The cabin was wonderful. Everything was as listed in the description. The cabin is convenient to the area trails. The beds were very comfortable. The surroundings were peaceful and wooded. It was relaxing sitting on the porch watching a variety of birds come to the feeders. We enjoyed the fire pit and the hot tub after long days hiking. The fireplace was cozy on cool spring mornings. The porch provided a protective place to sit and watch the rain. We hoped to catch fish but there weren't any fish in the pond in early May. Our family agreed we would stay here again.

I booked this cabin for a getaway for my & my husband's 30th anniversary. I had looked at several websites and found the Hickory Grove Retreat cabin to be one of the nicer ones at a very reasonable price. Also important to me was someplace that had a telephone where I could be reached in case of an emergency, knowing that cell phone service can be very sketchy at best in that area. We have Verizon and was able to have pretty good service, but it gave me a peace of mind knowing that the 'landline' was there if needed.|| It was early evening when we arrived, and there were welcoming lights on, along with a basket of snacks and a variety of pop in the fridge. It was also chilly & rainy out, and the cabin was toasty warm! We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the cabin. It was even larger than it looked in the pictures & video. I was amazed at the size of the bathroom! You could tell that they are doing updates throughout the cabin. I'm sure it will be even better when they're completed! The granite countertops were a nice touch in the kitchen area. ||We parked right outside the cabin. It was nice not to have to lug out things very far. The roadway is visable from the hot tub, on the front porch, but we didn't have any issues with road noise. The cabin sits far enough away from the road (as you can see in the pictures and video on their website) but still easy access, unlike a lot of other properties. If you're looking for remote, utter seclusion & privacy, this might not be the cabin for you.||We spent a day hiking around Hocking Hills and the hot tub felt WONDERFUL at the end of the day! There also is a massage chair that could put you to sleep in just a few minutes. What a bonus!!!||We would definitely consider spending time at the Retreat cabin again!!!

Six of us (4 adults, 2 children) stayed here for Thanksgiving 2011. The cabin is set back from the main road up a gravel drive on a hillside overlooking a small pond. It was nicely furnished and clean. The location was great for exploring the Hocking Hills region and it was especially close to Cantwell Cliffs and Rock House. The only shortcoming was that the kitchen seating was a little cramped for 6 and the pots and pans were pretty banged up. We were preparing a Thanksgiving meal though and definitely pushed it to its limits. Had we been there in the summer we would have taken advantage of the grill and the outdoor seating on the deck. The hot tub was clean and well maintained and the gas fireplace warmed the cabin quickly. The owners were easy to deal with. I would book this cabin again.

Wonderful getaway for my wife and I before I deployed again! The cabin was everything we expected and more. Very clean, neat, and instructions were helpful. Watch the video online if you want to. All the ammenities shown are all there, but when you walk in, you are VERY impressed...above and beyond the video. Don't let cold temps keep you away, we stayed in mid December... the hot tub is right there under the front porch (Might as well be considered a full covered deck) and felt incredible. The gas fireplace is AMAZING! Not your standard 3 inch flame, this thing looks and feels like a well built wood fire. Better yet, you get out of bed in the morning and hit a button...whoom, good fire! All of the remote controls are clearly marked for the electronic devices, with a "cheat sheet" on how to work them. Bringing your own drinking water is advised if you're not used to well water. If you are approaching from the North, don't slam on the brakes at the first sign, there are two entrances available to the cabin. || As for the negative shot above, I'm sorry you mistook "Hickory Grove" for "Hilton". Spend a "summer getaway" in Balad, Iraq and maybe you will figure out that a night without mortars or rockets is a pretty sweet place to stay! Thank you Hickory Grove, and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

First arriving the cabin is about 15 min from a store (gas station or kroger). Really quite location the driveway is gravel and there isnt really a spot to park a motorcycle. The wrap around deck is really nice with good lighting at night. The inside of the cabin was nice and clean with the essentials. The cable doesn't come in on ABC or local channels, heads up if there's a game on you won't get it. Hot tub was really nice as well. The walkway to the fire ring is dark and there are drop offs on either side. There are solar lights that only last a couple hours after dark then go off. The fountain becomes annoying after a little while because it is just like a large hose dumping water out. Overall I would definitely come stay again! Also if follow 678 south for about 3 miles you can buy a decent amount of fire wood for a good price.

The property itself was absolutely stunning but beyond that you could tell that the property was cared about and cared for. It was very obvious that this was a place many families have chosen for a getaway time and time again and believe me, there is reason for that. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a family getaway or as my S/O and I did, an anniversary trip. Plenty of things to do and not too far from any hocking hills attractions. The owner was also very friendly and even sent a kind email afterwards appreciating that we had a great experience. Overall 10/10 !

Overall very happy staying here. Used VRBO to book the reservation. Google maps was a little off and I passed the big sign for the cabin before Google said I arrived. Very peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. Plenty of cookware and glasses. They have marshmallow and hot dog sticks. They have board games and cards. Not wheel chair friendly. I should have brought liter fluid and kinddling to make starting the camp fire much easier. The rooms were good size. The beds were soft. Very clean. The hot water in the kitchen sink is very hot so be careful. My wife thinks the shower had hard water and made it harder to do her hair. Plenty of room for the family to watch a family movie and gather round the natural has fire place. They also have a small charcoal grill which we didn't use we cooked on the camp fire by the pond. The cabin is kind of in a small valley and you do not see or hear anyone else.

Cabin was nice and well maintained, however the pond was too filthy to fish in. It wasn’t well maintained and had so much moss and weeds to fish hardly at all. Disappointing as we rented the location as a fishing getaway. The hot tub had an extreme amount of chemicals in it. The chlorine smell was was wildly strong and took your breathe away. We only got in it one time for fifteen mins only and got out because of the potent chemical smell and excessive chlorine foam. Although we were in it once for a few mins only the owner sent me an email after checkout saying we soiled the hot tub, although we did shower before getting in it as she obsessively explained in the rental agreement. She stated we were lucky she didn’t charge us a cleaning fee which I find absurd. The owner was also very rude upon checkout. Upon checkout, we went to great lengths to clean up after ourselves which caused us to be loading up the car to leave at 11:08am and the owner pulled up the drive and complained that we were holding her up from cleaning and needed to go. We stayed four nights, and on the last night my brother came up and ended up staying in the extra bedroom. Because the owner rudely came up the drive upon our checkout and seen that we had an extra guest above what I’d told her she then took it upon herself to charge my cc for an additional guest for all four nights without asking or checking with me first. Again, the cabin was nice, the owner was very rude and unprofessional to a paying guest. Won’t be staying here in the future.
