Staff was very friendly but there was no one on site which wasn't a big deal. Room was spaciou perfect for our family. Beds were comfy. Lots of towels. My only complaint would be the cleanliness of the room. There was old food in the fridge, finger prints (looked like food) on the bathroom door and on the wall in the hallway. Bathtub looked like it had been cleaned, but not well. The outside of the building was covered in dead bugs and cobwebs, I assume because it was the end of the season and they probably power wash once a year.

Room was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Spacious room. Love the deck overlooking the Lake. The property is in need of a few updates, especially in the pool area, which Im optimistic will happen in the future. The price is reasonable considering you are on Kelley's Island. I would definitely stay again.

We have been staying each summer at the Venture Resort for years! About two years ago, it was sold to another owner and since then, it has not been the same. Although the rooms were still nice and clean this year, the pool was not! The pool needs to be maintained better. In addition, there were so many cobwebs around the pool chairs, tables, and on our balcony. Needs some major power washing. We want this place to keep its charm- it's always been so beautiful. But it needs more attention.

This was our first time on the Island. We really enjoyed our time here. The Island is well kept and clean.
We stayed at the Venture Resort. The staff is very kind and accommodating. The Resort grounds were pretty and shrubbery was manicured. The resort was peaceful and we felt safe. Outdoor , the buildings were in need of a powerwash and the pool furniture was in rough shape. Indoors, we liked the size of our room but it reeked of cigarettes, carpet could use a clean and the mattress, box spring and linens could use an update. Many friends recommend this resort to us so we may have just got a rough room. We will definitely return to the Resort as the location is fantastic! Just some interior and exterior updates would make a huge difference. With that being said the good outweigh the disappointments. We enjoyed our time very much!

As far as the rooms go they're not bad clean except a few cob webs in the corner of the living room. As far as the hot tub goes the filters were so full that the pump couldn't suck anything else out of the hot tub so it was nasty. Only one of the message ports in the hot tub had any pressure to it and the water was barely warm. The pool itself is way to small for as many rooms that this hotel has.

We had a reservation but couldn’t get into our room because the guests prior to us were swimming in the pool and wouldn’t check out. Check out time is 11 a.m.- check-in time is 4:00 p.m.- why did the staff allow this? We had to come back 3 times to the hotel before our room was ready!!! Legally, the prior guests were trespassing but no one did anything about it, knowing the room had another reservation! The hotel should have called the police but didn’t.
Once we got into the room- the lamps were out- I had to go back and ask for lightbulbs and had to change them myself and then go back to the desk to tell them it was an electrical issue. They did nothing. Then, the TVs in the room didn’t work, so back to the front desk and we were told once we were in the room the staff couldn’t enter the room, so she made some suggestions for us to try to fix them! When we asked for compensation- the manager wouldn’t meet with us but told her staff, they wouldn’t do anything for us! Went to sit in the chairs by the lake- filthy dirty! We had to clean them ourselves! We are very disappointed and will not return here next year.

My wife and I were very disappointed on our recent vacation to Kelley's Island Venture "Resort". The location and potential are amazing and the front desk staff were nice and helpful, but many areas fell short based on what we were expecting from the website pictures, description, and resort level pricing. The pool was dirty and not vacuumed during our 3 day visit. Poolside furniture was old and worn and loungers were especially filthy. The grounds were not well maintained and flower beds were overgrown with weeds. None of the flower pots had flowers. Room and bathroom were clean but very worn and dated. The couple staying in the next room told us how surprised they were in the decline of quality since their last visit.

The only reason this place gets 1 star is for Lauren and Israel. They were the only 2 working and all they have time for is to man the front desk (which you have to call a phone number when you enter the "lobby") and clean the rooms - thankfully.
The pool was filthy. You can tell it hasn't been taken care of all season. The landscaping is full of weeds and the exterior of the building is loaded with cobwebs and other non-distinct critters.
The place is owned by the Zimmermans who also own property in Put-in-bay. I would stay clear of any of them!! They obviously don't know the hospitality business. They don't care about repeat customers or decent reviews.
A resort it is not! It's a motel. A crappy, way too expensive, motel. I couldn't wait to get out of there.
