I have to echo the other reviewers, Margaret and Jim are absolutely delightful hosts and take every chance to make your stay welcoming. A very reasonable and elegant place to stay in a gorgeous valley. We loved listening to the river and relaxing on the deck.||Close to many different opportunities from the coast, to the river, to the wineries...||From the outside it looks like a rustic inn. But Margaret and Jim remodeled the upstairs into very elegant rooms. We stayed in the suite. Very luxurious, and excellent night's sleep on the firm mattresses. Lots of extra room for the two of us. ||Breakfast is not included, but there are several good restaurants that serve solid home-style breakfasts nearby. There is the issue of shared bathrooms -- the only option -- but not an issue for us.||Margaret referred us to an excellent, local fishing guide -- the Wolfe brothers -- they are twins... So we were also able to enjoy the valley from the river. Fishing for bass here is an experience and not to be missed if you can schedule it in. Also excellent wineries in walking distance. The Brandberg Winery two blocks away have some surprising excellent pinot noirs (we are Chehalem Mtn snobs...).||WIFI and cell reception in the valley are spotty -- but that can be a good thing...

Three friends and myself were on a 10 day bicycle tour and felt extremely lucky to find such great accommodations in the small community of Elkton, OR. The owners, Margaret and Jim, went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We rented 3 rooms, one with 2 beds and the others with a bed each so that each of us had our own bed. The rooms are very moderately priced. There are two bath areas, one with a shower and sink, and the other with a jacuzzi, sink. and separate toilet area. The Inn is easily within walking distance to three restaurant and a couple wineries. As mentioned in other reviews the owners were friendly yet completely respected our privacy. It was a great night.

You will never find more delightful hosts than Jim and Margaret ! The rooms are clean and spacious with ample facilities and a cosy tea/coffee area. The bathroom and shower room are shared between the rooms but are spacious, clean and beautiful. There are patios and decks to just sit and enjoy the sights and sound of the river, however you will be drawn in by the warmhearted hosts and want to spend wonderful evenings chatting and listening to Jim's soothing guitar playing. This is truly home away from home !

We loved this place. It was way better than any hotel. Ms. Margaret was so sweet, and her husband was awesome to. Their hospitality was so welcoming. If and when we get to go back, that's where we're staying. They were such a blessing. And we will always keep them in our prayers.

Normally I wouldn't "lodge" so close to home, but Husband and I won a one-night stay here, and we followed through. Margaret is a delightful hostess, although we didn't see much of her ~ she greeted us, showed us the communal areas (bathrooms included -- three separate rooms, different features in each), then left us on our own, telling us to holler downstairs if we needed anything. 🙂 ||We had the big room with two queen beds; normally I don't sleep well in an unfamiliar setting, but this was an exception -- greatly because it was so homey. Actually, my own bedroom isn't nearly as homey. It is obvious that Jim and Margaret have devoted much TLC into making the rooms very pleasant. The alcove with hot beverage options, microwave, and refrigerator is very welcoming, as were the bathrooms. Voted "most enticing bathrooms" by me!||Elkton is a cute town with three restaurants, several nearby wineries, and other "lures" which include great fishing, although we simply hoped for as quiet of a night as we have at our rural residence a half hour away. We were not disappointed.||Cautionaries: My husband wasn't successful at finding a variety of TV stations (I left that to him). I'm uncertain about the "high speed" internet, but I am accustomed to ||mediocre wi-fi. I always try to travel with a good book and my Sudoku puzzles.||Bottom line: We were the only guests... and felt so at home that we left the door to the central area open all night.

I stayed here on a Saturday night, midway through a weekend music festival. I had the cute little room that Margaret, the owner/hostess/maternal presence of the inn, calls "the closet," with a shared bathroom and shower down the hall. It felt like staying in the large home of a friend who also had other company that night.||||The room was quiet and my bed (a twin) was unusually comfortable. The room decor was tastefully homey. Everything -- room, bath, hall, lounge, floors -- was kept spotless.||||I'll be back for next year's festival and hope to get a room here again.

Our family had a great experience lodging in this unique place! It's located right across the Umpqua river. Our kids had a wonderful time running around in the river where the water was so low and warm. It's our greatest pleasure meeting the owners Jim and Margaret, and a great friend who was so kind and generous to invite us for dinner. I would like to thank Margaret for helping us do the laundry and even fold the clean clothes!!We felt so warm and grateful to meet such great people on our road trip with three young children. Amazing place with amazing people! We would like to come back again if we are traveling along Umpqua River!

This is like a room at your parents house. That means a shared bath which was no big deal since i never even saw the other person staying there. There are only a few rooms so sharing the separate jacuzzi tub, shower and toilet was not an issue. The owners are super-chill and were both friendly but very respectful of your privacy. Elkton is a cool little place and with the winery tasting room and Italian restaurant a 5 minute walk away, this is a great place to totally forget about all your cares.
