• This place is excellent to stay. I just spent here the majority of the week and I found it very cozy. It is tiny but simple. My goal was to stay for six nights for work purposes and found this tiny room the perfect deal for the price. The manager is a super nice guy and great location. Bathrooms are larger than expected. They even clean your room everyday it was nice. I would stay here again.

This place is excellent to stay. I just spent here the majority of the week and I found it very cozy. It is tiny but simple. My goal was to stay for six nights for work purposes and found this tiny room the perfect deal for the price. The manager is a super nice guy and great location. Bathrooms are larger than expected. They even clean your room everyday it was nice. I would stay here again.

I’ve been staying at the Royal Gateway Motel in Bend regularly during my trips for medical appointments, and overall, it’s been a positive experience. This motel is an excellent option for budget-conscious travelers. While it’s not a luxury stay, it provides all the basics you’d need, much like a Motel 6.
The location is highly convenient. It’s close to grocery stores and fast food restaurants and offers easy access to Hwy 97. Whether you’re heading to St. Charles Medical Center (just 15 minutes away) or exploring the Old Mill District (about 10 minutes away), the motel’s location makes it a practical base. Despite being situated on a busy 4-lane road, I’ve found the rooms to be surprisingly quiet, which is a huge plus.
As a single senior female frequently traveling alone, I’ve always felt perfectly safe staying here. The managers are a standout feature of this motel—extremely hospitable and eager to assist with any needs or questions. However, I strongly recommend booking directly with the motel rather than using the OYO app. The management has no control over reservations made through OYO, and I’ve had a frustrating experience with the app, including a double booking, rude customer service, and only a partial refund. While I have also used Booking.com, I’ve found that calling the front desk directly has consistently provided me with the best rates and service.
I believe the Royal Gateway Motel is a great choice for those seeking an affordable, quiet, and comfortable place to stay in Central Oregon. While it’s not fancy, it delivers on the basics, and the warm, helpful management makes a big difference. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to stretch their travel budget while enjoying a convenient location.

Rooms are what you pay for. The staff is atrocious. The husband screamed at my Deaf husband because we asked for a copy of the receipt. The husband was cool with me last night but the wife kept going off and talking bad in Spanish. Ummmm I speak Spanish and told her in Spanish that I understand her. Not family friendly. My husband is Deaf and has a service dog. They don't allow service dogs at ALL. Or it's a $260 charge. So we left him in the car. I took videos of the whole room and everything at checkout to protect myself because they seem super shady and wouldn't give a receipt. You get what you pay for.

Great stay at Royal Gateway!
Could not ask for more at $50/night. Room was clean and freshly painted. Same for the sheets/towels. Bed comfortable. After 12 hrs of driving we were very happy. Hot hot water in the shower was exactly what we needed! Very friendly and kind hosts. Highly recommended!
PS. Great tacos and burrito at Don Gabinos nearby!

I have been staying at this motel for around a month now and the people that run it are the nicest people I have ever met. The rooms are very nice, clean and very affordable. Very close to some fast food places and the grocery store. Couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

Rooms were decent, little dirty. Heater doesn't work that well, water plumbing sucks, hard to get the right temp. Got super hot at times, toilet ran all night. Staff was friendly. Wifi on the TV sucks bad. I couldn't watch TV cause it went out so much. Pillows are super small, need was stained and dirty.

Don’t even bother with them. Terrible customer service. We accidentally only had 1 guest on the reservation for a king room that said 2 people max capacity. We didn’t realize the error until we went to check in and they refused to let us both stay. We altered the reservation online to the 2 guests but they wouldn’t approve it. We had to lose the $60 and went down the road to Holiday and it was nice with helpful staff for the same price.

I’m not sure how this place has any good reviews. I booked a room about 2 hours before I arrived. I have a service dog and looked on the website to make sure this was ok as I always do before booking. Website clearly states that service animals are allowed. Upon walking in to check in I was met with a woman yelling at me that pets aren’t allowed and that I would be charged extra for another person as my boyfriend was with me. She was very rude about it and literally screaming at me. I asked her to calm down and explained that my dog is a service dog and she proceeded to interrupt me and say again that pets aren’t allowed and that the website states that goes for service animals as well. Before I could get any words out she continued to scream about other things and was not making any sense so I just walked out and called to cancel. They would not give me a refund since I did not cancel before the time period which was at 9 am FIVE HOURS BEFORE I EVEN BOOKED THE ROOM!! They are not doing anything for me and I will not be giving them my business.
