Five-Star Experience at Penn Station – Troy, Ohio

We recently visited the Penn Station East Coast Subs location in Troy, Ohio, and we couldn't have been more impressed. From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and prompt, friendly service. It's clear this location takes pride in both their food and customer experience.

We ordered the classic cheesesteak, fresh-cut fries, and an ice-cold Mountain Dew, and every item exceeded expectations.

The cheesesteak was phenomenal—perfectly grilled steak, smothered in melted provolone, and nestled in fresh, warm bread that was lightly toasted to perfection. The balance of flavors was spot-on, and the portion size was generous. Every bite was hot, juicy, and incredibly satisfying.

The fries were equally impressive. Hand-cut and made fresh to order, they were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and lightly salted—exactly how fries should be. You can tell they take the time to do them right, which makes all the difference.

As for the Mountain Dew, it was the cherry on top. Served ice-cold with the perfect carbonation, it paired great with the meal and rounded out the experience.

What really stood out was the exceptional customer service. The team behind the counter was friendly, efficient, and genuinely seemed to care about making our visit a good one. They checked in on us, kept the dining area clean, and handled a steady lunch rush with professionalism and speed.

We’ll definitely be returning soon. If you're in the Troy area and craving a great cheesesteak with unbeatable service, Penn Station is the place to go.

Ordered 2 Philly cheese steaks tonight to go and they were so greasy that the bread wasn't even bread by the time I got back home. It was literal mush. Very disappointing. It didn't used to be like this. I won't be coming back. Submarine house has better quality and greater portion sizes for what you pay.

The fries are fresh cut potatoes and the Dagwood is what I go to. The Dagwood is a good multi meat grilled if you want it that way sub. Corned beef, Turkey, salami and such. I opt out of the ham but they have that also. The place is clean and fast service. Oh and did I say fresh cut fries?

If you walk in, you are a second class citizen compared to the Instacart folks. And I go to other fast food joints that fulfill Instacart orders and get treated much better. The girl in the back was flirting with everyone instead of working and making excuses for why they were so slow and the cashier left the register to "clean up" areas of the restaurant that were already clean while she ignored the actual mess. The food was good but everything else was terrible. Very poorly managed

I would love to give more than 3 stars because I love the food here. The problem is when you order double of meat and cheese on a sandwich that already costs a fortune and you still don’t get it, or this place’s idea of portions is really off. There’s a problem. So sorry, there’s a better place around now that is willing to actually put some meat and cheese on the sandwich without robbing us. The name of the place is Steak Escape!

Husband, kids and I came here and right off the bat the employees seemed like they were in a terrible mood. Got our orders in, my husband ordered double meat and veggies for a Philly and mine was regular (meat, cheese and mayo), got the kids 2 small Phillys (one with banana peppers). We got our food and immediately knew there wasn't double meat and banana peppers were on both of the kids' Phillys. We brought it to the, maybe, manager or shift leads attention. She literally said "oh yeah, that's double meat it just looks different because of the veggies and how it's weighed". She was not friendly. She seriously acted as if she hated her job and that it's an inconvenience to even be at work. There was absolutely no way that my husband's philly was double meat and we paid for it. Needless to say, we didn't push the issue. We got the one sub fixed for the kids. However, we will not be coming to this location again. The Philly on the bottom is mine and the one with fries at the top was supposed to be double meat, cheese and veggies.

SIDE NOTE:
CLEARLY BY THE LOOKS OF THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS, THIS LOCATION NEEDS NEW BETTER TRAINED STAFF.

I love the Ruben here. But the unsanitary and rudeness isn't worth it. My husband used to work there and stopped because od how nasty they are. He didn't want to be a part of it. It has been awhile so thought I'd try it again. And both girls there has bad attitude and acted like they hated life. I orderd my food she was rude a young girl with a head band on. She had gloves on and was taking orders, cash register, making food. All with the same gloves on. There were to lady's in front of me. The one just looked at the young girl as she was being rude. The 2nd said thank you and the girl didn't say anything. So I told her she needed to loose the attitude and maybe this isn't the job for her. The other lady wasn't much better.

Unfortunately, this was the worst quick service experience I've endured in Troy Ohio. Our fries were old and hard, the chicken on our sandwiches dry and tasteless. I think this is the first time I have ever throw away food from a restaurant before. But hey, the cookie was good. And quick sidenote, they weren't enforcing the mask mandate.
