We stayed here to be close to our child who lives close by. We had a queen bed room with an attached bath. The room was spacious and had a small seating area and desk. It was perfect for us. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the open courtyard was a bonus that we didn't expect.

I stayed at this hostel for a total of 6 or 7 nights across a 2-week period in March last year. I had a tremendous experience. The staff were all courteous and the hostel has everything a traveler could need, including storage in the basement for camping gear. As a warning, your car will get broken into if you leave items where they can be seen. This happened to me, but it wasn't the hostel's fault.

Overall, it's a great hostel with great service and community events to socialize. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and the staff was friendly. Wish that the bunks had curtains at least like most hostels do.

Unfortunately, it feels like they prioritize their cafe more than their guests, which put a damper on my visit. They promised free breakfast when I booked, which I was really looking forward to, but when I arrived, they had removed the free breakfast and replaced it with a $4 room discount and a $3 cafe discount, and it can't even go towards coffee--only a full meal. That doesn't feel like "free breakfast" to me when a breakfast and coffee is $16 at the cafe and I can't even get a free coffee.

They also get upset if you bring food or beverages into the common area that literally says on the wall, "NW Portland Hostel," even though *I* was paying to stay at the hostel. They make you eat everything in the secluded kitchen in the back. It was aggravating how strict they were and how they clearly prioritized their cafe scam ($20 for a burger and fries) over their patrons.

I have stayed here two times. Both in the private rooms and in shared rooms. The rooms are clean and modern with a cozy feeling. The hostel just has an amazing vibe that can't really be quantify into words and has to be experienced to be understood. The people at the hostel are just as welcoming and inviting as the staff. This is of course a hostel, with the risks that come with sharing a sleeping space with strangers. When I did have an issue of a roommate making loud noises during the night preventing me from sleeping, the staff were kind enough to find another dorm room for me to move to. I will absolutely be considering rerouting future trips to include Portland in order to stay at this hostel.

A great, very conveniently located hostel in the Nob Hill neighborhood, with easy access to nature at Washington Parkand restaurants on NW 21st and NW 23rd avenues. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Complimentary bagel and drink for breakfast is a nice touch, and the hostel cafe has great offerings. A very welcoming community in the commons, especially on trivia night, which was a highlight. Clean dorm room and common bathrooms. Only downside is that the dorm room run too hot at night.

My second time staying at the hostel. I was here for 2 nights to see a rock concert. I appreciate the location as it was close to a Trader Joe’s and a 15 minute walk to the Crystal Ballroom and Powell’s Bookstore.

The cafe had a happy hour special for all beers on tap, and had a good selection of food! I had the salmon burger and French toast. The staff was very helpful too, I accidently left my pair of AirPods in my room and one of your helpful staff members, Nikki brought me back up there to grab them.

Overall, when I come back to Portland someday I’ll remember to check into this hostel.

Been here twice now and I can’t recommend it enough. Cool property with lots of amenities.

My only complaint was that I stayed in one of the houses and our room was pretty cold (visited in the middle of winter). The bed was a springy old thing and the pillows were flat. Still slept through most of the night and wasn’t sore or anything the next day.

This was my first hostel stay. I was very hesitant initially, but the price and the reviews helped me decide.
As a solo female traveler, I felt super safe. Everyone was super nice and it’s located in a great place. I visited coffee shops, great food places, and just an enjoyable neighborhood overall. Additionally, I used the rail metro to and from the airport.
Super convenient and affordable. If I ever go back to the Portland area, I’m staying here.
