Great start of the day with a great Southern meal with Simply Southern Cafe.

A simple cafe run by people who loved to feed people with their good Southern food.
It is cafeteria style run with set meals & prices attached. It appears that they have different meals each day.
As you enter, the menu board reflects the daily specials of the day.
We had oxtail stew with 3 sides. The stew was served on rice, for sides we had the green beans ( yummy), corn pudding (it was packed with corn & delicious), yam (it was cooked in brown sugar, quite sweet but oh soo.. yummy) served with corn bread or roll. We opted for the corn bread.
We had the pork chop & fried chicken meal. The pork chop was coated with a dry rub & a light coating, you can taste garlic & onion taste to the fried pork chops. Their fried chicken was outstanding, crispy in the outside & so moist on the inside even chicken breast which is challenging to deep fry while keeping the inside moist. We also had Mac & Cheese as one of the sides, one of the best we had.. real cheddar cheese on the Mac.

I liked everything but the meatloaf not the best I've had, but the cabbage was really good! Cabbage and cornbread was my favorite part of this meal. The line wasn't long and it didn't take long at all but I thought it was weird they had a no phone sign.

We’ve been wanting to try this place out for quite a while. Today, we were in the area and definitely not disappointed and well with the wait. Ribs were tender falling off the bone, cabbage and fried okra was perfectly seasoned. Steadily stream of people coming in and the ladies behind the serving line kept it going.

I love a good Soul Food spot, and this is one of them! One of the best in Montgomery, AL! I dined in for lunch one day an hour after they opened and found that they were already out of Yams!

I got turkey & dressing, mac & cheese, lima beans, a corn muffin, and peach cobbler. Everything was on point EXCEPT the mac and cheese, which is weird cause theirs is always delicious without a question. It tasted like it came out the box, but they put it in the oven.

There was barely a line, and the customer service was friendly as ALWAYS. The place was clean, and very festive!

The food was great, the service was ok, and the atmosphere was pure chaos. This is not a dine in restaurant its pick up only. Being a visitor in the area you walk in and you have no idea which way to go, how to go about ordering, you simply become a robot and get in line and wait your turn. There is no restaurant professionalism, simply "next, light or dark, gravy, what sides... next. " There was a disruption that caused some alarm between a customer and staff member, which caused the entire staff in the back to come out front. This made for a run or look for cover situation, but they did have security to remove the problem. I'm not sure how long they have been in business, but there is a lot of work to be done. This gives literally mean to "hole in the wall" as there is a plexiglass cut-out where front staff speaks with kitchen staff. All restaurant supplies are stored out front in the open. The food is delicious, real home cooking, but you've got to get past and overlook the rest to enjoy the experience of the good foodand it is good food.

Hi folks
Well those of you who are hungry and want some good old fashioned Southern food and you can't wait to get into the southern part of the country well I tell you.
I've seen lions in the supermarket,
But when you see lines for people waiting to go eat that's definitely telling you something the wait was worth it because it's when it's your turn to get served and you see the food and you already getting hungry.
I must say folks the food is fantastic and the price is good too so if you're looking for some good Southern fried Chicken candy yams and collard greens they got it amongst other stuff there too that they have which is really good.
So if you're in Montgomery Alabama or passing through you got to check them out.
And get your eating on.
Make sure you're hungry ,

Spoke to some neighbors as a good place to eat.. and Simply Southern came up ..
Today(Wed.) had Meat Loaf / Mash Potatoes with Mac &Cheese and Cabbage. The food was good.. there's no bells or whistles .. no Peach Cobbler or Red Velvet Cake?.. or gravy for my mash..

This was my first time trying this Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. Perfectly seasoned without being salty.

Ordered: Ribs with Mac and Cheese and Yams; Fried Chicken with Mac and Rice; also got a side of green beans.

Chicken was fried well and you can taste that it was fried in clean oil.

Will be back again!
