We stopped at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Trussville after a full day of driving in the rain from Lake Charles, LA. We've stayed at a number of Holiday Inns during our vacation, and have been generally happy with them. This one was no different.||Parking lot was fine, with a good area to park while checking in. Well lit and maintained. Lobby was functional, basic. Staff was friendly and greeted us on checking in and telling where to catch the elevator.||The first room we got on the 3rd floor was about 90 degrees inside. Everything looked fine, but the AC unit was broken and only pumping out hot air. A visit to the Front Desk and they moved us next door. Much, much better. Nice and cool -- and also clean.||The hotel is organized around a central open atrium. Usually this leads to a lot of noise, but for our visit everything was nice and quiet even though there were a number of dogs with guests.||The King bed was comfortable, as was the couch in the room. Refrigerator worked fine and the ice machine just down the hall past the Presidential Suite. TV was great, remote worked fine. Decor was OK - pretty generic. Bathroom was with a tub/shower. OK. Basic and clean. Plenty of hot water and the toilet worked well.||Breakfast was great. Everything you could want, plenty of seating, and decent coffee. ||So overall a good stay, though the price was one of the highest on our vacation.

Let me start by saying the hotel staff is amazing. They were all so kind and helpful. The breakfast was decent as well.

The room was not great. It was dirty upon check in. There were crumbs in the carpet, everything was covered in dust. The furniture, walls and fixtures all covered in dust. The dust gave us scratchy throats the whole stay. There were a few lizards about the walls (comical and cute) but didn’t love them. lol
The sheets were stained and had hair on them. The bathroom molding had rust and body hair on them as well. The room was “cleaned” when we left out for the day, but it seemed as if they just made the bed. The carpet was still gross after cleaning.
Overall, we had a place to sleep for the weekend, but I can’t say we would ever stay there again.

Stayed 1 night, the desk clerk, Kristen, was friendly and helpful, room was very clean and comfortable, soft bed nice clean sheets, had a good nights sleep. Breakfast had a good variety to choose from with sausage, eggs, gravy, biscuits along with pancakes, cereal, pastries, juices, coffees. A little more than other hotels but we will stay here again. We were near the interstate and had some noise until around 9. Parking lot was a little small, lots of cars. We stayed again 6/18-6/19 2024 and stayed in room 102. Everything was fine except whoever stayed before us had a cat in the room. I have a very strong allergy to cats and could tell by my symptoms.

Room was nice and big, breakfast was good, nice quiet area. However, the main reason we stopped at this hotel was because they had a pool for our kids. We were disappointed when we went to the pool only to see a sign saying the pool was closed. When we asked why, we were told it was a pump failure. This information would have been nice to know before hand.

Room was dirty and uncomfortable. There was hairs on the toilet paper, bathroom walls, and some substance all over the side of the night stand. The paint is peeling off the walls. The beds are hard as a rock and pillows are flat. Overall one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.

Drove up from Panama city. Had business in gadsden and Bessemer so this was ideally positioned. Staff were polite and welcoming. Room was clean and bed was really comfortable. Good variety at breakfast. I had a relaxing stay which you would pay a lot more for at certain chain hotels.

The breakfast must have been prepared by someone who knows nothing about cooking! Biscuits too brown on the outside and undone dough on the inside, grits that were put in hot water and not cooked, and luke warm coffee. Turned my stomach.
