We had an unforgettable stay at Under Canvas Grand Canyon! The tents were cozy and the beds incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The fireplace kept us warm throughout the night, and the clear, easy-to-follow instructions made it simple to use. The separate bathroom facilities were spotless, and the showers provided hot water, which was perfect for those chilly evenings.||||The on-site dining options exceeded our expectations—everything we tried was delicious, and the variety was impressive. In the evenings, we loved gathering around the outdoor fire pits, a wonderful way to relax and meet fellow travelers from all over. This place truly offers the perfect blend of comfort and adventure. We can't wait to come back!

Fantastic retreat! The resort has all that you need and is only a 25 minute drive to the Grand Canyon. We loved our tent (we got the suite) and the peaceful surroundings. The in-tent wood stove provided sufficient heat and was a cozy touch. The resort staff are very professional and accommodating. Food was great and the overall atmosphere was lovely, especially at sunset and while stargazing. Highly recommend.

Even though the price is quite high for staying in a tent we thought it sounded like an interesting concept. Indeed the tent was clean and the bed was very comfortable. But we got very cold overnight and had to quickly start the wood burning stove to warm up in the morning. Their website does a good job of describing the place. Staff was friendly and helpful. You can't park right next to your tent so be prepared to carry your gear a short ways. If this cost half as much as it does we might stay again.

We were excited for our first "glamping" experience and had visions of s'mores by the fire and stargazing. Unfortunately mother nature did not cooperate and it rained/snowed and was completely overcast. And cold. Very cold. They told us at check in that they realized this was not the experience that people signed up for so if we chose to cancel they would provide a full refund. That impressed me. But we decided to give it a shot anyway. Our tent was beautiful as well as the main tent with the cafe, little gift shop, and plenty of comfy seating areas. The live music was great and our dinner was delicious. We almost caught our tent on fire due to our lack of fire making skills, but the staff was wonderful in getting us moved to another tent because ours smelled like smoke. They even offered to wash all of our clothes since they also smelled like smoke and paid for our dinner. The staff is really what made our trip great. They worked double time to deal with the unexpected weather and provided free gloves, hot water bottles and extra bedding to help keep guests warm. They were all cheerful and fun despite the not so great conditions. We would highly recommend Under Canvas and hope to visit again. Maybe in the summer next time !

Under Canvas gave my outdoorsy husband the authentic camping experience he loves, while providing the basic amenities I enjoy! The peaceful atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. The 360-degree views and soothing sounds of nature were breathtaking. We also loved the delicious food, creative cocktails, and, above all, the warm and welcoming team members. Plus, the Grand Canyon was conveniently close. We can’t wait to explore another Under Canvas location!

I stayed at under the canvas October 17th 2024. I had extremely high hopes for an enjoyable time. My issue was with the fire burning stove. They're chimney system is substandard and facilitates a term they use often, is a smoke out. What happened, it was windy out and cold. Which is no big deal to me as a Minnesota native my entire life. However their substandard wood burning stove stack facilitates wind blowing down the stove pipe into the burning chamber, forcing the smoke into the room. Obviously it happens quite often. They actually have a name for it there. It's called a smoke out. Our tent got so bad that I had to sit outside. We got smoked out! Yes they moved us to another tent. No we did not use the wood burning stove in that one. Unfortunately for me I only have one lung because of a medical situation. Which made it doubly worse. I almost had to go to the hospital for smoke inhalation. I managed to regain my composure and was finally able to move to a different tent. Upon checkout not even a sorry you experienced that sir, no consideration for my troubles on some sort of discount. So if you plan on staying there just be prepared for a sleepless Smokey night. What's important to them is taking in money. The fact that it was cold out, rained, and snow on the same night did not bother me one bit. What did bother me is that didn't care a damn bit about what happened. And it's all because they have substandard stove pipe toppers that allow wind to blow the smoke in your tent, and they could care less.

