This is now Tamale Factory (NOT Hwy 53 Diner, as of Feb 2025). This Mexican restaurant has AMAZING food! Authentic, fresh, and delicious. If you like Mexican food, you will LOVE Tamale Factory!

What a cool 50’s vibe place. Best burger in Jasper. We had the Hwy 53 burger cooked to our order and a side of tater tots. They serve a variety of fare, as the name suggests as well as soft drinks and adult beverages. Our server was very attentive and courteous. Couldn’t ask for a better lunch. The only criticism I could say is that the experience would be better served by playing 50’s genera music. All in all a great place and we’ll definitely be back!

Decided to drop by this new restaurant and give it a try. Irving told us that he's only been open for a month. We asked for one of everything that he recommended so he gave us a burrito, Taco, sopa, tamale, gordita and some churro beans.

The authentic Mexican flavor blew our minds, the food was delicious and we are sure to come back. Thanks for another authentic Mexican option in the area.

We had a job that took us to the Jasper area and we passed this neat looking diner restaurant on the way. So after the job on our way back we decided to have lunch here and so glad we did. There was two of us we both ordered burger and fries and a drink.
I had the black and blue burger and my friend had a regular cheeseburger.
The one thing that has stellar here is that they have a what I call a works bar kind of like a small salad bar that you can dress your burger exactly how you want. All the onions tomato lettuce just how you like it not just how some fast food company says like one half of a piece of lettuce two little rings of onion you get my drift.
So your burger is done your way perfectly. This I think is a great addition. Thank you very much for this option.
Both burgers were good the blue cheese was real blue cheese these are quality ingredients. Oh my gosh the french fries were so crispy and flavorful. Also there was garlic and pepper salt and seasoned salt available for your food.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful overall a great place.
I love the atmosphere the signs the music it's really a great diner type concept.
this one is worth getting off the interstate and coming up highway 53 between Tate and Jasper and stopping by anytime you're in this area.

Not impressed at all. Rueben was bland and burger appeared to be made from a frozen patty. My wife believes the burger wasn’t cooked all the way done. My wife liked the fries, I didn’t. It appeared to have a light pink hue. Might try tacos if we ever come back.

You order at counter as soon as you come in the door and they give you a pager that lets you know that you can go back to counter and get your food.

There’s a reason the tacos are 3$

I saw this place and wanted to give it a shot, since it was new. bought three different tacos: the buffalo chicken, the shrimp ‘chipotle’, and the “jasper” taco (pulled pork). The cashier was very nice, and my order didn’t take long. However, the buffalo chicken tasted similar to wendy’s, and was very cheap. the shrimp ‘chipotle’ was just a shrimp taco with cheese (nothing special, shrimp wasn’t too bad), and the “jasper” taco actually tasted quite well (looked nasty though). All the tacos were filled with lettuce.
the onion rings were decent for fast food.

I will definitely be returning to try the wings but they should DEFINITELY not be too proud of those tacos.

My first visit here as I’ve heard mixed opinions from friends since they opened. Very convenient to my house so I gave it a try tonight. Unfortunately very disappointed. Fries were legit, very good! Jasper Taco, see picture. Cold tortilla, bland pork, no bbq sauce or Cole slaw as posting on menu. The Reuben meat was on flat top to long, crunchy and had no thousand island dressing. I took it apart to check. Limited sauerkraut to one side of sandwich. The toasted bread was good. I ate my fries and a piece of bread with the Swiss cheese, Threw the rest away. Really missing the previous owner before it burned. RIP to Hwy 53 Tacos, Burgers and Subs.

Pulled off the hwy to grab a bite and was so impressed! Super kind owner and cashier. Food was generous and tasty. Fries and onion rings are the good kind. Would definitely visit again if we were in the area again.
