First the person at the front desk was great! Friendly, efficient, and helpful. The location is pretty good a 15 min walk to the beach. I even splurged for the ocean view. But the view is through a side window over the freeway, then the ocean. And it is pretty noisy from 101 being so nearby. I have been at other hotels as close to a freeway with no problem, but this is an older property, so likely less soundproof. That meant I couldn't leave the windows open to cool the room at night, so i tried the AC. Running full, it cooled the temp from 75 to 72, but NO lower (I had it set at 69 degrees). Sigh.|The workout room is tiny with only 1 bike, 1 stepper, and 2 treadmills. And the bike wouldn't work, just kept saying "press enter." I was. I was. It is old-fashioned outside doors, which is not a problem but for awareness. I will say the beds were Amazing! Comfortable, clean, updated. I do agree that was the best spent money. Some other furnishings showed some wear but the room was clean with a good size mini fridge and microwave. It was ok, maybe even good (just for the bed alone), just not great.

Older hotel, but it is well-kept and clean. As others noted, there is a bit of a musty smell. Didn't much bother us. The shower was a high point, the water pressure was fantastic. Check in staff was very friendly and helpful. The view was nice, and the highway noise wasn't bad in our opinion. Would stay again.

We planned a trip to Ventura for my husband’s birthday. This was our first time staying at this hotel. We are disappointed by the whole stay. First, we arrived after 4pm and our room wasn’t ready yet. Check in is at 4pm. We asked if there was another room that was available right away since the room wasn’t going to be ready for another half hour. We were given another room that was comfy but dated. The bathroom was very small but the worst things is that the shower was broken and we had to bath in the yucky tub. I felt bad because my husband is 6’4 and if I was uncomfortable taking a bird bath in the tub I knew he wasn’t pleased. Things went from bad to worse. The power went off around 8am and we weren’t able to get breakfast because they could cook due to the power and the early bid guests ate everything that was made. So much for a nice beachfront hotel to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Let’s see if management call to ask how they can make up for the inconveniences that occurred during our stay.

Positive: The beds were very comfortable and the proximity to the beach was A+. The room had everything we needed except a phone to call the front desk but it was close to our room. Negative: The telephone in the room didn't work and the workman couldn't fix it but didn't offer a replacement. The tile hallways are noisy and echo.

Refused our room because of false advertising!!!! We booked this place specifically because it was advertised as pet friendly. We were traveling with a cat who is crate and litterbox trained, and were refused our room upon arrival. Customer service sucked, and we were stuck scrambling to find a new place at the last minute on a Friday afternoon, despite having planned and booked our trip months in advance. This was because they failed to mention in any of their advertising that it is dog friendly only.

Pierpoint Inn was a nice place to stay as it had ample parking and was right across the freeway from the beach. It was only a 4 to 5 minute walk from our room to the sand. OUr room was a bit loud due to the freeway being so close and the security feature on the door did not work. But, the rest of the room as clean and in good order. The only other downside was we went to breakfast at about 8:30 and the eggs and potatoes were already cold.

Love this historic old hotel. It was built in 1910 and I read that they are in the process of renovation. Our room was huge with a view of the ocean from every window. We had all the regular amenities of any other hotel room, but with more space and a beautiful view. They are dog friendly. There are some restaurants and stores within walking distance, as is the beach, of course. If you like historic places and hotels with charm, this place should definitely be on your list.

It is a nice hotel with beautiful fireplaces in some of the rooms. The first night we got a room with a fireplace and our dog was elated. The second time around our room did not have a fireplace, but it was big and the dog was able to play with her toys and run around. It had arrows pointing to the beach, but we didn't find it particularly attractive to go down there. The shortcoming of the stay was being blindsided about the $100 non-refundable fee for the dog. It felt like a scam because they don't mention it anywhere. The parking fee is also annoying. I mean, we are staying at your hotel, but you wan to charge us $10 to park at your parking lot. We are staying here, so where else we are going to park? To me, it felt petty and scammy, but the room itself was good, and the service was superb, the staff was friendly and the place was peaceful, clean and cozy. I would recommend it if you didn't have a dog; and if you are prepared to pay for the parking fee.
