We traveled to Sandusky Ohio for a family reunion and really enjoyed our stay! Ohio was more "country" than I would have imagined and the people there were all very friendly. Jeanne and Jim were our innkeepers at the local Bed and Breakfast, The Big Oak, where we stayed, and made us feel right at home! They had superior knowledge of the area and attractions that our 3 children would enjoy, so that some of the down time we spent away from the reunion was also enjoyable. Cedar Point was a big hit with all of the family there! Rides and thrills for all, late into the night.

I stayed at the big oak for a night after a trip to cedar point. The location was great about five miles away. When we arrived we were surprised to see that it was in someone's actual house. We stayed in the gody room for the night. The rooms were separated from the rest of the house. Rooms were very well furnished with antique furniture. When we got in to our room a complimentary fruit basket and cold water was brought up. Lots of history was collected on the house, property, and rooms. The owners are very good about quality and cleanliness of the rooms. Breakfast was good I enjoyed it. The place reminded me of a good stay at my grandparents house when I was kid. Overall great value and I would stay agian

I so hesitate to write this review. When I made the reservations for the big oak b&b I didn't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about it. But another web site have it glowing reviews so i overrode my gut and went for it. When we pulled up, I could have crawled under my seat. If I had not paid up front we would have kept driving. It is in a older ( like 1940 era) but not historic area. The front yard is full, I mean full, of concrete statutes for sale. When you enter the house there is a very stale smell, again not like a historic house but more of a cluttered smell. The bedrooms are cluttered and every thing is out dated. The rooms are very warm and it was suggested that we not use the a.c. units but we would have sweated all night otherwise. There is only one electrical outlet in each room to carry the ac, lighting, etc. The shared bath room is tiny. We decided to skip breakfast. The couple running it seemed very nice and I salute them for their efforts.

The owners were super friendly, the breakfast was delicious, the room clean and comfortable, and the price was perfect! Can't recommend this place enough; would definitely stay here again!
