WOW! What an Amazing Experience! I cannot speak highly enough about this property, the staff, the location and especially Chef Matt. This place is truly a beauty and the Food is incredible!!!! I was literally blown away by the meals that were prepared for us while staying there! The Shrimp & Grits is a MUST try. The rooms are as stunning as the View! We will definitely be back as often as we can!

My husband and I spent our anniversary weekend here and it was incredible! We were greeted with the kindest staff and check in was seamless. The main part of the hotel was quiet and well kept. Our room was very spacious, clean and equipped with the essentials and more! Our mornings were spent snuggled up on our balcony watching the sun rise with a cup of coffee from our room.
We enjoyed a romantic dinner at the Rooftop bar where we enjoyed delicious food and drinks. They had a twist on their bread service where the asiago bread had a butter candle in it. My husband and I ordered two different steaks and they were cooked perfectly with the tastiest potatoes and Brussels sprouts (I can’t stop thinking about my dinner!).
We enjoyed their Rooftop brunch on Sunday morning where we had the steak and eggs hash and it was to die for!
We will definitely be back and can’t wait to explore the island more!

My wife and I decided to visit for a weekend getaway. The room was extremely clean and spacious with a kitchenette and everything we could have needed while way.
We decided to have dinner at the Rooftop bar. Such a great view of the water with live music setting up for a romantic night. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the ribeye and my wife had the fillet both highly recommend! Very generous potions that neither of us could finish which we brought back to our room for lunch the next day.
Sunday we decided to have brunch at the rooftop and were greeted with friendly staff and bottomless mimosas! Again the food was amazing and we look forward to coming back for another weekend getaway!

You have to go to the rooftop at Ocean Lodge. The new ownership has made a huge difference. Reed the bartender is awesome and makes fantastic drinks. Get the steak burger, it's great. Can't beat the views and they have several nights with live entertainment. Such a great place on the island!

The Ocean lodge resort is amazing. The rooms are spacious and have an old world feel. The view is stunning and it’s just a few steps from the beach. There are free bicycles to explore the town and free chairs to use on the beach. The food is creative and decadent. Such a wonderful experience.

Bottom line, up front...They gave our room away to someone else, and we had to find another place to stay on our own, 4 hours from home. ||I am hesitant to share poor reviews, and I give every opportunity for appropriate actions to be taken--9 months in this case. I booked a room at the Ocean Lodge Resort after a weeks-long search for a 26th wedding anniversary celebration with my wife. Several months in advance, I found this place. It would be surprise for my wife. Fast forward to April, we arrived at about 6pm and walked in. No one was at the desk. I called the number and although the outgoing message said they were with customer or on a call, that was not true. I was watching the phone ring in front of me. ||I also saw a book with inbound guests listed, where I was a bit surprised to see my name listed and lined though. After waiting for about 30 minutes time, After entering several times in hopes of finding someone working, I saw someone in the dining area. She checked the book and told me, "You've already checked in." Obviously, I had not. ||After several calls to someone--management, I suppose--she concluded that my room was given to another guest. They have a relationship with another hotel, but that hotel was full and not in a similar location and as what we booked anyway. The conclusion? We were on our own to find a place, go to anothet town, or go back home. And this was a spring break week, so the island was packed. ||The agent told us that if we found a place, the Ocean Lodge Resort would cover our stay for the week. She said to send receipts and they take care of it. I was incensed but had no control to change the situation, so I went to work and found some options to salvage our anniversary week. ||I found a place we could immediately check into and then found somewhere to stay for the rest of the week. I sent the information to my point of contact at Ocean Lodge, and she assured me that the info would be shared with management and we would be reimbursed for all of our problems. At the end of the week, I sent the receipts and waited. Then there was silence. No response to emails or phone calls. Later, I would discover that the original person assisting me was no longer with the Resort, and there was obviously no process for hand-off and follow-up. I eventually reached someone else who promised to assist, and she disappeared as well. Months later, I finally found the GM, Matt Schleis, and he said that he would research and resolve the issue. Several messages later and many months later, he apparently has decided to stop responding. ||How can you give away a reserved guest's room, effectively put them on the street to fend for themselves, promise to make it right, and basically do nothing? I don't know how common this is in the industry, but it is the first time I have seen anything like this personally. If I had been alone, this would still be unacceptable, but the fact that I was with my wife on our anniversary week, this added insult to injury and unnecessary stress on her. No accountability. This review is only step 1.

The entire process is too long to post, but in short: go somewhere else.
- “management” was nonexistent when trying to resolve issues
- charged more than advertised
- the assistant manager (name I won’t mention) was unprofessional, incompetent and rude
- phone calls never answered
- front desk area wreaked of weed, had music blaring from the back and had only waters available in their “convenience” refrigerator
- room was nice but there was a lighter out on the patio and what looked like a fly under the blankets on the sheets
If you want luxury, this is not your place. I know it’s hard to find good employers these days but they still charge like they do!

To be clear, my experience is with the roof top restaurant and the service I received on my last two visits.
Outstanding. The team is new (believed to be under new ownership or management) --- but my experience on both visits were great. The views are about the best for St Simons Island ... and the happy hour prices cannot be beat.
Regardless of any past experiences, lighten up --- and give them another try. Bartender is very willing to accommodate anything he has access to for making you the perfect cocktail. The appetizers are perfect and the burger is great. YOU cannot beat the prices, the view, and the service. What more can you expect. The world needs to just relax and stop being so critical and mean. Enjoy it, be glad you're on the island .... good grief enjoy it.
