The service is great but the food is wayyyyyy too overpriced and you will be hungry again in an hour with the small portions. There is another Jamaican place near slappy that’s cheaper, larger portions, and better and taste. Choose that one.

Just an overpriced placed that sells fake Jamaican food. The rice was disgusting the oxtail was hard and they only give you like 3 small pieces and charge you $30, was nasty asf never again I had to give them my food to throw in the trash. Only reason I think this restaurant is still open, it’s probably because no other good Jamaica restaurants are around, would’ve never been open if it was down south

Kind of a hard time rating this place. It’s not quite a 4 but not a 3 either. Everyone was very friendly here, staff and other customers. The jerk chicken had a nice smoked flavor and the jerk rub and a sauce tasted great. But the chicken was slightly over done and a little dry. The beans and rice also had great flavor but it was a little crunchy, so not quite done or not made with enough water. The cabbage, was good just how I like it, not mushy with a little crispness left. Though it could have used some heat, maybe some crushed red pepper or something. Now that I think about it, the jerk spice could be a bit hotter as well. The plantains let me down. They too were over cooked and dry. It was $13 for lunch. I will for sure be back as the flavor made up for the cooking.

I’ve had some really good food from here in the past and even with my recent visit 🄰. There’s always different ppl working so, never the same faces. Today, the woman preparing my plate asked if I wanted double vegetables, if I wanted double meat or rice. šŸ™„ I said no thank u to all of her suggestions or whatever. As she was preparing my food, Another comes to the register and motions me to come pay. I was looking at my food being placed in the platter but, she kept motioning me over to the register-I wasn’t able to see all that was placed on my plate 🤨. I go to the register to pay and at the register, the cashier is asking me if I want to add more drinks, cakes, and other things. It’s like I was going back and forth telling both of them ā€œno.ā€ I don’t want to be hassled when I’m buying food, 😌 please just ask once-not 7-8 times if ur customer wants anything else. It makes me not want to have contact with them (curbside šŸ˜‚ or go elsewhere). Who wants to be nagged about buying more items? āœ‹ I’m already buying a $20 plate.

Speaking of this $20 oxtail meal, some of the oxtails were so small-the size of a nickel or dime not a quarter bc that’s to big. This plate wasn’t worth $20, especially with all of these small pieces of oxtails šŸ™„. The cornbread is so small it doesn’t fit in the area on the plate 😤. Overall, it was an ok meal. I didn’t taste a lot of flavor on the oxtails either. Assuming it was just ā€œone of those days.ā€ I’ll visit again and would recommend. I didn’t want to give 3 stars, I would rate 3.5 not 4. Since they isn’t a half option, I put 4 not 3.

Overpriced and underserved! I can't begin to talk about what a ripoff this place is. The food is setup buffet style and sitting there all day. The amount of meat given is very minimal especially for the astronomical prices. Be VERY careful because there are MANY upcharges that aren't disclosed. You discover that your total is much higher than what appears on the board because there's a fee for EVERYTHING. I'm guessing if you get the food fresh, perhaps it tastes better. However, it's mediocre at best. The rice was super dry and had several pieces that were either undercooked or sitting there so long they dried out. The owner is rude, treats the employees as if they're incompetent, and watches over them as if he doesn't trust them. He's literally watching how much is being scooped and telling them to take some out. Because there aren't many options in Albany for Jamaican food, I think he feels he has the market on lock. But believe me, I've had way better in other places and I'd highly suggest trying some where else. You'd be better getting you some pre-made marinades and making it yourself. It'll definitely be less expensive! I will NEVER go back and give a dime to this restaurant for the mere fact he's over charging and trying to get over... but you reap what you sow! The food is not that good and definitely NOT worth the high prices!

Cabbage was good but the curry chicken didn’t have much seasoning. Food looked old on the food stand. Lemonade didn’t have any flavor and it wasn’t squeezed lemonade.
