If your visit to St Mary's is to experience the charm of this small coastal town, then the Spencer House Inn is a perfect complement to your visit. This 150 inn has been operational for 150 years, and the current inn keepers have enthusiastic pride in the property and the ongoing improvements they've made to ensure it's comfort, convenience and decor are appreciated by the guests. Lisa, Jane and Penny are just some of staff that ensured our satisfaction attending to any need. The room was beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable and had all the modern conveniences. We loved sitting on the front porch and had an enjoyable chat with other guests. The location was in the center of town within walking distance to the shops and most restaurants. We'll be back later this year to enjoy more of this coastal gem.

Wonderful older building, tastefully decorated. Breakfasts were spectacular, and enticing aromas filled the air as the chef was preparing evening meals. Unfortunately we had made other plans for dinner, but at least we had time for a relaxing glass of wine on the comfortable porch. All service personnel were friendly and accommodating. Great experience all around.

Our group of 24 friends from our island in South Carolina rented this Inn for two days. Miss Penny was so very helpful and made our stay so seamless. All the rooms were so well appointed with lush Brooklinen towels and Beekman toiletries… we had a beautiful happy hour on the day we arrived, and Jane arranged for two wonderful appetizer plates to complement the drinks that we ordered from their very complete bar. Breakfast each morning was exquisite … Made to order eggs with your choice of bacon or sausage, plus an array of pastries, bagels, toast, and homemade biscuits, as well as juice, coffee, tea, and fruit. We went to Cumberland Island for the day, and Miss Penny arranged for all our box lunches for the group of 24 of us. The lunches were delicious and very satisfying. As we were finishing our stay at this beautiful Inn, Miss Penny surprised us all with gifts of bath salts that Jane arranged for all of us.. we will all be back to stay at this all accommodating inn… Thank you to Miss Penny, Jane, Lisa and all the staff.

Parking was a breeze, and Penny checked us in. She gave a brief tour, and answered all of our questions. Our room (2 Queen beds), was clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable, and temperature was perfect. Breakfast was prepared for us by Lisa, and it was wonderful! The Inn is small, and it was the off season, but the selection was amazing: bacon, eggs, grits, cereal, granola, fruit, pastries, toast, yogurt, teas, coffee, and juices. The owner was also there, and took the time to ask if we needed anything. It was a really great stay, and I would return. Great job, Spencer House Team!

Spencer House Inn was total gem. The Inn is beautifully maintained and well organised. It is a historic inn, and so the rooms are ‘historically sized’ however the climate control was fantastic, beds were comfortable, there was plenty of room for all our stuff and there’s no lack of options you would hope for (tvs, refrigeration, access to a keurig, ice!). We took advantage of the big outside porch with lots of comfy seating to enjoy the sunset, and the big lounge area. There were a lot of small details that were really outstanding. Every single person we interacted with was just awesome - thank you Penny, Sophie and Kristy for making our stay over Thanksgiving so easy and comfy!!

The Inn was decorated beautifully for the holidays & conveniently located in historic downtown St. Marys. We really enjoyed our stay with delicious breakfasts and comfortable rooms. The staff was amazing and very accommodating to all our needs. Thanks to the Spencer House for making the holiday weekend so relaxing and enjoyable!! We will recommend this B&B to all our family who are visiting the city.

Decided to stay in st Mary's and called on a whim. Spoke to Miss Penny. She is charming and very welcoming. Made our stay such a pleasure. Breakfast was very good and food was fresh and made to order. Would highly recommend
