One of the best spots in Connecticut. The warmth that you feel as soon as you walk through the door is hard to put into words. Every time I walk through the door, I see a familiar face behind the counter, and I am always greeted with a warm hug. Highly recommend stopping in for lunch or dinner or taking in a show next-door at the Side Door Jazz Lounge. The Old Lyme Inn never disappoints. Highly recommend.

I made a reservation for Saturday night dinner at the OL Inn that was confirmed over the phone for 6:45. We arrived at 6:45 and the person who greeted us allowed that a table wouldn't be available until 7:15 or 7:30. I asked why did they bother with reservations if they couldn't honor them. She said they had to take care of the customers who were attending the jazz performance. Then she walked away. No apology, no suggestion we could possible get a drink at the bar. We felt like we were just dismissed. So we left. I'm all for supporting local businesses (we live a minute away from the Inn) but I expect at least an "I'm sorry but we don't have a table right." It was rude and disappointing to say the least.

It was a nice place, the staff was great. The food was great. The tea party was nice but for the price it wasn't too much food. One piece of each thing for each person.

We went for the Tea. I and most in my party left disappointed for multiple reasons. While the atmosphere looked promising. I felt corners were cut all around. Not enough sandwiches for people to sample per tray, and you could tell the bread sat out for a while. Like they were made ahead of time and left to sit. Treats kinda felt like leftovers from a Christmas party the day before. Also, if you sat near kids you wouldn’t have had sandwiches unless you took them from other people in the parties tray. If it was just a reduced price for kids fine but as a result they didn’t accommodate the adult with sandwiches. For $45 I’d say save your money, go for a brunch or a hearty lunch elsewhere.

I just left the jazz brunch at the Old Lyme Inn, and felt immediately compelled to write a review. I have never experienced a worst meal in my life. We waited over an hour for our food. The pancakes were completely cold and burnt and the one that actually seemed edible we were unable to cut into. Both omelets were cold and the feta cheese was still refrigerator cold and just laid in the fold of the omelet, not even cooked in. We had to ask for butter as apparently it’s not automatically served with pancakes and French toast - unsurprisingly, it was frozen. The fruit on the French toast was bad and mushy and the stems were still on the blueberries. The toast was rock hard and crunchy, and the potatoes were burnt and had an overpowering onion smell
And taste. The wait staff was slow and seemed oblivious to how unacceptable serving cold, burnt, and uncooked food is. When we explained it to them, they did offer to take some meals off the bill - which was nice, but I’d rather not have had the experience at all!

Really nice clean and comfortable boutique hotel.
The staff was helpful and friendly.
The Florence Griswold Museum ( a must see) is directly across the street. Just off the Connecticut Turnpike Exit 70.
No elevator for second floor rooms but not a problem for us.
Highly recommend.

We had a large group in the private dining room. Plenty of servers and lots of attention. We loved the blood orange ice tea. The food was hot and delicious. It’s in a beautiful setting with a pretty garden. Fresh flowers on the tables. The penne pasta with fresh mushrooms was my favorite.

This review is for the restaurant only. I recently had a negative experience and had to walk out before being served because the host/staff was taking far too long. My party of 4 was a few minutes early for a reservation, but a table opened up a few minutes later. Unfortunately, despite the restaurant emptying out and many tables opening up, it took 15+ min for the host to take us to a table, at which point we were ignored again (no server, no water). Based on the wait and the lackadaisical attitude of the host, we decided to leave; we were not confident that we'd get service any time soon.

My family has been eating here for ~3 years and usually it's great, so I'm hopeful I will update this soon with a more positive review.
