My husband and I have stayed at the Happy Rock Inn twice now – we loved it so much, we came and stayed longer the following weekend. Jim and Michelle are the most gracious & welcoming hosts - they make you feel right at home. We really enjoyed all of the thoughtful details of their place like the beautiful chalk art on our door with our names, delicious little guitar chocolates next to the bed, and our room opened up to their incredible backyard – perfect for our little dog, who also felt right at home! Also – food is fantastic!! We enjoyed a fabulous steak dinner on our first night, prepared by Happy Rock, and delicious hearty breakfasts each morning – you will not go hungry! During our second stay we enjoyed their awesome backyard with a bonfire, some neighborhood friends, and great live music! Jim is a very talented musician, and my husband enjoyed playing guitar with him. We really connected with Jim & Michelle—felt like old friends, and they were so sweet to our little dog. We had a great time and already looking to plan another stay very soon!

I just can't give enough compliments to The Happy Rock Inn. The house (and especially the backyard) was amazing. The checklist of things you'd look for in a B&B were top-notch, down to the plate of chocolate guitars left bedside and the huge, delicious breakfast. But what truly makes a stay here special --and unique-- is the staff. The hospitality was off the charts. The first night we arrived, we enjoyed the incredible backyard with a huge bonfire, local friends and live music. My husband and I are considering a move to the area and everyone was so helpful in sharing advice and making recommendations of where to go. We never would have seen the Portland suburbs like we did without their local expertise. Honestly, it was hard to tell who was staff and who were guests, as everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We had a blast!|||| I also have to give huge props to Michelle, who is an incredible proprietor and hostess. She's such a genuine, down-to-earth person I quickly connected with her, and we always asked her to sit with us (and stop working!) because we so enjoyed her company. Despite only a two night stay, somehow we felt like old friends, in town for a visit. The vibe is just so different than a typically stuffy and quiet B&B. At checkout, we were truly sad to say goodbye!

We stayed here on a Monday and it was amazing. We had a low key night of dinner and drinks. The place is gorgeous, the hosts were so gracious and charming and the atmosphere was simply delightful. The room decor was gorgeous. And the outdoor
balcony had stunning views of the beautiful town. We can't wait to come back. Thanks so much Jim and Michele for your wonderful hospitality.

Our stay was fun and relaxing. Jim and Michelle were wonderful hosts. We had the fish and ribs for dinner and both were excellent. We had breakfast outside in their garden and had a tasty and filling breakfast of Dutch baby, sausage and bacon. There were many nice touches like a welcoming sign on our door with our names. We hope to return soon and maybe hear some music next time.

While visiting family in Portland we had the great fortune of finding the Happy Rock Inn.

Our most gracious hosts, Jim and Michele, made our stay welcoming. We stayed in the master suite and thoroughly enjoyed it. The grounds are beautiful. The breakfasts were delicious.

We travel. A lot. But something different happened at Happy Rock Inn. We completely forgot we were staying at an Inn. We arrived as guests and left as friends. Read the website and you’ll have a good feel for what to expect.

We truly look forward to our next opportunity to stay here.

Absolutely the best B&B we have ever stayed at. Our room was luxurious, extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated. We loved walking, relaxing, or reading in the garden and visiting with the resident Ducks, Cheese and Quakers.
Michelle and Jim are wonderful hosts and could not have done anything more to improve our stay. We came to visit our family who live near by and Michelle and Jim felt like they were very old friends. Now, we know where we will stay whenever we return to visit our Oregon family and our new friends Jim and Michelle.
We can't thank you enough for making our visit even better than we ever imagined. We could give them 10 stars if possible.

This place is a refreshing answer to the near-silence, snobbish decor, one-size fits nobody food and general isolation offered by most standard bed and breakfast places. This is also my new favorite place to stay in Portland, by a long shot. From the fun, fabulous and very comfortable decor that includes fluffy furs, leather sofas and dreamily soft beds to the sweet classic rock n' roll playing at a comfortable volume in the common spaces, this place is so much more than a simple place to sleep! Every room is lovingly decorated with comfortable furniture, rock n' roll artwork and portraits of musical legends, many of which are signed! Jim and Michele are consummate hosts, offering everything from a glass of wine or beer to breakfast made especially to suit your preferences, even guided tours of local breweries! They have awesome restaurant suggestions to fit any palate or bugget and, if you're lucky, you might even get to hear Jim sing and play his guitar. He has a fantastic voice! Unlike most places, the atmosphere is social and meals feel more like a dinner party. Michele was nice enough to stay up talking with me one night to ease some anxiety (I was taking medical boards exam the following morning) and Jim made me a box-lunch to order! This is a very special place, i can't wait to come back. For anyone who's parents grew up in the 60's and 70's, especially if you listened to rock growing up, this place will make you feel like you're home.

Came here for a birthday party we were invited to. The house was really nice and clean. Very cool decor in every room. It was pretty muddy out so the backyard was off limits. We stayed up till 5am having great conversation. Didn't even realize it was so late. The bed was very comfortable even though I only used it for like 3 hours. We were offered breakfast on our way out. We politely declined as we were in a rush to get home. Both the host and hostess were extremely polite and friendly. Even made up some extra beds for a few unexpected overnight guest. I would definitely book here for my own stay in the future. It was very homey and felt like staying the night at a friend's house.
