Amazing deli! We were starving after a hike & MJ’s did not disappoint. We had the New Yorker, the Big Cali, the potato salad, & two pickles to go. Bummed they did not toast my sandwich while I asked for it hot, but they did toast my husband’s, & the cashier was also being trained so she may have just missed it. That slight disappointment went away very quickly though because the sandwich was soooooo good. Like, talking about if we could do the 45 min drive to MJ’s from our place just to come back again good, lol. We both also really liked the potato salad, tasted very “pickley” with tons of dill as well. If you’re not into pickles, the flavor may be a bit strong, but we loved it.
Small place, a couple tables outside & some barstools inside, but don’t overlook this place! It’s right next to some larger restaurants that may have more reviews, but this is definitely one to check out. Got lucky with parking for lunchtime on a Sunday, but definitely not tons of spaces for the amount of shops/ restaurants in this area. The usual downtown Ojai parking difficulties.

If you’re looking for the best sandwich in town, this is definitely where to go. They have really good gluten-free options as well and I overheard the mother helping the son so you know it’s a locally owned family business which we all love. The flavors of the sandwiches are absolutely sensational. You can create your own sando. Sensational!

Grabbed a sandwich here for an afternoon picnic at Libbey park. Was able to talk with MJ’s mom who shared her favorite spot in the park. Hefty sandwich with all the deli fixings, was able to share a sando between my wife and I.

Made a large order here (about 30 sandwiches) for a lunch event and the service and food was amazing! The sandwiches were prepared promptly and everything was well-organized and labeled - which is hugely appreciated when you're feeding a lot of people. Friendly staff, delicious and fresh food and great service!

Good sandwich shop with big selection or build your own, canned soda but not a great selection. Small and inside and outside seating. Parking might be a challenge on weekends.

This is a belated review (for April) but I really wanted to make sure I give this place a positive review. I ordered 40 sandwiches from MJ's for a TV crew. Thank you for making me look so good on the job! I thought my veggie sandwich was amazing and the crew told me that their meat sandwiches were tasty too. This business was incredibly patient and kind when I changed details on them multiple times and the owner Michael even called me personally to make sure the order was correct.

And get the cookies too! I know they seem expensive but they are delicious!

Sandwich was average. I didn’t appreciate the forced tip of $4.00 at the register into cashier’s pocket saying “we don’t do tipping but rather just ad it in to make it easier”. Is that even legal? Anyways, made me sick paying $21with the forced tip for a sub sandwich only. Lesson learned, when you pay cash here expect them to just add whatever tip they want instead of kindly asking for it and make sure to ask for a receipt to see how much they added on.
