What a fabulous resort. Dinner both nights our server was excellent. And we were on the 5th floor and the view was amazing.

Beautiful & well-appointed rooms. We rented 3 rooms in the Villas. All very welcoming, nice and clean. I was concerned about it being outdated based on reviews, but the rooms and kitchen are fantastic and updated. Full kitchen, with all the cooking items you need, including cutting board. Bring extra eating utensils if you have a lot of people…we kept having to re-wash the same ones for the same meal. Just not a plethora of utensils. Regular coffee pot uses filter (provided) but brews slow. Not K-cups.|Full Salt and pepper shakers are there, plus paper towels. |Quiet. Indoor pool for winter. ||Cookie sheets are in the bottom of the stove warming drawer. Dishwasher, microwave, full-size fridge. I think the fireplace is for real logs…not electric. We didn’t want to make a mess, so we didn’t use it. ||Lamps don’t have phone charging outlets. Bring a brick for charging with you. The restaurant had the BEST salmon I’ve ever eaten in Texas. Reasonable prices …I can eat at Cracker Barrel for the same price. It’s 💯 better here.||One thing, the hot water ran out not even half way of filling up the jacuzzi in the king suite. That was disappointing because I was cold! But no complaints anywhere else. It is a beautiful place and we had a great time. Oh, ask for the military discount!

Julie, from the bar and grill is freaking awesome with the professional service, a great sense of humor and witty personality. The kind of place that is Texas BIG, which also equates to over done exterior and posturing with a lack of quality, attention to detail, and substance inside. E.g. furnishings and fixtures broken, damaged, or repurposed which is fine or even good in philosophy for one’s home or a dive bar but not for a purported higher end hotel.
Granted, this visit was in March 🟰 off season. There are some nice views, decent grounds around, looks to be surrounded by covered docks for boats, and there are pools in a nice setting outside and lap pool inside but they were all closed. For this visit almost everything was shut down - bar, pools, restaurants, and access areas for the venue.
There is a solar array that serves as covered parking and multiple buildings which look like apartments and appear to be part of the lease and vacation rental program that may be available by direct contact to Tanglewood Resort on the brown turbid water of the human dominated landscape of “Lake” (it’s a reservoir) Texoma. Most of the lake is in Oklahoma but Texas claims it’s the largest lake in the state. 🕺 💃

Lunch/ dinner area stinks really bad that you would want to puke, so imagine the thought of having food there. They mostly do not cook fresh food. It is usually the left over from previous days and smells; but they do not seem to care. Vege options are not enough and good. Room, bathroom, bedsheets, and towels might look clean at first glance but are not clean at all; there is a weird smell in the room and bathroom too. I felt yucky all the time while I was in the room and bathrooms. There are bugs in the room. Rooms do not have enough lights. There was no handsoap in the bathrooms. Elevators are rusty, old, slow, do not dissapoint and have the filthiest smell here too. Staff seems to show no care. Would not come back to this place, and would never recommend this place to anyone.

Edit Mar 2025: Plus one star for management response -- it seems that they are interested, and potentially improving shortcomings.

Original: Management seems asleep at the wheel, construction quality is poor, everything seems very poorly thought-out. The living area lacks table lamps or any other lighting aside from a non-dimmable chandelier as bright as the sun. There are no towel rods in our bathroom at all. Toilet is loose and is like a rocking chair when you sit on it. Vanity has built-in tissue dispenser, but tissues are not provided. Hollow-core bedroom door won't close due to severe misalignment. TV is stuck in "demo mode" so it overlays feature lists of the TV over whatever you want to watch. Remnants of scotch tape are stuck on everything. Drywall patches are horribly amateurish mounds of mud smeared on the walls, which is consistent with the quality of construction elsewhere in hotel. Several cabinet doors have loose spring-loaded hinges that jerk and slam the doors when operating, and are ready to fall off; drawers don't close properly. Kitchenette trash can is too big to fit under sink, so the only place for it is blocking the entry. Microwave in room is too small to fit the plates provided in the room. The bar & grill served our dinner on paper plates last night to save themselves the effort of washing dishes.

We asked the front desk for info on morning "activities" (e.g. water yoga and whatnot) and were told to check the web site. Why even have somebody at the front desk standing around all day & night with nothing to do if they cannot be bothered to either know the answer, or print it out on a piece of paper -- some people are not well suited to reading text from a 2" x 4" screen on a smartphone -- if we wanted to go research it on the web, on a tiny screen while traveling, we wouldn't have bothered asking the question of the front desk staff. That is a clear training issue, as 20-yr-olds don't necessarily empathize with people who don't just use perfect eyesight and a smartphone for every activity.

It seems like much/some of the staff WANTS to do a good job, but they don't have much to work with, and it certainly isn't mandatory.
