We have been staying at Maumee Bay Lodge, on average, twice a year for almost 20 years. We like the location and the proximity to wildlife areas.
The rooms are being renovated, and the staff, as always, is friendly and courteous. Food prices, for the most part, are reasonable, and the quality is good.
Alcohol pricing is ridiculous, as is the price for a glass of milk - $6.00.
A bottle of Menage a' Trois wine, which sells for less that $20 in the store and $12 online from the winery goes for $45. A fifth of Proper Twelve Irish whiskey sells for around $40.00 retail, but two doubles will set you back almost half of that. Bring your own booze!

Upgrades at Maumee Bay looks great! We had so much to do without leaving the hotel. Every staff member we encountered was so kind and talked with my sons about board games they wanted and food choices. We stay at State Park Lodges a few times a year and always enjoy them, but this was the best stay we've had! Everything was clean and comfortable. Wonderful place for kids!

Our stay was overall very good. We saw lots of wildlife on our walks & hikes, even though it was cold and very early spring. We saw bald eagles, deer, racoons, egrets, rabbits, squirrels, and lots of variety of birds. The kids loved the pool and the playground, and playing in the sand on the beach.

This is a great get away! We have been here several times and it is always an enjoyable experience. The bar is great and so is the dining room . Also, if you want to go out, The Oregon Inn is a short drive away and has great food. And Dairy Depot is amazing for great ice cream.

We love maumee bay this is our third time visiting our first time was a 5/5. Second time was okay and this time 2/5.
This would be a great place for family and kids if there were more staff to enforce the rules. Not sure if you need to raise room prices or what the deal is. But, I noticed this time we did not need wristbands to swim. We paid for your room and did not stay for multiple reasons.
First and for most.
The pool. There were multiple kids there being unruly and unsupervised.
This is not safe for families with little kids as the unruly, unsupervised children were causing chaos in the pool.
I watched kids play foot ball and not be aware of there surroundings, jumping on little children making them cry, and jump on / knock into older gentleman and didn’t even apologize or acknowledge their behavior.

When there are kids jumping on other kids, hurting people in the pool and being unruly makes it uncomfortable and unsafe.

Why are no staff members there to ensure the safety of their patrons?
Why aren’t the companies rules and policies enforced?
Secondly, one of the rooms by ours had over the max amount of people in the room there were 10-15 people in 1 small double queen bed room. That is a safety / fire hazard!!!

PLEASE HIRE MORE STAFF TO ENFORCE RULES.

We ended up not staying and wasting over 200 dollars.
This could be a nice place for family and friends if they enforced room occupancy and had someone supervising the indoor pool area.

Raise your prices, hire more staff !! Do what you have to do.
But I shouldn’t have to leave because there are multiple teenagers/ kids being unruly in a pool jeopardizing the safety of paying customers!
My children weren’t harmed, but this is an observation I made of the other guest who were also very annoyed and confused.

Spent 3nights here over New Years 2024 and had a great time. Stayed in one of the suites at the end of the wing facing Lake Erie. We had a beautiful view and it was nice and quiet even with the festivities in the main building. Had a delicious breakfast at the restaurant. We also visited a nearby Bob Evans and good dinner restaurants in Toledo. Maumee Bay Lodge staff were very nice and helpful during our short stay. We will be back.

This is a great, affordable place to bring your family for a vacation. They have great amenities for little ones. I do think there are areas that could use some TLC and updating, but we enjoy our stays!

My room was off Lake earring. It was absolutely beautiful. The first night I was there. I thought I was experiencing fall and then I opened the door to my room and stepped out and it was lake effect smell. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen I will definitely be coming back
