This is an older hotel that has had a recent exterior facelift. Inside, the rooms are very much from the '70s. They're clean, and everything you need, but not much to write home about. My husband and I shared room with their college age son. The floor plan made that awkward since the sink area was open to the room, with only a tiny bathroom with toilet and shower. Also the refrigerator and microwave was in the same room as the sink. So my husband was fixing breakfast in the same room where I was fixing my hair. It was awkward. On the plus side, The people who run the place were really sweet. I asked for some tea which they didn't have, so she ran upstairs to her personal stash and got me some. Great service! It's also just down the street from Harris beach, one of our favorites.

When we arrived in Brookings we checked out a few other Motels, and this was by far the best as far as price and presentation. The new Manager with his trusty offsider(Good Girl) have done a great job bringing this motel back in shape. Rooms were very clean, bed very comfortable and located far enough off the highway so very quiet.|We had a room on the ground floor and when the guests staying in the room above us decided to depart at 0430 in the morning it was a tad noisy. So highly recommend a top level room.|

I stayed here once before. It wasn't great but it was cheap. This time, June 2020, I checked in and went to the room. It smelled like a kennel. I'm concerned about Covid, so I got my wipes out to do a little cleaning. First I found dried toothpaste in and around the sink. Then I found dry dog food on the floor. When I knelt down to clean the floor I found poo on the baseboard under the sink. That did it. I got my money back and left. The clerk was quick to give a refund, but did not apologize. I admit I was aggravated. Considering the Covid concerns I thought this was really bad. The clerk just made excuses about his new, untrained, short handed staff. He said if I was so concerned I shouldn't be traveling. Maybe he's right but I don't think anyone wants a room that has poo in it. Poo! Really!

I stayed at the Spindrift for three days in mid July||The room was clean and comfortable, the bed was great. The people alwere friendly and down to earth. They made me feel right at home.The housekeeping staff was excellent and even checked to see if I needed anything when they saw me because I had the Privacy sign out.||They cleaned my room really fast so as not to disturb me. Much appreciated.||I had heard not so great things in the past about this property but it is under new management and they have really turned it around. Well done!!Forget the outdated reviews, this place deserves an A for effort. Stay there. You wont be sorry.

The room was ok. It had 3 beds and a balcony that you could see bay at angle. I never really write bad reviews but this hotel I will never stay at again. We had no maid service at all. They only give you bars of soap. No shampoo or anything else. My one pillow had spots on it like it was not even cleaned. The people before us had a towel outside and I know this because it was there when we got the room. Wooden stairs to climb so if you afraid of steps dont go. No coffee for Coffee pot or tea. I am one that goes with flow but no maid service was outrageous. We went to beach and came back after couple of hours and room was not touched we then relaxed no knocking on door or anything. Went out all night and still nothing. No door hanger to say do not disturb or anything. They dont have one. Cant see ocean at all. Not sure if you have a view from first floor at all. Walls are thin to where you hear everything next door even the door opening.

when we arrived there, we booked a room that was for pets. The people next to us had a big dog and my wife went and asked the desk person if we could change to another room so as not to have any problems.She said it is what it is and she couldn't do anything about it. The room smelled like wet dogs and the furniture has big stains in them. Wouldn't sit on them at all.The door moldings are broken and screwed on and cought my shorts. There was food in the refer from the previous travelers. You get what you pay for and this was not much. No a/c

Quiet for being right off Hwy 101 near the end of town. Room was clean, everything worked, and had some amenities. Compared to other motels in a surprisingly (to me anyway) increasing priced market of SW Oregon, the Spindrift is a good value. One drawback: it is located on a downward slope, so the motel design is staggered. Walking on the 2nd floor feels odd and in some places one would have to duck if they were tall to avoid hitting ones head on the extended roof. One bonus: There is a large field next to the motel--not sure who it belongs to--that had deer in it in the morning. I walked through it because it leads to a viewing area of the beach, which, according to a well-know internet mapping site, is a protected marine area (no signs, you just have to know its there by looking it up).

Hotel looked like it had new ownership and was trying hard. Room was quite large and clean overall. Only issue we noted was coffee pot in room was not cleaned and had mold in the coffee. Otherwise, everything else was good and could not be beat for the price. Would recommend if you are passing thru.
