We've been staying here for about 5 years. It's always a great experience. Our Inn keeper, Andrew is always working to make our stay better and better. His breakfast menus are wonderful and made with special attention to details. The afternoon wine socials bring the guests together and gives us all a chance to discuss our day. We always have parking at the Inn which is in easy walking distance to the waterfront. Coffee on the large front porch is an excellent day to start your day.

There were so many options in Bar Harbor to stay but I am glad we ended up at the Thornhedge. Andy was a fantastic host! We stayed in the Blair room. It was on the 2nd floor and was plenty of space for the 3 nights we were there. This is a true B&B experience and it was perfect! There is wine and cheese served in the early evening. The breakfast was fantastic! You can't beat the location. Its close to everything but towards the end of the main strip so there is more quiet around the house than some of the other places we saw. The rooms and decoration are so eclectic and you will never be short of conversation starters here.

This beautiful home keeps you back in time a bit with its charm and relaxed pace. The accommodations were lovely, but the true gem of it all came with the extras! The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and served over two hours giving those of us that needed to get to adventures time to eat or later for when we wanted to sleep in. |Andrew, the owner, was here each day until late evening to chat and share his local recommendations. He was able to walk us through which trails to take for our e-bike tour and give us advice on great places to eat locally. |Sitting of the evening on the giant wrap around porch watching every one walking by and talking with guests from all over was a delight! |Location wise you could not ask for better- no hills or inclines to walk to get you to and from the town center. The inn is close to everything and no car needed once you are here. |Our visit was delightful!!

Really cool and well maintained home with a ton of quirk and charm. Rooms are well appointed and clean, there was nothing we wanted or needed that we didn’t have.

Andy and his staff are awesome, extremely welcoming and willing to provide great suggestions. The Inn has been in Andy’s family since 1974, and over breakfast you’ll get to hear some incredible stories of his family’s history and the history of Bar Harbor. My wife and I highly recommend you stay here!

Traveling to Maine for other reasons, I decided to add three days of Acadia to the trip. There are a LOT of inns on the island, with various amenities and booking systems, so it takes some patience to find what you are looking for. I found it at Thornhedge. My room was well thought out and spacious, with daily cleaning. Breakfast was very good, and the inn is designed to allow lots of interaction among the guests, sharing plans and reports of days in the park. It's a very short walk to the bus stop into the park or to a huge range of restaurants.

Most of that is probably true of any number of Bar Harbor inns. What set this one apart was the owner. Andy is a native and knows the island very well. His family has a long history in the business, too. All three mornings, he helped me refine my hike/bike plans for the day and, honestly, saved me a lot of pain while getting the most of my short time there.

You can't go wrong with Thornhedge, and I expect that's true of the family's other nearby properties. Acadia is amazing, and coming back each afternoon to a comfortable, welcoming home base made it even better.

This Inn gets everything right; many thanks to our host, Andrew. This is a great location (a couple blocks away from the noisiest streets) to enjoy a few days in Bar Harbor. Easy walk to everything in town and a short drive to the entrance to Acadia National Park. We loved that this Inn has been in Andrew's family for generations, and he's committed to making his guests comfortable and happy. Don't hesitate to ask for information and recommendations as he won't steer you wrong. Delightful breakfasts and wine, cheese, and conversation before dinner if you're so inclined. A beautifully maintained and managed property; we've stayed in many B&B's and wholeheartedly recommend Thornhedge Inn.
