It’s ok. It’s a really old building and has the smell to prove it.

Noise was an issue for us. You can straight up hear the neighboring room use the bathroom or the shower.

Got some sort of burning sensation in our feet after using the shower; I suspect perhaps it was some cleaning agent they used which was particularly harsh. Not sure

Parking was $10/night

A lot of the rooms were seemingly boarded up or had missing windows or something. Was kinda bizarre to see.

Other than that, it’s fine. It’s cheap, and does have a certain old school charm to it. I think the lobby and restaurant are well decorated but beyond that it’s clear that the building is in need of renovation.

The location was good for what we wanted but we probably wouldn’t use this place again.

I’ve only been to the restaurant and bar, so I cannot comment on the hotel, however the bar has an excellent whiskey selection and the staff is friendly and efficient. If Ryan is working, he will make you feel like an old friend.

De Fuego is a great example odd a bazillion style steak house. The food is always excellent and the service is top notch.

If you are looking for upscale cocktails or a nice meal, it is hard to go wrong with either option.

We stayed at the Monarch Hotel one night for an awards banquet. Our first impression as we pulled up to the hotel was that the exterior looked a bit "tired", but the interior was very nice for an older hotel. All of the hotel staff were very helpful, bar was fun and convenient, food at the banquet was much better than typical for this type of event. Room was not fancy but everything was clean. Overall a very good choice for this type of event.

It was pretty bad. First, we asked that a pack & play be set up in our room for when we arrived. We called ahead to make sure that was happening. They said it was. When we arrived, It hadn't even been delivered much less set up. We had to leave not long after arriving, so we requested again that a pack & play be set up in our room. They delivered it, but never set it up, so when we got back our kid's bedtime routine had to be put on pause while we did that. But whatever, it’s happened before for us.

Second, and much, much worse, the toilet seat was loose and swinging around. When we asked that hotel maintenance come and fix it the next day, they did but also used our kid's toothbrush as a tool to clean up the toilet while we were gone. The toothbrush was covered in crud and the bristles were covered in gunk. We had used it that morning to brush our kids mouth, and it was fine. The hotel promised their manager would call us, and make it right. We never received a call, and all they did was knock down our rate 10$ a night, and comp us parking. It's a slap in the face for using our kids toothbrush to clean the toilet. They didn’t even bother taking it with them, they just left it there on this sink with the rest of our toiletries. Like we wouldn’t notice or something.

We had a shitty experience, and we'll be writing other reviews online to make it loud and clear that people shouldn't stay here."

My daughter booked a stay at this hotel and a plane ride from Tucson so we could spend Christmas together. On Christmas Eve I ate in the bar and brought my leftovers back to the room. When my daughter arrived. She ate the leftovers. We both got food poisoning for two days and could not leave the room we missed our spirit Cruise. We had planned for Christmas day with no refunds.||My daughter got sick before me and I saw the manager and the kitchen manager in the bar sitting at a computer and when I brought this to your attention through the bar manager, they didn’t seem to care. They took no responsibility for the fact that our whole Christmas was RUINED because of food poisoning from their kitchen||They didn’t even have the courtesy to come over and talk to me personally when I was only 20 feet away. They talked to the bar manager.||IT completely ruined our entire Christmas and I flew from Arizona to do this and waste a lot of money. ||Also, it’s advertised there’s a free shuttle service from the airport and there was not I had to spend $45 on an Uber to get there so basically I spent an awful lot of money just so I could be sick in their rooms!||I will never ever go there again. I will not recommend it ||on Christmas Day. I realize they’re shortstaffed, but there were bags of garbage in the hallways and nobody picked it up. There was also dirty dishes from room service in the hallways everywhere because nobody picked it up and I even brought it to the attention of the front desk, but nobody picked it up until the day after Christmas Gross!||I do not recommend this hotel and especially for their lack of responsibility

Staff was all very friendly. Good food at restaurant at a reasonable price and it was excellent. Room was comfortable. Love the free shuttle service to the airport in Portland and the pick up on the return trip was fast. We got to leave our vehicle there so small parking fee

We had an excellent and enjoyable 3 day stay. Beds are so comfortable and quiet. The restaurant attached to the hotel was a big plus. We had the best drinks & delicious food. I would recommend this hotel to any friends and family. The stay was affordable and safe with security precautions late at night.

We were there for a company Christmas party and decided to stay the night. The room was very large and very comfortable. We both slept quite well, considering we never get a goodnights sleep on the first night. My wife's only regret was didn't get a chance to take a bath, maybe next time. The food was also very good, prime rib at the Christmas party and breakfast the next morning, omelet and avocado on toast.
