The cabins at Northshore Resort do NOT look like the pictures posted on the website. We had to use the pullout couch bed, and it was so dirty and full of disgusting mess! Lots of lamps with no bulbs. No hand soap in the bathrooms. Lots of missing kitchen items (where they claim to be fully furnished). No wifi/ no cell service (kind of a pain when you're trying to help your out of town family locate you). For the money... it was a big disappointment. Just don't rent it thinking it's as amazing as they claim... that's all. The lake, however, is beautiful.

Downright terrible customer service and rude. I would not recommend North Shores Resort and Marina (for Pontoon Boat Rental, anyway). Not sure where to begin with my grievance, but it is trivial and pales in comparison to the maltreatment that my family experienced. Issues that could have been easily handled were compounded into extraordinary proportions. Staff were indifferent, rude, and disrespectful. Spend your time and money elsewhere.

Missed EVERY expectation. We couldn't drive the boat so it remained tied to a fly-infested cove all weekend. We paid for 4 days and they rousted us at 7am to take the boat our last day. Propane tank didn't have a seal so it was useless. We were duped. It was like we paid 10x for a crappy cabin on a crappy cove. Staff was rude and completely unaccommodating. None of us will ever give this company money in any form again. North Shores SUCKS.

I chose North Shores for a place to take my family for a few days' boating and fun at the lake in early June. With very few commercial developments on Lake Ouachita, I chose this resort because it is a bit more affordable than Mountain Harbor, yet it looked a little nicer on the website than most of the other places. It turned out to be a mistake.|| From the minute you arrive, you get the feeling that the place is not really a "resort and marina", as they call themselves. It is really a marina with a couple of cabins for those occasional customers who don't have an RV or a camper. The view of the lake was marred by the fact that the parking lot and marina sit between the cabin and the lake. And the staff had a very matter-of-fact demeanor that was not very welcoming. There was no "Welcome to North Shores, we hope you enjoy your stay with us, here's your key, let me show you around, etc...". Instead we were asked to move our car because it might get in the way of people trying to back their boats up to the lake. Then, when I asked about the pontoon boat I had reserved 3 weeks earlier, I was nonchalantly informed that they had no pontoon boats available, because the guests the previous weekend had burned out the motors. By the surprised sound of their voices when I asked about my reservation, it was hard not to think that they really never even took my reservation. No apology, no attempt to make up for it, no indication that they felt bad for leaving me 400 miles from home on a boating vacation without a boat.|| On the positive side, they do have a pretty good marina and the cabins were nice. And they are located on a very scenic, quiet part of Lake Ouachita. I can see why the many day-trippers we saw seem to like it. || All in all, it's an OK place for what it is. But it is NOT a resort, and they should not pretend to be one.

The cabin, the amenities, the management, all could not have been better. The cabin was fully equipped, very, very clean, as well a modern with Direct TV and other comforts of home, including a dishwasher. The Kids especially enjoyed the exercise room and the open, uncrowded area around the cabin at the lake they could roam. The Marina could not have been more accomodating too our need for our boat as well. The earlier dated reviews do not do justice to this Resort. Plus, the North Shore portion of the lake is so much more peaceful than other portions of the lake with cabins.

We rented a pontoon on the beautiful lake and everyone at the North Shore Marina took great care of us. The boat was large had a decent out board motor and was refitted recently. Next time we might throw down collectively on a houseboat of which they had many and were certainly something to see.

Do not recommend. We loved it before but new management is now the problem. Dealing with the new owner has caused several boats to leave recently. There are better places to stay on Lake Ouachita.

The cabins are very nice. All are recently refurbished with full functioning kitchens. The campgrounds support both tent camping and RV sites. Both have clean bathrooms. Marina staff are friendly and helpful. Great for a quiet getaway. ||
