I was nervous after reading some reviews. After staying for 2 nights, it was pleasantly surprising that the hotel, while needing some repairs, wasn’t so bad. Our room was clean, quiet, and the beds were comfortable. There was some damage in the room (bathroom door, dresser drawer broken, spackling on the wall, lamp shades are in need of replacing). Overall though, we felt safe. There was a hint of smoke smell in the hallways, especially near the exit doors, but our room didn’t smell like smoke.

I stayed here one night on a visit to Mystic, despite some poor reviews. Honestly, I would come back. It wasn't nearly as bad as some reviewers said. My room was clean and quiet, and the bed was comfortable. You aren't paying for a five star hotel...I'm not sure what people are expecting at this price. It was exactly what I need. The bathroom was clean, the shower was hot, and there was coffee in the morning. The desk staff is helpful and polite. Plenty of parking. No one bothered us. No noise in the halls despite it being a Saturday night. Bit of a weed smell in some areas of the hotel, but being from NYC we're used to that. If you're concerned about that, just be aware. The room itself smelled clean. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

I stayed here for 5 days and enjoyed everything. I felt safe, the room was cozy and comfortable, bathroom was clean, mini fridge was clean too.

They have a small breakfast but 24/7 you can go into the cafe area and make coffee, get hot water for tea, or use the microwave.

Yes some people smoke outside, but that wasn’t an issue for me. My concern was a clean room, safe environment, access to making coffee and tea, and were the staff friendly? I was satisfied.

Was 4 throw pillows for king size bed. No regular pillows. Room has a not so good smell to it. Ok for just somewhere to lay your head for 1 night. Cigarette hold in bedspread. Refrigerator was unplugged upon arrival so couldn't put anything in it right away.

I spent a lot of time here and the cleaning lady’s were always so nice to me and they know how to clean very well, one of the nicest ones was the one in the laundry room when I went to ask her for anything she was so nice. The only person who was not very nice was Amanda at front desk I did not like how she would yell at the cleaners and always had an attitude. Something I also liked was the room it had an enough space for me and my husband to spend sometime there. Over all I liked the place but I don’t know how there is people like Amanda working there.

Booked online a few hours before arrival. The manager on duty, Amanda Riley, was incredibly prompt, professional and cheerful. The room was perfectly adequate and clean with hot water, clean sheets, a coffee maker, and a mini fridge. For the price it's one of the best motels I've stayed at. If you're expecting the Hilton, go pay for it. If you want a cheap and serviceable motel in a perfect location right off the highway then this one is the way to go.

I come up here at least twice a year to work jobs at the nearby Mohegan Sun Arena and Casino in Uncasville. I’ve stayed at other fairly inexpensive and dodgy motels like this one, this being the third different one I’ve stayed at. They’re all roughly the same for the price point - but they are not all created exactly equal. After this stay, I have a better idea of which ones I’d like to continue to patronize in the future and which ones I’ll steer clear of. This would be one of the ones to steer clear of.

In this somewhat rural area, you have a lot of sketchy-looking people who give off negative vibes who stay at these hotels. Who knows their reasons. But so far I haven’t been accosted, so I can deal with that. When I arrived, there were people standing around outside and there were many police officers. Someone was being arrested, it’s pretty clear, but it looked at first like the hotel was maybe on some sort of lockdown from a threat or something. Shortly after check-in, there were some negative things that just put me off that I had not experienced at comparable motels. The WiFi did not work and I had to leave my room to go to the front desk to ask about it. Throughout my stay, it continued to go in and out, kicking me off and needing to be reconnected. I don’t know what kind of prison designer installed the bathroom sinks, but the faucets were extremely difficult to turn on and off and I fail to see the reason for this design. There was a spilled wine or some other stain on my carpet that had clearly never been cleaned. All over, tolerable, but frustrating.

But the worst, and the final straw for me, was the checkout process. Mind you, I am thankful they gave me an extended checkout time (hotel checkout times are ALWAYS too early) but I did NOT appreciate being harassed when it was time for me to leave. Yes, I was a little behind my time checking out, but it is always the way you say and do things that matters more than the actual thing itself. FOUR times, they knocked at the door (and I had responded to each knock). The first knock came when I was in the shower. Of course. It was just housekeeping, but it was the continuous knocks that bothered me. The last knock was the young woman from the front desk herself. She was rude in her delivery, demanding that I be out in the 15 minutes I said it would take me to just finish getting ready to leave. I heard her walk away cursing and muttering under her breath. Again, thank you for the late checkout accommodation and I’m sorry I was late, but NO need for the rude attitude. It is not as if I was still in the room when it was time for the next guest to check in, OR like I was preventing housekeeping from making up the bed again or cleaning.

I did not experience this at the other small motels in Groton, and trust me, they had their own issues. But their sinks weren’t nearly impossible to turn on and off, and the rooms I stayed at in those places were a little cleaner. Oh, and their WiFi networks worked pretty consistently too.

I will not be staying at the Super 8 in Groton again.

For starters- Ugh!!!! What a lousy place. We’d gotten out of the car and as we approached the door we’d gotten an overpowering whiff of marijuana. It was so gross. Sometimes it triggers my asthma. As we entered the foyer, the couch sitting there was extremely worn out and it looks like it’s been there since the 1960s. The place is completely rundown they advertise outside that they have a free breakfast, but all it is is juice, coffee, and a danish. There A dirty white washcloth on the floor against the door to keep it open. It looks slummy. They could easily pick up a doorstop at a hardware store for pennies furniture was coming apart. The wall needed to repair, the bed was comfortable, but that was about the only good thing which is important of course. young lady at the front desk was nice. At about 1 PM in we were in bed and we could hear somebody trying to get in the room. I was very angry. After some rumbling around with the door, the front desk person came to our door and announced themselves . When I acknowledge this person, she said she was sorry that there was a misunderstanding about the availability of the room. That was really lame. Apparently they’re computer crashed or something and our room was checked out as we had left. One person mentioned that this place was like a halfway house and I have to agree. We could tell that some people live there. Not complaining about that but they’d always linger by the doorway entrance and that’s not OK really because it gives a bad impression for the Hotel. We were very unimpressed and will never go back. Everything needs to be upgraded in that place. One more thing, the screen in the window looks like somebody tried to break in and it is a first floor room. That’s not very encouraging!
