Beautiful campground, we were there
8.21.24. We have a 21-ft TT, 6-ft wide, and made it through the campground with our size camper. There's a sign that says campers no longer than 28-ft, that's going to be tight, and if you are 8 ft wide, you will more than likely hit your RV on a tree.

This place gets 5 stars from me on aesthetics, privacy, proximity to sights, and host friendliness. The only reason I hesitate on 5 stars is the hornets were more than a nuisance here. We couldn't cook or eat without being inundated with them, hence the need to be prepared with traps or something to reduce the problem. The sites here vary in size and privacy, so look around for what suits you. We had spot 94 and it was both private and spacious and had the lovely background sound of the rushing creek. Water and vault toilets are amply placed, but hold your breath in those toilets! Ack, I had to to keep from vomiting. We had two small children, so we couldn't take long or arduous hikes. Just walking the trails among the campground area was nice. If you cross the bridge by site 85 and follow the trail toward the Rogue River, there is a nice spot where the river widens and is calm enough for swimming or a great spot for fishing. The Rogue River Gorge viewpoints is very nearby as is the Natural Bridge on Union Creek (lava tubes) and easy for little kids. We also tried the Mill Creek Falls site, which is short, but steep in a couple spots. And of course, we visited the Rim Village at Crater Lake. If you like camping not too far from convenience, there is a shop with gifts and groceries just down the road, a cafe, a BBQ pit, and an ice cream shop. Firewood at the store is $7, while it will set you back $9 at the campground.

We decided to stay here for our summer vacation to Crater Lake National Park. It is 17 miles from Crater Lake. It Is a nice campground with shade. It is hot there in July but not miserable. There are a lot of mosquitoes so bring bug spray. There is a fast flowing stream through out the campground which is nice. The bathrooms are vaulted toilets and there are no sinks or showers. There is a bathroom coming into the park that has a sink. The campground has some beautiful large trees. The road is paved through out the campground. There is 2 places to eat within walking distance which is Becki's and a BQ chuckwagon. There is also a general store and an ice cream palor within walking distance too. So if you forget something or do not want to cook there are many options.

This campground is so spread out along both the Rogue River and Union Creek that simply taking a walk over the campground feels like a walk in the forest.||It is simply amazing||We had a sight on the Rogue River and there were almost no other people so it was almost more like wild camping. ||||The path that follows the river is so nice to walk.||And don't forget to go to NAtural Bridge...amazing! ||||The only downside is that there are no showers or flush toilets... you have to be aware of that

I would have given this a full 5 "stars" but due to a conniving and rude "Camp Host", it gets 4. Stopped by on a Wednesday and was told firewood was $8. Went to camp the following day and the "friendly host" now told me: "$9". I said, "Went up a buck overnight, huh?" No answer. Dude acts like you're bothering him and is curt and rude. Why they hired this half-wit to be a "friendly camp host" is beyond me! Jeez, he acts like Mr. Wilson when Dennis the Menace shows up. What a jerk! Bring your own wood but if you do buy from him, burn it all or bring it home because he goes around in his golf cart, gathers up unburned wood and rescalps (sells) it! Isn't there a law..? Other than him, no problems. Beautiful place. Oh, don't show up in anything bigger than a Class C motorhome or trailer longer than 10 or so feet. Why? Some of the trees on the "loops" (one way roads) are only like 9 or 10 feet apart. Getting my 1/2 ton Silverado was no problem but a crappy driver would hit the trees. Corners can be sharp. Some camp parking spots are hardly large enough for a pickup truck, much less a truck/trailer combo. Not the campground for large RV's. The Creek was, at the time, restocked with beautiful and rather large trout every Thursday. Number 18 is a great spot to watch the guys dump about 5 huge net fulls into the creek. A dude from Medford started fishing on Friday next to our spot, casting under the bridge and would usually bring out a fish every cast (salmon eggs and 1 light lead weight) He gave us 2 keepers which we fried in butter for lunch. Very good!

I made a reservation for my family of four (all adults) by looking at the map on the website, and I chose site #95. When we drove in, we saw that only a few sites were actually occupied. The site I reserved was way too small for two tents, and there were emply campsites on either side of us that were available for walk-ins. We went to the camp host and asked if we could change to one of the empty sites but were told that this was against park policy (there was a sign that said this). They told us that we could have one of the empty sites but that we would have to pay for it and would not be able to get a refund for the one that we reserved. We had to squeeze our two tents into a spot that was only adequate for one, and for the entire three days that we were there, no one set up camp at aither of the larger spots that were next door to us. This is an extremely poor policy. Sites 93 and 94, the emply spots next to us, were very nice, but site 95 is too small to be used as a campsite. The campground is nice, but this experience was very frustrating.