My sister, a teenage exchange student and I stayed at this property during the Columbus Day weekend, and we were looking very much forward to trying an Under Canvas property out. Unfortunately, the stay left us very disappointed. Rather than rant, I'll mention a few specifics: ||- Check In: Typically, when you check in, there appears to be a whole spiel that you are supposed to get to show you around the property and explain how things like showers work in your tent. We arrived late because of a flight delay, and I don't know if it's because the usual staff were gone, but we got a very cursory explanation. The guy who took us to our tent, waved his hands around to point out obvious features. When we asked about pillows for the sofa bed, he fluffed up two of the sofa cushions and said we could use those (we later found pillows in the chest in the room). Later when we went up to the front desk to ask for more blankets, they provided them, but we had to carry them back to our tent ourselves in the dark on an unfamiliar property. ||- Food: I don't know if it was because it was the end of the season but there were substitutions made on multiple dishes without any prior warning. Meat that one member of our party asked for it be rare arrived well done, and meat that we asked to be medium well arrived rare (on multiple occasions). Once when we complained about the skirt steak, the staff readily admitted that it was a bad cut but it was what they had. When we asked about the trout, they actually warned us away from it saying that it's pretty bland. Breakfast took 30-40 minutes to arrive. ||- Cleanliness: Be forewarned that there is no housekeeping in your tent for the duration of your stay unless you ask for it. In the common areas, it was really nice that they had s'mores and fire pits out, but they didn't clean them periodically enough, so on two out of the three nights we were there, we found several to be completely trashed by previous guests - aluminum cans in the fire, garbage and dirty trays and plates in the chairs. ||- Pack and go food: They only had 3 kinds of sandwiches including an almond butter and jelly in their fridge. We also saw the same stale-looking sandwiches there two days in a row. When we inquired about lunch boxes to go from the restaurant, they provided us with an interesting menu, but we were told that they made them before 10am the DAY BEFORE you need them (In other words, by the time you eat them, they are more than 24 hours old). I would plan on making alternative arrangements. ||- Tent temperature: When we were there, it got cold at night. The tents provide a wood stove, which they are supposed to show you how to use. The staff person, who showed us to the room didn't, so when we tried to figure it out ourselves, we ended up with a ton of smoke in the room. (We did talk about how we would not want to be here during the middle of summer because we can't imagine being able to cool the tent down enough for it to be comfortable). ||- Shower: As part of the resort's eco-approach, the shower requires holding down a lever for the water to flow. That means that you have to wash with only one hand. In our case, the experience was further soured by the fact that the heater wasn't working, which we only discovered after I tried to shower. Maintenance person came relatively quickly in ten minutes, but it was just another thing that soured us. (The fix was relighting the pilot). ||- Basic golf cart safety: At the end of the stay, we asked for help to get our luggage. Two of us loaded our bags first and got in the cart. The driver started driving away as the third was loading her luggage in the cart. ||The good things: |- The property is beautiful. |- The night sky is as beautiful as they promise. |- The private guide they can arrange through a third party outfit was first rate (and very worth the price). |- The s'mores are really fun for kids, and a nice touch. |- Restaurant prices are reasonable. |- No one will tell you this, but they do have hot water bottles available if you ask for them. |- The common toilets are comfortable, but we found trash overfilling a couple times. |- If you snag them in time, they have a handful of hiking poles available for you to use. |- Free filtered water to fill your water bottles. ||All in all, the staff are friendly, but comically untrained and unhelpful. We did not see the resort manager on the property at all, and given how bad the experience was across the board, I imagined the problem is at a management level. I always worry about eco-resorts because sometimes resorts use it as an excuse to cut corners, and this one felt very much like it. ||Basically, I would expect this to be a DIY set up. It's glamping in the sense that there are tents there for you in a beautiful location, and they have food and alcohol there. If you don't expect service, you might be pleasantly surprised to occasionally get some during your stay. ||It was doubly disappointing because a couple we had met socially had raved about this property when they came before the pandemic. It made us wonder if something changed since then. ||It's possible that it's only this property that has problems, but it left me reluctant to try another.

Overpriced (at least for the fall/winter). No heat in the tent, so you have to build your own fire in a tiny fireplace that doesn't last all night. Enjoy either getting up every few hours or waking up to a 34 degree tent. All for the bargain price of $370 a night! You also have to hold the faucet down at the sink and the shower has a pulley system you have to hold. Impossible to wash your hands while only having the use of one hand. ||Staff is AMAZING though; very friendly and helpful. ||Food is pretty decent for being in the middle of nowhere Arizona.||Stars were great.||Whole experience was honestly fine... if it wasn't almost $400 a night. For that much money, we shouldn't have froze. They had 6 blankets on the bed, so they clearly knew the weather would be an issue.||If you want to glamp, I'd suggest going in a warmer month so you don't have to worry about it.
