My parents stayed at the resort for an extended stay for medical reasons and they were so very pleased with their experience. The staff was incredibly accommodating to their special needs and ensuring that they were cared for during the entire stay. Special thank you to Jason Wagner, Director of Housekeeping, and Lily on his team.

The resort is located about 30 minutes North of the Medical Center and is a beautiful drive through Texas Hill Country, even passing ranches with beautiful exotic animals. The resort was a great option to escape the congestion of the city and offered all the amenities for a comfortable, extended stay.

We checked into the quiet oasis. It was during the week, so no kids yet. The room was older, but very clean. The view from our balcony was lovely. The on-site restaurant was very good. This is a small resort, so walking and running into some beautiful things will happen.

This is a wonderful hill country resort. The setting is gorgeous and the public areas are modern, well designed and beautiful and the ones I saw took advantage of the views. The food and service were also outstanding. In fact the salmon I ordered was some of the best anywhere. And the people who worked the front desk couldn’t have been nicer, as were actually all the staff. I didn’t play golf, but the course looked nice. The only marks off I gave the resort were for the room. It was very spacious and my bed was comfortable, but it was also dark and dated. The bathrooms were particularly dated and worn. And I don’t think there was as a closet or at least I never saw one, just some hooks. The ice maker didn’t work in my building, nor did my telephone or coffee pot. They replaced the coffee maker. It wouldn’t take much to elevate this resort to another level and I hope they do. I still really enjoyed my stay and recommend it!

We bought a package through travelzoo for $129. It included 2 breakfasts and 2 s'more packages. Thats pretty much what it's worth. It was a comfortable and cozy stay but, like other reviewers, the rooms are dated and wirn down. Our room had a strong bleach smell so we aired out our room while we went to dinner. It was gone by the time we returned. We did not have experience with dinner but the menu wasn't of interest to us: very heavy food. We did have breakfast and the food was pretty good. They have oatmeal for their lighter fair, everything else is standard heavy egg dishes. I think they were very understaffed that morning as it took several minutes, maybe up to 10 to be seated without any recognition from the waitstaff that we would be assisted shortly. Once we were seated, the waitress was pleasant and helpful. The check-in staff was very helpful and friendly as well. It looks like it's a nice place for families as their were little kids running around with their parents. I wouldn't spend more than $130 to stay here but I'm glad we went. The location is nice and the staff are pleasant. It's unfortunate the rooms are as old as they are. It has the potential to be a great resort if they remodel their rooms.

Stayed here over spring break. The grounds were beautiful and the views were amazing. The room interior however, needed major work! Renovations should be done asap. Peeling wallpaper, toilet was not sturdy and leaked. The air condition vents were wide open and right over the beds which was very odd and not enough electrical outlets. We even had to clean the room before unpacking. The amount of dirt and dust in the room was horrible. My mom and daughter both suffer from asthma so it was very disappointing. The customer service was top notch. No complaints there. Every person employed there was very friendly, professional and welcoming. The price I paid was too high for a room as outdated and dirty as it was.

My husband wanted to surprise me for our 20th anniversary so he booked a two night stay here. We had high hopes of our stay here when we went to check in at the Clubhouse. The clubhouse was beautifully decorated and exuded luxury resort vibes. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed when we got to our room and saw the bathroom was so outdated and was in need of a complete renovation. The outside of the buildings where the rooms are located need a make over as well. We called the front desk to ask if they had any other rooms where the bathroom had been updated and the service manager was wonderful as she upgraded us to a much nicer room. The bathroom in the new room was a step up; however, it was a step up in only cosmetic changes. The showers in the rooms in my opinion are most likely the original showers from when this complex was built so they are aged and outdated. The plumbing was also an issue in that our shower was clogging and we had to stop the water each time in the middle of showering so it would drain.

We went to the bar on the last night to have a few drinks and we had a very nice time listening to live music. The drinks were very good and their brisket queso and chips were delicious. The staff are very friendly and do try their hardest to make guests happy and comfortable. This resort has the potential of being top notch and I hope they invest in renovating the bathrooms and upgrading the outside of the buildings in the future.

A Halfway Experience at Tapatio Springs Resort

*Review:

We stayed at Tapatio Springs Resort for one night due to a nearby event. The room was clean and decent, and the family pool was beautiful. We had hoped for a late 2 PM checkout to let our toddler enjoy the pool, but that request was unavailable. Given the emphasis on upselling late checkout on the website, this was disappointing.

At check-in, we received a s’mores kit, but due to a burn ban, we couldn't use it—just another missed opportunity, not at the fault of Tapatio. I went to La Tienda for coffee and a muffin in the morning, but the selection was underwhelming, and there were no muffins available. We explored the walking trails, which were pretty but somewhat unkempt, and partially blocked off.

To add to our frustration, after being denied a late checkout, our invoice included an unexpected $50 charge for it. Getting this resolved was a hassle, as I struggled to reach customer service after an email bounced back ([email protected] is not working) and the phone lines were constantly busy.The Accounts Payable employee who did call me back to resolve this was courteous and efficient.

The most concerning moment of our stay was when housekeeping knocked on our door. Despite me loudly saying we were in the room and not in need of service, a staff member entered two minutes later to deliver water bottles, clearly to the wrong room as we did not request these or need them. I am glad my family was decent with an employee opening our door while we were inside.

Overall, while Tapatio Springs Resort might be a decent spot for a night, it has a long way to go to justify its four-star rating. The surrounding area is stunning, but the resort experience itself left much to be desired.

The scenery is beautiful! |With that said, the greens were absolutely terrible! This should have been mentioned when we booked the tee time. |Also, the rooms are very old and outdated. They need a facelift. |The pool area was nice and we enjoyed the hot tub. |The restaurant was very welcoming and beautiful, unfortunately, the food wasn’t great; especially for the prices being charged. |All in all, some major improvements need to be done before we will make a reservation to return.
