Let me start by saying I had no idea of the negative reviews about "roaches" when I booked my room. The day of check in I decided to check Google reviews and was shocked at all the reviews claiming they had roaches in their rooms. I booked through Expedia and none of the reviews mentioned roaches. I was upset I didn't check Google. I wanted to cancel my reservation but knew I couldn't.
With that being said, here's my honest review.
Upon arrival The hotel looked nice, clean on the outside, well maintained lobby and super friendly staff working the desk. Even the maintenance guy was friendly and helpful. We arrived too early for check in but the front desk host said we can check in early, she said "the room should be ready in 45 minutes" if we want to return then. Great! But what do we do for the next 45 minutes? we have two kids. The maintenance guy heard us and recommended a local park. He went out of his way to help us. He didn't have to. He could've just kept doing what he was doing but he didn't.
We booked the one bedroom suite, when we checked in we went through the whole room with a fine toothed comb. Checked the whole mattress, under the bed, pulled out the sofa, checked that mattress, all the chairs, the curtains, the closet, the bathroom, behind the fridge, under the microwave, under the sink etc. we. Checked. Everything! And we found nothing, not a single bug, roach, ant. Nothing. The room was relatively clean. The curtains should be replaced, the ones in the bedroom are torn a little. The carpet should also be replaced because it's old and dated. The bed was actually comfortable and the pillows were surprisingly comfortable. The pull out sofa on the other hand was VERY uncomfortable according to my son. There is no restaurant here but they do have snacks and drinks at the front desk and they do not take cash. We went to the pool and it was nice. The pool is indoors and heated so you can enjoy it all year round. The spa was nice as well, could've been cleaned a little better but maybe that was because the large group of teens who were in the pool right before we got in. No real complaints about the pool/spa just maybe clean a little better but my daughter loved it.
The hotel location is honestly pretty terrible but I'm not gonna fault the hotel for that, it's just the location, they can't change that. There is a Denny's and a Starbucks like 50 yards from the front entrance. There are also some other food spots within walking distance. There's lots of free parking too.
The complimentary breakfast was good, a little lackluster but good. Scrambled eggs, bacon, waffle maker, juices, coffee, milk, breads, cereal and bananas. It may sound like I listed a lot but it's really not. The food was hot, the bacon was really thin but crispy. Nothing fancy but it saved us a few bucks from buying breakfast somewhere else. The coffee though was bad. Stick with juice or milk unless you don't care and just need the caffeine.
I would stay here again if there was some kind of discounted stay for the room we had, I feel the price was a little high, maybe we paid just a little too much or Maybe I'm just cheap.
Bottom line, if you need a comfortable bed or a clean, quiet room with a complimentary breakfast and a pool to relax in, then it's worth it.
