We celebrated a birthday with dinner for six, and although our server was clearly new, the hibachi and sushi chefs were excellent. However, management needs to improve their training process. I had sushi for two, which was good, but the plate was lacking enough ginger and wasabi, which made me feel cheated. My main complaint is that my sushi arrived long before the hibachi food, making it difficult for us to eat together. Be aware that menu prices do not match those listed online, and the hibachi seating area is quite cramped. Despite these issues, I would recommend this place, but be prepared for higher prices than expected, as our bill for 4 people with water was $125 without tip, which is double what Google shows with the online menu.

The atmosphere was ok the place I sat at the seat wasnt by the wall so I was half on and off but I squeezed to sit all onto it. Our server was amazing and the food was delightful.

TL;DR
Sumo Hibachi Sushi is a great spot for fast service, amazing food, and a fun hibachi experience. While some areas feel a little outdated, it doesn’t take away from the overall experience.

Location
I’ll admit, I almost always miss the entrance, but that’s on me. I love that it’s right by Lowe’s in case I need something, and it’s so convenient being next to the UPS Store and Staples for Amazon returns. There’s even a nail salon nearby that I still need to try!

Service
The service here is always fantastic. The food comes out so quickly it feels like they knew what I wanted before I even ordered. Everyone who’s waited on us has been super nice and attentive. When we tried hibachi, they went above and beyond with balloon animals and a made a napkin rose.

Food
The food is consistently amazing—I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal here. My only “complaint” is that I wish I could eat more at one time because everything is so good! (I will say the hibachi was a little too salty, but I think that depends on the cook you get. I still ate it so it couldn’t have been that bad).

Ambiance
My husband pointed out that the restaurant feels outdated and area around the sushi bar feels cluttered with to-go boxes. While it doesn’t bother me much, it’s something to note if you’re particular about ambiance. That said, the dining area is clean and comfortable, and I’m usually too focused on the food to notice.

Other Comments
I’m so happy this place exists. It’s always a great experience, and I can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I's first time here, service was amazing with no wait time. Food was absolutely amazing hands down the best hibachi in new Philly. We didn't have them cook infront of us, my husband and I sat at a booth. The price you pay for the food is excellent you get a lot of food. Will definitely be coming back ☺️

This was our first time here. It was fantastic! The food was fresh and delicious. Everyone was so nice, it was my nieces birthday and they made her feel so special and sang to her, then played a birthday song on the speakers and brought her some fried ice cream. The chef was so funny and interacted so much with all of the kids. From beginning to end it was a very great experience. We will definitely return.

I got the christmas sushi roll and my dinner partner got the shrimp hibachi. The roll was disappointing, not gross but seemed to have little to no flavor. The Wasabi was a very small, dried out portion, I never received chopsticks and we had to grab soy sauce from an empty table nearby as service was not on point that day. The hibachi came out 25 minutes after my roll and it was very good, we did enjoy the noodles especially. We ordered 2 piña colada and 2 waters and got one of each, which was fine since the colada was mainly large chunks of ice and not very good. Maybe if you go for the whole hibachi experience, you'll have a better time, but as someone who does not enjoy that aspect, I would not be in any hurry to return unfortunately.

If I could give zero stars I would it's valentines and my date has never seen the performance we waited for 30 mins in the waiting area if you wanna call it that the owner was sitting people at tables that didn't want to see the performance they sat us in front of the grill and severed are food from the back kitchen and the food was mediocre at best the lobster was not even in the tail it was lobster bites in a lobster tail I talked to the owner lady and she said she would give us the drinks free 2 daquris 1 virgen one.my plate alone was 50 its not about the price I wanted to give my date the experience I was tricked and she knew it and did nothing but talked in circles
