This was, without a doubt, the worst Hampton we have stayed in. The building itself is nice. It is just poorly managed.

The breakfast was good, the food seemed fresh. There was an issue when the drink dispenser was frozen up for a couple of days and there was no juice for those 2 days.

The housekeeping was the thing that brought the rating on this place down. On the day we checked in, the floor on the 4th floor hallway looked like it hadn't been vacuumed for a week. The room we were given, had food and dirt all over the floor. The refrigerator had something wrapped in paper, still in there. All of the horizontal surfaces looked like they were wiped with a greasy rag. The trash can by the elevator would sit full for a couple of days, with food boxes in it, for a few days at a time.

We had to ask twice for our sheets to be changed. My wife confronted the staff after they didnt do it, but they claimed they did. She said she knew they had not changed the sheets, since one of the sheets had a blue stain on it when we checked in, and those sheets were still on the bed.

For two mornings in a row, I went into the mens restroom downstairs, no paper towels to use after washing hands.

If you are planning on staying here long term, be advised that there is no laundry facility on site for you to do your own laundry.

This could be a really nice place to stay if they could hire folks that took pride in their work.

Mixed Experience at Hampton Inn Tigard – Great Staff, Poor Cleanliness

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Tigard for nearly two weeks and had a very mixed experience. The lobby is beautiful, and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. A standout was the morning breakfast attendant, who was not only hysterical but also engaging with guests—an absolute delight!

However, I was shocked by the lack of cleanliness throughout the property. Trash in the hallways was never taken out, garbage cans were overflowing, and cigarette butts littered the area. The elevators had sticky hand streaks, and there was spilled soda or another sticky substance that made the floors feel grimy. Stepping into the elevator and having my feet stick to the floor was really off-putting. The area outside near the plants also had scattered trash.

What made this even more disappointing was that some of the same friendly employees I enjoyed interacting with were seen sitting on their phones during slower hours when they could have been addressing these maintenance issues. Perhaps it’s a management issue, but there was clearly no effort to keep the hotel tidy. Another major turnoff was seeing employees smoking right in front of the main entrance—it doesn’t create a welcoming or professional first impression.

It’s unfortunate because this hotel is in a great location and has a wonderful team of people working here. With better management and attention to cleanliness, it could easily be an outstanding place to stay. Until those issues are addressed, I wouldn’t recommend it for travelers expecting Hampton’s usual standards of upkeep.

Solid Stay at Hampton Inn Portland Tigard – Top Floor Recommended!

Our recent stay at the Hampton Inn Portland Tigard was mostly positive, with a few hiccups along the way. The highlight of our experience was Ericka at the front desk—she was a star! Despite the chaos of a cheer and basketball tournament filling the hotel, she handled check-ins swiftly and efficiently. Unfortunately, my digital key was not available, and our requested 4th-floor room wasn’t ready when we arrived around 4 PM, but we were accommodated on the 3rd floor instead.

Room & Amenities
We stayed in the 1 King W/Microwave/Fridge Studio Suite, which was spacious and comfortable. The bed was ultra comfortable, and while the duvet had a small stain, I trusted it had been laundered. One minor inconvenience—our shower was missing the body wash bottle upon arrival, but after texting the front desk, Denise quickly sent someone up to install it.

A top-floor room is a must at this hotel! The floors are thin, and we could hear walking, coughing, and talking from above. Thankfully, the front desk offers earplugs. One particularly loud night, we texted the front desk, and Estefani responded promptly. She even called the room above us to ask them to quiet down after midnight, which was greatly appreciated.

Location & Parking
The location is excellent—right off the freeway, making it easy to get around. While not walkable, Walmart, Fred Meyer, Costco, and Starbucks are just a short 1-3 minute drive away. Free parking is a huge plus, especially compared to Hilton properties in downtown Portland that charge for parking.

Breakfast – A Letdown
We tried the complimentary breakfast one morning, and it was underwhelming. The hot food selection included scrambled eggs, potatoes (labeled as "redskin" but weren’t), and sausage patties. By the time I got there, only one burnt patty and a partial leftover piece remained. The eggs and sausage were bland, so I opted for a bagel with cream cheese and jelly and then grabbed a breakfast sandwich from Starbucks instead. Maybe it was just an off day, being a Monday?

