I travel frequently and this is probably one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I booked a non-smoking room over six months ago. When my wife arrived at the hotel, they would not allow her to check in since the reservation was under my name. They also would not allow me to add her name to the reservation over the phone, so she needed to wait. When I arrived, they told me that all of the non-smoking rooms had been 'taken' by folks who had arrived before me. I asked how this made any sense since I reserved a non-smoking room many months ago. The hotel manager actually said "first come first serve" LOL

Anyway, my daughter has asthma and I explained this would not work for us. The staff would not budge on their 'policy', stating that smoking vs. non-smoking is only just a preference and preferences could not be guaranteed. Again, LOL

To explain the conditions of the room is more than the word limit of this review will allow. It was atrocious - completely disgusting and absolutely reeked. It was a complete nightmare and we all felt sick because of it. The next morning we asked if a non-smoking room had become available for our second and final night and staff allowed us to move. However, they made no attempt to address the situation of the prior night and only kept stating 'non-smoking is just a preference' and 'first come first serve'. I hope anyone who does not smoke and values their health thinks twice about staying at this hotel.

At 60, I've been coming to Foxwoods for over 30 years. I come mostly for bingo sessions, so the convenient location of the Cedar hotel elevators, which open onto the fast-food food court, and down the hall from the bingo admissions gates, makes this a good choice.||||Foxwoods has been great to me with regard to rewards and comp rooms, so I don't want to complain about anything, but I have to comment on several of the front staff at Great Cedars. In comparison to Pequots check in staff, I am seldom greeted or treated equally or respectfully. If you are going to smile and greet approaching guests, please do it for ALL guests, minorities included. If you are going to go above and beyond by offering baggage assistance, hotel info, or the elevators location? Please do it for all guests (we tend to notice the more energetic and welcome greeting to those behind us in line that don't look like us). These micro aggressions are often labeled as silly, or overly sensitive "misunderstandings' but they aren't. Sadly, its often minority staff who treat minority guests with aloof and dismissive service and then 'brighten up' as they move on to addressing non-minority guests. |||| The last time I visited, I was forced to interrupt what appeared to be a hushed personal conversation between the female desk agent (late check-in) and a black male in a black service uniform. I'm sure my statements can be researched and reviewed via camera, but I don't expect it. ||||I just wanted to express my disappointment today because despite a Wednesday evening check in (its slow) for three nights, I was given the room at the very end of the hall (an *02) that's directly across from a very heavy door labeled "employees only". This door is slammed shut constantly!! With 45 rooms in one direction, her choosing to place me here was a conscious decision. . Its the equivalent of being giving a restaurant table " in the back".|||| In my traveling experience, I come to expect aloof service from African American female employees, especially when servicing African American female customers, so Great Cedars needs to understand this cultural cancer because it does exist.|||| The Pequot hotel is a longer walk but your 'minority 'customer experience will be positive from beginning to end.||||BY placing me at the VERY end of this hall, and the obvious elation she demonstrated for the approaching guests compelled me to write.

My friend and I stayed at the cedar woods hotel for the night after seeing a show. My friend requested a non smoking room 3 months ago, and when we showed up, they said they only had smoking rooms available. We had no idea that we weren’t going to be guaranteed a non smoking room, otherwise we would’ve payed extra to make sure we were in a smoking room. It was disgusting.

This was a horrible stay. I checked in on the 24th and when I got to my room the refrigerator did not work so I called down to the front and they were supposed to send somebody up and they never did. I paid a little extra to check out the next day for 4:00 p.m. On the morning of the 25th I was sitting at the table getting ready to go down for breakfast at 8:30 in the morning and my door opened up in housekeeping was walking in while I was getting dressed she turned around and walked out I was like WTF so I put the do not clean tag on the door that I did not want them coming into my room so I continue to get dressed and went down for breakfast then so done shopping and enjoy the day. I came back up to my room at 3:30 to get ready to check out and I was approached by the housekeeping manager who informed me that housekeeping went back to my room and started cleaning it. they touched my personal items and everything. I was shocked I told him I had the tag on the door,why are they entering my room when I don't want them to and he had nothing else to say except sorry she probably didn't read it. I asked him do you guys not know when a guest purchases a late checkout and he said no . my privacy has been violated and I will never stay here again I told the front desk and they didn't care

Hotel reminded me of a motel, was not worth the crazy amount of money we paid. Also we booked a non smoking room and when we checked in they overbooked so they gave us a smoking room and it was disgusting. Overall terrible experience and won’t be going back.

Awful outdated, loud AF, smelly rooms. Not as advertised! Bathroom was tiny. No two vanities in the same bathroom as shown in the picture. Did I mention outdated?! The only reason I gave it a 2 rating is because the ac was pumping, which I love. Set to morgue! However, would never come back here!!
