Back in the Birmingham area for a few days, my wife and I chose this location based on good reviews here and on the Choice Hotels website. Although it could use a little TLC here and there, this hotel is clean and quiet...just what we look for. ||We checked in on a Wednesday afternoon for 4 nights, and were assisted by a very friendly and sweet team member. We always request a room on the uppermost floor, if available, to avoid overhead noise, but in this case our room was on the 2nd of 3 floors and our first night was fine.||Breakfast was typical Choice fare, served in a clean and bright area behind the lobby, and food was kept refilled. We headed out for our activities in the city and returned late afternoon to find our room keycard didn't unlock our room. My wife tried the door handle, and opened the door without using the keycard...our room was not locked, and the door lock was not working. We reported the situation in person to another friendly team member at the front desk, and she relocated us to a room on the 3rd floor. We found the same issue with the door lock on that room, so we were relocated again to another room on the 3rd floor. This door lock had the same issue, but we opted to stay with that room, knowing the deadbolt and latch would suffice for Thursday night. We were assured that the issue would be fixed the next day...24-hr. maintenance was no longer available. ||Before heading into the city on Friday morning we loaded our luggage back into the car, not wanting to leave our things in an unlocked room, but leaving a jacket, snack bag and laundry bags in the closet, and 3 drinks in the refrigerator. When we returned late afternoon the door lock issue was resolved and our keycard opened the door. We loaded our luggage back into the room, which had been fully serviced by housekeeping (we had asked for only towels to be refreshed). I noticed that the luggage rack had been returned to the closet, placed next to our bags of soiled laundry. I opened to refrigerator to find 2 of the 3 drink bottles missing. ||I reported the missing items in person to a team member at the front desk. We had not seen her before and she shrugged it off, saying she could ask housekeeping, assuming they had removed the items. No apology or offer of replacement. With our room having been serviced and the luggage rack returned to the closet where we obviously had left our things, it seems unlikely the housekeeping is responsible for the 2 missing drinks...why not take all three and remive our items from the closet? We don't know how long it took for the lock issue to be fixed on Friday, or who actually removed the drinks. I was very disappointed in the reaction by the team member.||We returned late afternoon on Saturday to find that sweet and friendly team member at the front desk, and when we relayed our story and concerns, she apologized and said there should be security recordings showing who had been in our room. Our time at this hotel was ending, so we dropped it, but still felt uneasy about items have been taken from our room.||Overall, our experience here was positive, and all but one team member took great care of us. I definitely recommend staying here, and would do so again.

Positive: It was clean Negative: Breakfast was awful. No coffee, no cups, yogurt was spoiled...and there was still 1.5 hrs left of breakfast. Room was very small. Housekeeping walked in our room at 9:30am. No knock, just unlocked the door and walked in.

I usually love the Sleep Inn. It has long been my choice of hotels to stay in while traveling. This one is awful. The rooms are matchboxes, the bathroom is a closet and not a single room has a bathtub. Just showers. My love for this hotel system has been sorely tainted by this one. Not recommended.

I have stayed at this hotel many times and this is the first time I was very very disappointed. The first room I was given, I unlocked the door only to walk into an occupied room with suitcases and messy beds. So I went back downstairs and was given a second room on the third floor. I opened the door and the room was a mess. The beds were a mess and there were dirty towels on the floor. So, I went downstairs again only to have to wait for 20 minutes while the clerk decided to walk around and look for a room. While I was waiting for a third room, a gentleman came to the counter and said that his lady friend left some of her clothes in one of the first two rooms they were given. So I was not the only one that was done this way.
So, once in my room I was concerned that they would check someone else in and give them a key to my room while I was in there.
Also, the shower was not very clean and the ice machine was dirty and had broken pieces.
This was the worst experience I have ever had at this hotel. Will not be using them again.

The room is really small, with two full sized beds, NOT queen sized. So this room is fine for two people sleeping in separate beds, but for four people it would be really cramped. There is a decent stand up shower, no tub. The TTV is small. The pillows are even small. The electrical outlets were all loose from wear. But there is a refrigerator and a microwave, and several restaurants within walking distance. And a free breakfast. Not my favorite place, but good enough.

We have stayed at 8 other Choice Hotels in the last month. This is the best. I have had no problems, it's clean and in very good condition. The staff is good, friendly and helpful. I told the manager, Shemkia Thomas that I am happy with this lodging.

We always stay at a choice hotel when traveling but this is the first time that we stayed at a sleep Inn. We stayed 4 days while we came up for Talladega weekend and we were impressed. The rooms were clean but it did have a little bit of a must smell. The front desk staff was extremely friendly. Nika and Jamonica we're all smiles every time we came past the front desk. That was a breath of fresh air. Kudos to these ladies!! Even housekeeping was all smiles. There was plenty to choose from for breakfast And with the breakfast area being so busy in the morning, The staff worked diligently to keep the area clean, the tables wiped down and the food well stocked. Our previous two choice hotel visits had let us down but the staff at this hotel restored our faith. We'll be returning to this hotel for the spring race at Talladega.

Sleep Inn was a very clean, fresh smelling, hotel with kind employees and a nice breakfast. Ken was particularly kind and attentive, greeted every time we came in and out (we stayed two nights and he registered us and was there all the next day).
