Nicely furnished room, but poorly serviced. A bit odd really, as there was coffee but no cups, no glasses for water, one knife, spoon and bowl. I suppose we might have been able to get some from the service room, but that's not the point, surely the room should be replenished after each guest. Other than that it was good value for money. Comfortable bed and not noisy.

We stayed here 2 weekends ago at the last minute and it was perfect for our needs as it always is. It’s very affordable, very clean, and pet friendly. It also has a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge mountains. It has some nice amenities too. Listen, is it perfect, no. It has a few rough edges. But the amount of work that had to be put into the renovation must’ve been monumental. A lot of nice fixtures and quality floors. Pillows and beds are very comfy. Shower was very pleasant with new fixtures as well. The Mallard Hotel is a shining example of the American spirit of hard work and ingenuity. We have stayed here before and we will again.

Mallard Inn Review

Our stay at the Mallard Inn was pleasant overall. We stayed for five days and traveled with our dog, appreciating the availability of pet-friendly accommodations. Since our group consisted of five adults, we booked two rooms.

Initially, there was a mix-up with the room assignments, but after a brief phone call, we were promptly moved to adjoining rooms, which resolved the issue efficiently.

The self-check-in process was a new experience for us. While it was relatively straightforward, it felt unusual not to encounter any staff during our stay.

One concern, however, was the cleanliness of the floors. We were surprised to find them quite dirty, as evidenced by my son’s feet becoming noticeably black after walking barefoot for only a short period.

While there were positive aspects of our visit, attention to cleanliness would greatly enhance the guest experience.

2 brothers booked rooms for the same stay, same class, one room was 125.00 and the other was 173.00. The rooms were clean. That was the only good point. One brother had no cups in the room even though there is a “kitchenette”. Neither ever saw an employee on-site, including in the office.
The free breakfast is basically an apple.
One of the rooms looked like the door had been forced open at one time.
They both said they’d like to visit the area again sometime, but would choose other lodging.
It was quiet.

Misleading from the start. The pictures on the website hide the paint peeling from the doors and the terrible stairs, weird pit at the back of the building, and broken elevators. The room smelled of smoke. Towels and washcloths are rough and tattered. It feels like at one point money was put in the rooms to remodel and then the place was just left abandoned. We called to cancel but were refused a refund. Thankfully we just booked one night but I do not recommend. There were a few positives. The game room upstairs was nice with a pool table and chairs and a projector hooked to Roku. The breakfast area was nice but barely stocked.

This place was very cute and very cozy inside. There was some issues however. The heat wasn't already set and took a while to heat up, especially since it was 23 degrees outside. Didn't bother to call to complain since it was late when we checked in. The elevator didn't work and I feel they should leave 1 to 2 rooms available in case of a person who checks in with a wheelchair. We had to carry my father in law up flight of stairs since elevator broke and no rooms available on 1st floor and he’s in a wheelchair. The floor was filthy, it didn’t look like it to naked eye but my white socks showed differently, wish I had taken a picture. Ice machine required a quarter 25 cents but didn’t work
This place is an $80 night hotel not $110 night.
Nobody onsite to help with anything
I feel this place still needs a lot of work if they want to charge what they charge a night !

A lot of effort has been made to refurbish an old motel. The bathroom was nice. There were some good things about the rooms but looking closely revealed some issues. No stand was provided for a suitcase; there were holes left in the walls; the nice wallpaper was begining to separate from the wall; the floor was dirty; the AC unit was dirty. It was noisy due to the proximity to roadways. No staff appeared to be on site. The grounds were not so nice. The price paid was exorbitant for what was provided and we have no intentions to return.

Got caught in a tight citution water froze up for a week and took family to stay in a motel for a couple nights they could wash clothes and just not worry about our hard week were tax paying home owners in fannin county born and raised a hillbilly to most well lived here 40 years and my young daughter and I are not allowed /good enough to the new owners of the local motels and hotels. In my Hometown my blood is actually in the mountains and streams all around the visitors who made these under no circumstances rules. The Mallard hotel gave us no issues what so ever and has really upgraded since I was young the rooms free laundry mat free pool table play I really missed and arcade games no charge awesome area with chairs and fire pits firewood provided no cost God used this place to bring my home feeling back they need to get investors to buy every last one in Blue ridge show them how you treat locals before the sweep the real trash back to we're ever it came from God bless the mallard hotel this was the Fire I built last night and set by thinking about everyone that's gone who made this place home
