Our recent stay at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Holbrook left us underwhelmed. While the location was convenient for exploring the Petrified Forest National Park, the hotel itself felt dated and in need of some serious updates.

The rooms were clean but showed their age. The furniture was worn, and the decor felt stuck in the past. The biggest letdown was the breakfast. While advertised as "continental," the options were extremely limited. Besides waffles, there were no hot items available at all. Just some packaged pastries, cereal, and fruit.

On the positive side, the staff was friendly and the beds were comfortable enough for a decent night's sleep. However, the overall experience was disappointing, especially considering the price.

The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable. Everything looked new and it was very clean. My wife and I stayed for 1 night only as we had much to do. We did not have the breakfast, nor did we sample the pool. If we are ever in this area ,we will book it again, because of the comfort, cleanliness, and everything being new.

We stayed one night and it was everything we needed!
While others may review this location as "dated" we found it extremely charming and well thought out.
The bed was extremely comfortable, shower pressure was amazing and for the price we couldn't have asked for anything better!!

I never write reviews but we truly were very happy with our stay and I wanted to say so!

Friendly service with a very comfortable room close to Petrified Forest. Hot tub and pool (heated to a great temperature) were very welcome. Good value, would definitely stay here again.

Hotel is 3/4 empty. We asked for a room downstairs because we are both in knee braces. Was told "We have nothing available downstairs." As we drove around to our room, all the rooms were dark and empty. They put us upstairs between a guy who was smoking on the landing (at a "non-smoking facility), and a group drinking and playing cards. Again: the hotel is 3/4 empty. But all four parties who checked in are in upstairs rooms right next to each other. We've been driving for 9 hours. All we wanted was a good night's sleep and to not aggravate our knees with stairs. We won't be coming back here.

I spent 9 night here. Nice and quiet. I-40 is behind, but never noticed freeway noise. Nice spacious room. Look forward to another visit. Every restaurant we ate in was very good in town.

My family stayed for one night while visiting the petrified forest. The kids loved the heated pool...youngest said it was his favorite part of the trip...haha. But it was a nice feature after long day of hiking. Room was spacious for our needs, we didn't feel cramped at all. My wife said the bed was a bit hard for her but other than that it was good. Continental breakfast was minimal, waffles, cereal and bread for toast. Some fruit options and other "normal" offerings for continental breakfast would have been nice. Only reason 4 stars is because of that and the stiff beds, other than that, we were happy to stay here.
