Nothing against Kanab, it's a nice tourist town but we were surprised to find a restaurant of this caliber. Especially since it's not a chain restaurant which Utah is so fond of.

We were staying at the attached hotel and we were tired from driving. After looking over the menu at the front desk, we thought we'd give it a try but we didn't have any expectations.

As a "silver haired couple" we arrived when they opened. So no waiting. I suggest reservations if you visit during the prime tourist season or if you have a large party.

All the employees were a pleasure to interact with, including our server Sam. She was very busy, but maintained her friendly personality throughout. Even providing the background of the restaurant and chef/owners.

Everything was clean, comfortable and the price is appropriate for quality.

The food is served similar to tapas but the servings are a bit larger so you can share. We ordered four plates plus dessert and we left full but delightfully so. I also had the Aun No Muerto drink and it was delicious, the Mr. enjoyed the peach hard lemonade and enjoyed it as well.

We started with the asparagus, I enjoyed this way more than I should have! The way it was sliced, the sauce and nuts truly brought out the flavor. Then we had the gnocchi chef special, gnocchi made from masa! Amazing. Our last two were Chicken Satay and Street Food XOI. We loved both of these as well but my favorite was the way the sticky rice was prepared. The crunchy texture along with the sauce and egg, amazing!

For dessert we enjoyed the cookie sundae and chocolate souffle. Both were delicious, including the strawberry heart surrounding the souffle. 😁

We may have to visit Kanab just for the purpose of dining here, rather than waiting until we have to drive through.

Sooo yummy. We had a hard time choosing our dishes, but we ended up choosing well. Between the two of us we split the beets, broccoli, sweet and spicy ribs, and duck lo mein. We were able to walk in at around 7:30 pm on a Saturday, but it is slow season.

I am commenting on my dads phone because the food is fantastic! I personally liked the Elote. One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to! 😄

Nice place, we got a nice quiet spot. The food looked gorgeous, the flavors were good, the texture was awesome, but it was SO. SALTY. Almost to the point of being inedible. It was unpleasantly salty. And I like salt! We couldn’t even finish our main meal. We will try our leftovers again after a day of hiking, tomorrow.
We got the asparagus, which was sliced thin and on top of cabbage with peanuts. Really yummy (again too salty). We had the elite fritters, duck lo mein (the duck was perfectly medium rare and a beautiful texture) and mee goreng.

One server came over and gave us a dish with real flourish, explaining what was in it and was great. Our server didn’t explain anything that was in it, and didn’t seem to want to be there. I hope they are okay, but I didn’t feel like she really cared when I mentioned our appetizers being really salty.

We entered here wanting to love this place. Tho reviews have been amazing and it was very slow for a Saturday, so our hopes were high. The charcuterie board was good. The grilled Caesar was delicious and the fried egg was a work of genius. The elote fritters were a delicious nod to the Mexican heritage that inspired them. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. But the “prime rib”, the cut of meat that I was looking forward to the most… they brought out this glorious, 2” thick slice of meat and I was so excited! And… it was overcooked. We ordered medium rare, and, at best, this was medium well, and closer to well done. I’ve never been so heartbroken over a damn steak.

We had dinner at Sego on September 3 at the recommendation of the Canyons Lodge. I guess it is connected to Canyons Lodge but is located across the street but a short walk.
The thing we enjoyed most was the atmosphere. It was early September so the temperature was nice in the evening. Be sure to ask for an outdoor table.
The gentleman who greeted us explained how we should order and recommended that we order 3 to 5 items off the menu. I think we ordered 4: a pretty good strawberry - berry salad, Charsiu, Satay, and the potatoes. The idea is that you should share these dishes with each other. As it turns out, my wife and I were not a fan of the process. Maybe it is convenient for the kitchen to send out what they fixed next. But we were wanting to have something else to eat with the potatoes - for example. We had to figure out how to eat the Charsiu - it consisted of BBQ pork, some crispy noodles, a soy type sauce, and some lettuce leaves. We figured that we had to wrap things in the lettuce but made a mess with falling noodles and dripping sauce. It tasted good, though. The Satay - basically chicken on a stick, by the time it came out we could barely finish it as it seemed at the that point we had eaten enough.
Basically though, no issues with food quality - I just think it is a process issue. I do give them credit for trying to be creative. But it was hard to figure out how to order so you don't waste food or spend too much. Maybe we should have ordered one dish at a time. But - we still had room for the good Apple Crisp for desert!

Picture included is the nice sunset we watched from the porch.
