First time staying here and my expectations were low since none of the view rooms allowed dogs. I was thrilled when I saw my room! Two windows facing out at the bay, perfect grassy area right outside the front door, the super nice lady who checked me in was so helpful and gave me all sorts of great information. The bathroom was very nicely remodeled with beautiful blue tile and a huge walk-in shower. Room and grounds were spotless. Nice little fireplace and great beach access! Really impressed and highly recommend!

This is an email I sent to the owner after our stay mid January, we are in April and still no response from them, very poor customer service too

"Hi there, we checked out this morning and wanted to share our experience with you. We are very disappointed of our stay especially for the price, the hotel was pretty pricey (almost 1300CAD for 4 nights) but we knew the location was great and a friend recommended it (he probably booked a better room). For this price we were expecting something decent but it wasn't the case, the room itself was super basic and kind of old. When we arrived on day 1 it was super cold inside as the heat was completely off, I understand it's important to save on energy but someone could ask our arrival time and put it on a bit before, it took 2/3h to have a decent temperature so taking a shower wasn't really enjoyable (no heat at all in the bathroom). I know this is California but it can gets cold. About the heater, we barely slept the first night because it was making an awful noise, like cracking sound, we had to turn it off the last 3 nights to avoid it but the morning were chilly. Maybe it's time to replace it....
I know you don't control guests but the last 3 nights just before 11pm a lot of people were outside going into the rooms making bunch of noise : rolling suitcases, slamming doors, talking loud, throwing stuff inside... same thing on the last morning from 6 to 7am... apparently it was a filming crew, maybe staff should talk to them and remind them that other people are around, it's very disrespectful and selfish.
Anyway I just wanted to share what happened for us, your hotel has good reviews but probably about the most expensive rooms, the "cheapest" one are pretty bad. And the Wi-Fi was pretty bad too. Thank you"

What a gem! Reasonably priced considering weekend and busy Spring season. So happy they had last minute vacancy. Crazy wind storm the evening of our stay but woke up to beautiful sunrise on the bay. Perfection.
The room was clean, sheets and bed comfy, pot belly stove to keep us toasty. Had to open windows to get some air flowing as it was getting dry. But we were happy to be warm! Ciaran at the front desk and Luke on-call, both lovely. Thank you guys for a great unexpected stay for us 💓

I have been staying at this resort for decades now. And cannot recommend highly enough. Under the recent ownership things the rooms have been upgraded and all is spotless. If you want fancy and little mints under your pillows please look elsewhere. If you want comfortable and clean and quiet and close to great hiking and with a little kitchen and a sweet little propane fireplace/stove then this is your place. Enjoy!!! David + Laura

Would recommend staying here! Rooms are good and service and location are great. Unfortunately our room had a power outage during our stay, but staff offered a price adjustment that was very fair.

Tomales Bay Resort is a gem! Awesome location, beautiful views, cozy clean rooms and some great restaurants close by. We will definitely be coming back to enjoy this treasure.

Tomales Bay Resort, should not at all have “resort”, in its name. It is a pleasant Inn. ||The property is nicely situated with a very friendly and helpful staff. Pillows were soft and fluffy which was a great plus. The rooms however need a lot of work. The door jambs and doors are terribly scuffed, and I found myself wondering: how much could it really cost for a can of paint and an entry-level painter to brush-up on these details? I could not help but get the feeling that this is a property whose owners are otherwise-occupied. The carpet was VERY soiled and needed to be replaced. The wi-fi is terrible to say the least, although I’m not sure if this is a result of Inverness being somewhat remotely situated, or if the owners of Tomales need to invest in a much better in internet system. If it is in fact the latter, they really need to improve the connectivity for the property. It is inexcusable that in this age of communication, a hotel guest cannot use the internet efficiently at this property. That is frustrating to say the least.||All in all our stay there was comfortable enough, but it is such a pity that this property is so neglected. The nightly rate needs to be reduced, as the facilities offered are not commensurate with the price of their rooms.

We enjoyed our 11th anniversary weekend here. My first time in this part of California. Went to the Pt Reyes Lighthose and climbed down the 313 steps and back up again! Awesome fresnel lens built in 1870!
