The simple pleasures in life are sometimes the best. The Sawmeal Restaurant is one of these. Every visit is like going back in time to simpler days. I have never got anything but the buffet but I’ve always enjoyed. The salad bar is especially good with lots of options. We drive 35 miles to eat here and it’s worth it

I order fried catfish fillets, and this is what they served. Straight up frozen fish sticks from Walmart. My daughter had the hamburger, which was the frozen flower shaped garbage. This place has completely fallen.

My family has been eating here for as long as I can remember. Birthdays, funerals, games, it's become a tradtion to have their teriyaki chicken. All these years and we have never had any issues, that is until we did . Our recent purchase of chicken looked, smelled and tasted burnt. We called immediately to explain that 75% of the chicken were burned and they said they would cook us another platter. So we drove all the way back & were then told they were not burned. They said it was because of the teriyaki sauce and the next ones would be the same. We were then told, if we wanted to return them we were going to have to pay for the new ones. I was in shock to say the least. They were most definitely burnt & we've all had them enough to know that. But that's irrelevant really, because when a customer isn't happy with the food they receive, you make it right. Just because they give you a phone number that isn't local, you don't lie to them and then tell them the solution is to pay another $64.00 to fix your mistake. This is how they treat life long customers? I'm beyond disappointed. My family has spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars here over the years and to be done this way is a horrible feeling. They thought I was from out of town and didn't know any better. It doesn't take years of buying the same item again and again to know when something is not right. I'm sure people have had many good experiences here but one should hope they don't have a bad one when this is how they conduct business and treat people. Be cautious of buying from here because you are taking a risk. If they make a mistake, you might be out of your hard earned money and who can afford that these days?

(BTW, my uncle told me that they always open the tray and have you check them before you leave, but they didn't do this with me, why is that? And shouldn't they have taken them back since they didnt do this? If I had seen and smelled them beforehand I wouldn't have left with them and if I had, then that would have been on me, not them.)

Only 2 servers across the whole restaurant, the wait for one server to come to your table was around 10 minutes. They weren't very friendly. There were so many bugs flying around, some even crawling on the customers. You could tell the fish and mozzarella sticks were frozen and thawed. Although, the parking lot was full and lots of people were coming in and out. Overall this whole experience was terrible. I absolutely do NOT recommend coming.

We drove 2 hours to try this restaurant and we're so glad we did! Our clean plates say a lot! Delicious home cooking! Best chicken fingers I've had in decades. Pecan pudding to die for. All fresh and made like Mamaw used to!

If you have not tried The buffet at The sawmill you are missing out. Everything on the buffet is fresh and the buffet is kept neat and clean. The salad bar is excellent and very large. Try the chicken and dumplings. They are some of the best you can find anywhere.

Haven't eaten here in a few years so it was nice to be back. The place hasn't changed much and the food is still good and fresh. We had biscuits and sausage gravy, eggs and bacon. The coffee is hot and fresh so all in all still a good place for a hot breakfast. Nothing gourmet about this country restaurant, just good food and friendly folks.

Was good country cooking. Seems it used to be a bit better, especially when they had crab, but we did enjoy it.
