The Hatter Café in Mentone, AL was easily the highlight of our trip—especially for my wife, who’s still talking about it nonstop! Walking in felt like stepping straight into Wonderland. The whimsical décor was full of character, charm, and creativity—everywhere you looked, there was something fun to see, like Alice and the Mad Hatter had decorated it themselves.

The food was just as impressive. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, and what we ordered did not disappoint. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back just to try something new each time.

The service was friendly, the vibe was cozy, and the whole experience was unforgettable. If you’re in Mentone, The Hatter Café is a must. We’ll absolutely be back!

Stopped by from out of town while I was on vacation. My friend and I drove out of our way because we were drawn in by the charm of the name. Upon arrival we were not disappointed. Waitress was friendly and very accommodating when asking the kitchen about which items contained gluten. The chef was extremely helpful in helping me determine safe and delicious options. My friend and I ordered 2 different types of tea and both were exquisite on a rainy but peaceful day. As for the food, it was so good that I wanted cry. I had the grit cakes and collard greens with a poached egg (Down the Rabbit Hole) with a side order of country ham. As we were eating my friend and I kept noticing more and more whimsical details in the decor. This place was imagined and created with love and it exudes charm both in the friendliness of the staff and overall atmosphere.

Afterwords we visited the gift shop and couldn't help smile and laugh at all of the cute wares.

All in all this was a lovely experience and if I ever find myself in Alabama, I will make a detour to visit again.

The biscuits and gravy and the hashbrown casserole were so good! Even the coffee was delicious 😋. I loved the vibes of this place and the owner and staff are all so friendly. I can't wait to visit this area again so I can eat here again! 10/10 for sure.

My boyfriend and I went here expecting the food to be average and the main attraction to be the atmosphere. However, the food was fantastic! The extensive tea menu was a delight, and our Sencha green tea came in the cutest tea pot and tea cup set. My boyfriend got the chicken and biscuits with the crunchy pea salad, and I got the cheddar grit cakes with the collard greens. Both were amazing, but if I had to choose again I would be getting what he got. We will definitely be trying to make that crunchy pea salad at home! Delicious.

Went to the Mad Hatter Cafe this past fall, and it was a real treat. The food was really good and the decor was just precious. The gift shop that was nearby had all kinds of cute things as well as a nice tea selection. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back. The owners, who I had the pleasure of meeting, were such a joy and breath of fresh air.

Stopped by without reservation for lunch after hiking at Desoto Falls. The atmosphere and food were amazing. Will admit, I was a bit out of my element, but my wife thoroughly enjoyed the decor and atmosphere and that made it special for me. The owners are wonderful people and made us feel welcome.

We happened upon this place by accident and U-turned so quickly when we were driving past it on our roadtrip. We were in love this place is obviously someone’s dream come true. The decor and vibes are so thought out and the attention to detail, so whimsical and beautiful! The staff was so friendly and welcoming. All of the bread is made from scratch. They have a gift shop too with the cutest things! 100% recommend and might even make the 2 hour drive again to bring some friends!

I HAVR NEVER😍 This was a GEM to find! If you want to eat here, you best be waiting at the door when they open! It is a small restraunt and practically the ONLY place to get breakfast in Mentone! I promise you will THANK ME later! The atmosphere and gift shop are so intriguing! I'm not a Disney fanatic by any stretch! However, I do love Disney classics, and I am a dreamer myself. This Alice in Wonderland themed restraunt had me beside myself!!!!! The food was just as good as the eye-catching atmosphere, and the service was on point as well! They also have several options for freshly brewed hot teas! You can try them at the restraunt and then walk next door and purchase some from the gift shop! They also have everything that you will need if you have never made your own fresh tea at home! If you are ever in Mentone, set your clocks! Don't be the one who says... "Im late, I'm late, for a very important date! No time to say, Hello, GOODBYE, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!"❤️
