service until they can do so at the level at which they advertise they can. I know cakes are work but if you don’t plan to deliver just don’t take orders. After all isn’t this bakery supposed to reflect art at a skilled level ?

I was willing to give grace had it been that the cake tasted as good as reviews mentioned. Again, sadly was not my experience. The cake was on the drier side & the strawberry fruit filling was nonexistent. The fondant used was way too sweet. It was honestly embarrassing presenting this to my family because I had expressed my enthusiasm of the vision turned reality from so-called professional bakery.

I have been visiting for several years. Today we ordered from the menu. We were pleased and left full. The customers make the atmosphere wonderful. Service, the cashier didn’t “know” us so she sped through our ordering process but spent 4 minutes talking about her personal life and that they would be closing for a few weeks in July.
Awkward. I was served my oatmeal with a fork and had to wait 5 minutes when asking for a spoon at the pick up counter. Nothing negative keeping me from going next time. Just hope they can treat each customer as a gem and respect they will come again.

If you are looking to step out of the hustle and bustle of the day-to-day business, and enjoy a breakfast or a pastry in an inclusive, positive environment, this is the place you have been looking for.

The Village Bakehouse offers an incredibly broad variety of pastries, a selection of great hot (and cold drinks) and, perhaps most importantly, a service with a smile. You will find that while the indoor space is a little tiny, it is cozy and inviting, and at the outdoor patio there is plenty of seating -- under heated spots, even for a cooler day.

The breakfast tacos seem to be the thing to do in the mornings, but cannot fault anything that I have had here. 🙂

I bought my Thanksgiving pies from Village Bakehouse and they were the best pies we have had in years. Often bakeries make their pies so sweet that you can’t taste the fruit. Their pies were slightly sweetened, meaning the pies had more flavor. They were perfect for my family. Thanks for the great pies!

The “Cranberry Apple “ Pie is exaggerating good, all there pies are great. This one is very light and the perfect blend of Sweet and Tart. The Baker deserves to be recognized for this delicious blend. I would definitely recommend this pie 100%
