A fine hotel right on the Olentangy River. The suite was perfect, it was clean and we had a view of the river. It’s next door to Bob Evans if you like that kind of food. It has a large fitness center open 24 hours. It was quiet during our stay, although that can vary depending on what events are happening at OSU.

This is one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed in. We primarily book through James, and the staff here has been absolutely incredible. When you are staying for treatments, you are typically pretty tired and this staff is so welcoming and accommodating for us! We’ve stayed close to 20 times over the past few months and have never had an issue. The rooms are always spotless, the breakfast is the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had, and both the pool and gym are exceptionally clean. If you need a place to stay in Columbus, this is it—great value and outstanding service. Keep up the great work, Hampton Inn on Olentangy!

We made the trek to Columbus for GalaxyCon this past weekend. But since the prices on the downtown hotels were astronomical, I looked for something less expensive but still close to downtown. The Hampton Inn University area worked out quite well for us – about a 10 minute drive from downtown. Plus, it is a decent neighborhood and has free parking. We typically stay at Hampton Inns, as they tend to be fairly consistent. And this one falls within the higher side of that range. It looks like the hotel was renovated within that past couple of years. Everything was clean and well maintained. Service was polite and helpful. The included breakfast bar was typical, but everything was fresh and the attendant made sure it was well-stocked. It is one of the larger Hamptons, but there was plenty of seating at the breakfast bar and it never got overwhelmed. The room was spacious and clean, with a very good bed. It looks like they have switched the TV over to streaming (rather than satellite) and it is still occasionally glitchy. But it worked fine for the time we were there. They also have a QR code to tip your housekeeper, which is an added convenience. All in all, it is a very good choice if you are in the area.

Edited to add, Funny how they reply to all the "good" reviews in a matter of hours, but have not posted a reply to this one...

There are people breaking out windows NIGHTLY in the parking lot of this and the two hotels that surround it ! AND IT'S BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS!
The hotel staff will not warn you of this, they will not add extra security! Nor will the the local police do anything about it. You can't tell me the front desk person did not hear the sound of dozens of car windows being smashed! We were told here is the report number call your insurance. We stayed there because it was close to the hospital my wife was having back surgery at in the morning. So instead of her being nice and calm going into surgery we had this to deal with first thing!
The hotel staff could not have cared less! I had to call an uber to get my wife to the hospital and then deal with all this while she was in surgery, I have reached out to management and they have not replied.
Despicable actions taken by this hotel!
I was also informed from reading other reviews that the hotel will not turn on the lot lights at night....

Excellent hotel. One of the cleanest, friendliest we have stayed at, and we have traveled extensively for work and pleasure in the past. The breakfast room is spotless! The assortment is good, and the supervisor, Mike makes sure everything is perfect. We really enjoyed meeting him and seeing how much he cared about the guests. There were some guests cross contaminating things and his watchful eye didn't miss it. The rooms are spotless, large and very comfortable. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful no matter what time of day. The entire hotel is well kept and spotlessly clean. It is quiet and they use Kind shampoo, conditioner, etc. We loved everything about staying here.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Columbus/University Area for a graduation ceremony at a university in Columbus on December 15, 2024. Before booking, I checked Google reviews for hotels around Columbus and noticed some hotels had issues with car windows being broken in the parking lot at night. After careful consideration, I chose this hotel, assuming it would be safe.

However, upon my arrival on December 14, 2024, I noticed two cars being towed from the hotel parking lot. Curious, I asked the tow truck driver what happened, and he informed me that two cars had their windows broken the previous night. This immediately made me concerned. I approached the front desk to ask about the situation. They reassured me that incidents like this “sometimes happen,” but they have security at night, and I “shouldn’t worry because it won’t happen again.” Despite their reassurance, I decided not to park at the hotel and instead parked at my friend’s house for safety.

When we checked out on December 16, 2024, I spoke to some guests who confirmed that 9 car windows were broken the night before. I also confirmed this information with the front desk.

Pros:
• Excellent customer service
• Great breakfast
• Clean facilities

Cons:
• Car window break-ins at the parking lot seem to be a recurring issue.
• Bathroom was noisy.

While I appreciated the staff and the amenities, I do not recommend this hotel due to safety concerns regarding the parking lot. It appears that someone is deliberately targeting cars at night, and the hotel needs to take stronger measures to address the issue

Beautiful hotel located off highway and close to campus. We upgraded our room for $15 extra dollars and it was worth it! Huge sitting area with breakfast bar. Nice size dressing area near sink and bathroom. Great pillow and linens. Comfy night sleep on our way to Pittsburgh. King room with sofabed and fridge on 2nd floor.