Overall Thoughts
This was a decent stay—as long as you get a top-floor room. The hotel was clean, well-located, and offered free parking, which is a big perk. The staff was hit or miss—some, like Ericka, Estefani, and Denise, were fantastic, but customer service overall could use some improvement.

Would I stay again? Yes, but only if I could get a room on the top floor.

We come here for my partners business trips about every two weeks for six months usually we stay two nights this time it was four nights. We like this location best because it has the pool and hot tub. We even go out of the way a bit because we have liked it so much. The first stays were great. The other Hamptons give us doggie bags a note for the door and two waters which is such a nice touch. We don’t get those here but the dog is still welcome and there’s a nice space outside to walk him. No bags tho so bring your own. I hate to give a crap review because I want this place to stay here but the service is terrible. If you get anyone at the front desk they are incompetent. The coffee is often out and they don’t refill it like the other Hamptons we stay at, nor is there fruit available. The rooms are getting bad too this time we had no office chair no cups for coffee and no shampoo or conditioner. Additionally, the body wash was completely MIA. The fridge had mold In it. I bring my own stuff but this time I forgot and so it was untimely. When the missing chair was brought in the guy just barged in the door no knocking or anything!!! He said he didn’t realize we were in the room. I feel like they have slim to no communication down there. That’s all whatever but here’s the kicker!!! We put the “still enjoying the room” sign on the door and left for the afternoon. We came back and our garbages having been taken and random garbage bags like a Fred Meyer bag (that had food in it I was planning on returning) were gone. The toilet paper was new, but there was an extra roll so not really needed. Still no shampoo, conditioner, body wash, or cups. The bummer is I had tax documents, social security statements, pay stubs, and medical records. I had no intention of leaving that trash I was taking it home to shred. Also, when we decided to stay another night (around ten am) we booked another night and she told the guy right then we would be staying and gave us new keys. THE SIGN WAS ALSO ON THE DOOR! There was no reason for anyone to come in our room and take care of half the job. They made it right by going through the trash and getting it back to me ( what they could find ) which was appreciated. Had we left our dog while we grabbed something out of the car or grabbed lunch, I don’t think he would have responded well. Had I been napping & someone came in it would have been hostile, I carry and have PTSD. I’m so glad this wasn’t the case. Last time we were here we had a room with pink sparkly paint all over the chair and island dresser plus no lampshade at all on one of the nightstands. It’s going downhill quickly the entire staff is unfriendly minus the breakfast lady who will warm and serve a new dish of gravy when asked. I observed that and was happy at least one person goes above and beyond here, bless her! She was busy yet helpful and friendly. It should be said that the manager Miss Cosby happily printed some papers for us and that was very helpful and kind. The hours are wrong on the pool and hot tub as well that say 6am but don’t open till seven am (the extra hour of sleep would have been great) I would like this place to stay and be successful our first couple months were great! Hopefully this review can initiate some changes.

We stayed here for many of the offered amenities with our kids. We unfortunately had a very bad experience. While swimming in the pool one morning they began to clean the pool and it instantly smelled of chlorine. I went to get towels from the front desk as the pool area was out. I met my kids in the hallway coughing and throwing up. We ended up in the ER with chlorine poisoning. Management staff has been unresponsive in communication. Would not stay here again

Had a great stay at the Tigard location. The hotel was extremely clean, still feels new, and the AGM Erica was very friendly at check-in. They recognized my Honors status and I enjoyed the waffles, fitness center, and hotel location-convenient to freeway.

This is one of my favorite Hamptons as I’ve been here quite a few times lately. Friendly staff, building is newer and the rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is good, and the internet is fast enough for gaming (with the premium internet). Never had a complaint 🙂

My stay was great overall! Seamless check-in, comfortable & clean room, and top-notch service the entire stay. Specifically, Erica in the food sevice / hospitality sector was amazing! She was more than welcoming each morning during breakfast, and we could all see how much pride she takes in her job.

Absolutely recommended!
