We visited the area and decided to stay in this quaint hotel instead of the national chain. The room was cute with a gas/electric (not sure) fire place. We definitely used it but it took a minute to figure out how to. It would have been nice if the front desk had said you control it by the thermostat before we went to the room. One of the things I missed was that when you stay in a national chain they typically have makeup remover towels and that kind of thing in the room for you this had none of that. Basic shampoo conditioner and body wash are provided one of each. Keurig with three of the K-Cup coffees. Small refrigerator small microwave. Bathroom and vanity area are very small. I can see where in the summer you might be of appeal because of the courtyard and outdoor space. The staff is extremely friendly. From our room we could hear the washing machine or something early in the morning through the wall.

Great room. Has a large grassy area for our pup right outside our room - which had a back door to this area. Two elk walked right past our room 😊. Room was very clean and beds were comfortable. Very reasonably priced. Definitely will stay each time we go through Payson.

Booked a fireplace Queen room on a cold night in January because of high winds in the mountain on our drive from Phoenix to Texas. It was exactly what we needed. A quiet getaway in nature with amazing ambiance from the in-room fireplace. So cool!
From the young adults working the night desk to the super friendly lady working the lobby the next morning, this Inn is nothing like the chain hotels. I usually use my chain hotel points but I’m beyond grateful we gave this Inn a chance.
The breakfast in the morning was warm, filling and simple: proteins, carbs, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Even whipped cream for the waffles. The other guests were quiet and respectful in the dining room.
Our only issue was there are two doors per room and the room key doesn’t work on the back door. It only works on the front door. We dead bolted the front door and walked out the back for breakfast. We got locked out of our room in the cold, but nothing the friendly staff couldn’t help us with. The room carpets could use a deep clean but we’d love to return with more family to experience this majestic mountain again!

We stayed one night in a really homey luxury room. Very large and quiet (didn't hear any neighboring guests). Breakfast was good (bacon, sausage, eggs, waffles, cereal, bread items, etc). We would stay again!

Super cute! Wanted to give up five stars but there was mold all over the bathroom. The bathroom also had some very obvious patch jobs including some drywall putty that they never painted over.

Room was nice and big and clean.

Front desk was helpful and friendly.

There was a back door that opened up to a grassy backyard area and had a grill and some utensils so we were able to grill up some dinner.

I guess there's a pool area but I didn't see it. It was cold and rainy out.

I would stay here again. Hopefully they can upgrade the bathrooms a bit.

Unfortunately, I had planned this adventure a few weeks out prior to, for an evening of relaxation on Valentines day. It started out as an exciting trip out from Phoenix to the Mountains in the expectation that we would have a room with a Jacuzzi tub. We arrived, check - in, drove to the room, opened the door and was shocked that we would not get to relax to wine and movies in a hot tub. I then went back to the office, asked "what happened", got a response "well that is what we have reserved for you" , the reservation was "hi-jacked from a booking service". Again, I was shocked after review, as this reservation through Booking.Com charged me $309 USD for an expected room of $189. USD nightly. Apparently, it is not an option from the Majestic Mountain website to select and pay for a room without a redirect to a booking agent.

Then, more adventures, 45 minutes back and forth with the office to trouble shoot why the gas fireplace was not turning on. The front end guy visited the room, stated he would call the maintenance guy, and would be back in 5 minutes with an update. Magically, "34" minutes later, the gas fireplace lights on its own.

We love dogs, the next door tenant had arrived just shortly before us, they were outside the door with their dog receiving front desk support attempting to open that room door (broken). Their dog was not restrained, and it lunged at my wife, but friendly it was, right.

Summary:
1) Don't let customers get cat-fished and bait switched by a high-jacked site from an external agent.
2) Ask customers to assure dogs are leashed
3) Although the instructions were clearly posted on the inside room wall, be sure the equipment listed as available does work.

Feels more like an old motel 6 and not really worth the price in comparison. The place was full of traveling utility worker men who were loud and took up much of the parking, which made the stay as women uncomfortable. The bed was decent but the heater was messed up and only worked fully ON which roasted us out. The temperature control did not work so we had to choose between HOT sleep or freezing with no heat, or wake up every hour to turn it on and off manually. The hair dryer or outlet also did not work. This place needs some updates/maintenance for the extra cost they charge. The breakfast was good. The staff (other than front desk agent) was friendly. I wouldn’t stay again unless it was priced comparably with the similar quality motels. We thought by paying more the comfort would be better but it wasn’t so it was a disappointment.
