Burger has a nice charred taste on the edges, good pickles, and fresh toppings. It's below 5 Guys but above InnOut in the burger hierarchy. The chocolate cake is mid, tastes kind of like a Little Debbie's or grocery store cake.

What can I say about this amazing restaurant! This review is long overdue. I absolutely love eating here. Hands down the best Italian beef sandwiches I have ever eaten! Always amazing food, atmosphere and great customer service! The chocolate cake!!!! Wowww, another must have! It's a good thing they are in Gilbert, otherwise I would go broke eating here every day 🙃. I did hear they are opening a new location in West Chandler. This is very dangerous for me. I won't be able to stay away!

On a side note. I do wish Portillo's would offer gluten-free buns so my wife could experience the Italian beef sandwich.

I feel almost guilty about rating a chain 5 stars but they deserve it!
Food is very good, made fresh, & large portions! The char-broiled chicken sandwich, burgers, hot dogs, chili-dog, are all delicious & everything is made correctly w/one small exception, the celery seed is either missing or sparse as hell, on hot dog.
Onion rings are the best!
The chocolate cake is good for fast food.
The strawberry shake is awesome!
The chocolate malt does not have enough malt, so I have to pay for extra malt just to taste it.
Service is exceptional, employees are always friendly and they actually clean their tables here, unlike most restaurants!
Large restaurant with plenty of seating and fun vibe.
We don’t like Spicy Chicken Salad, too spicy.
Fries are kinda basic and no fry sauce which is crazy to me.
If there’s ever a problem or a long wait, they are great at making it up to you as in they offer and you don’t have to complain or beg , which is why they are our new dependable regular place to eat. One time my chicken got stuck in machine, and it took a bit to get a new one.

Wonderful food. If you asked for your beef dipped, also ask for a side of gravy because they do not dip the sandwich they add extra gravy. Juicy and dipped are 2 different things, lol. It's still very tasty!!!!

For a fast food restaurant, Portillo's feels like a unique experience. The layout of this location is great, with tons of seating space. The food was delicious, and it is great to see a good Chicago-style restaurant in the local area.

Portillo's is a festive, casual dining experience. I met a buddy for lunch, prayer, and reading the Bible together.

You place your order, pay, find your favorite booth or table, inside or outside, and listen for your number.

I ordered the crispy fish sandwich and a Greek salad. Both were good. he ordered a Philly cheese, fries, onion rings, and a Chicago Dog. He ate everything, so it must have been good.

For dessert, I manhandled the strawberry shortcake while he did the chocolate eclair. Mine was good, I think he's going to try something different next time. Can't win 'em all.

We'll both be back!

Very great fast food place! They have a great variety of menu items and their hot dogs are amazing. Service was good and was able to get my food in a timely manner. Definitely recommend.

Mywife and I tried the new spicy chicken salad & the new pecan chicken salad & both were delicious. I personally like the spicy chicken salad better because the chicken had a slight bite to it plus the salad had small pieces of their giardiniera peppers in it (added flavor without being hot). We also split a large order of onion rings - amazing. Nicely breaded and fried to perfection. Overall, an outstanding lunch. Not crowded. Very friendly & helpful at the counter when ordering and the food comes out pretty fast. Plenty of parking.
