💯 recommend! The food was amazing!
We did outdoor seating in the cold to avoid waiting but blankets and a fire are provided. Loved the experience and the meal. Potatoes were perfectly cooked (I did ask for extra crispy) stuff French toasts was great and my breakfast sandwich was amazing. The chai was really good. You can buy the homemade ketchup & hot sauce. There was a coffee to go station right outside. I’m sure this place is more packed in the warmer months but it’s beautiful and yummy.

Man oh man!!! What a spot! Absolutely amazing food. The baked goods were so delicious.

Our server was very jovial and kind. Equally attentive. He could remember all of our many orders all the while joking and chatting with us.

The servings are plentiful and the flavor of everything was perfect. All our drinks were also perfect.

Whether local or visiting. You MUST visit (more than once) McKay Cottage. Beyond the service, food and drinks. The history is especially interesting and the outdoor area is great too. Fire pits and free coffee while you wait to be seated.

Today is my birthday and it was off to a pretty rough start because I was spending it alone. I decided to come to McKay’s to treat myself to a birthday breakfast and so glad I did. The staff was so sweet and friendly. Haley was such a sweet and amazing server and she made me feel really seen and celebrated.
The food was also amazing, and was surprised to find out that the neighboring guests bought my breakfast. I would definitely come back and recommend others. Thank you for being so amazing on my special day. 🎂 💜

This place really deserves their high rating. It got recommended by the staff of our motel, we were happy to have followed their advice. Arriving at 7 am at opening time, we were the first to arrive, it already has a smelled good. The place looks really homey, like you're in someone's house. Food is great (huge portions, we couldn't finish it), but what really stood out was the staff. Fantastic! The pecan cinnamon roll is to die for.

A very cute and cozy restaurant, if you get to eat inside the old house. They have put a tent in the front yard to accommodate more people because they are very busy. We ate in the tent, and it was kind of chilly. The food is delicious and they have some unique dishes. We had the Baja Hash Stack, the Classic Benedict, Butternut Squash Grilled Cheese Sando, and a Pecan Cinnamon Roll. We immensely enjoyed all of it. We will definitely go back next time we are in town.

Really solid breakfast restaurant in a venue with historical significance in town, which makes it a good place to eat despite long wait times. Even on a weekday morning, you may need to wait 15-30 minutes to get a table, but they have a heated waiting area outside. They also have expanded seating including heated tents, though I believe it is a better experience to eat inside the cottage. It's nice to look around and see the little bookshelves, and the venue itself. Though it can be a bit dirty on busy days. Regardless, the menu they offer is creative with a lot of homemade ingredients. A lot of options that are savory, and a lot that are sweet. They serve breakfast until close and begin lunch at 11 AM. I would especially recommend the stuffed French toast, made with their large, fresh croissants. Service is nice and helpful.

We visited on a Saturday morning, and it was packed! We were offered the choice to use one of the firepit tables with blankets for a shorter wait, which we opted for. It was perfect! The service was quick and friendly; everyone working there had a genuine smile and was happy to help. Breakfast was delicious! I would absolutely recommend McKay Cottage to friends and family visiting Bend, and I will definitely be back!

We made it back for a 2nd visit and tried a couple of different dishes. (new pictures added)
- Breakfast burrito. Good, full of goodies, hearty.
- Classic Benedict. Good, but homemade hollandaise was "bland".
After our 2nd visit and trying additional menu items we've decided... It's good, but nothing to rave about.

Potential. We'll go back again, but first impression was only average.
- McKay Cottage Potatoes. The picture on the website shows a scramble with potatoes on the side, which is what would have been preferred. Our serving was all scrambled together (pictured), potatoes and all, which made it very potato heavy!
- Sunriver Chicken Salad Sandwich. Disappointing. Limited chicken salad filling and all I could taste was the curry.
- Tomato Basil Bisque. Really flavorful!
Although this first tasting experience was less than what we hoped for there were plenty of offerings on the menu that looked interesting and overall, we feel a second visit is warranted.
