We had such a great time and unique experience. Home cooked food was amazing, I suggest not only the breakfast you get with your stay, but also supper for a reasonable fee. My husband went on a horse ride with other guests, they had a fire for s'mores and we played music 2 of the 3 nights we were there. Slept so well in the deep quiet of this expansive land. We especially LEARNED so much about ranching from the 7 generation family that runs it, they are the real deal. There is no power in the cabins, but a generator that runs in the morning and evening for a few hours. Although I panicked initially about no power or bathroom, it was very easy to get used to and we fell right into this community and took right to the bathhouse facility. It was a lovely 1 hour 20 minute drive to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon during the day. Highly Recommended for those that want a real ranch experience, but are well taken care of.

My husband and I recently traveled throughout Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona and the Ranch was one of our favorite places we visited! Such a unique experience, staying in the cabin & dining on site. Debbie is a fantastic cook and host, and my home-cooked dinner was worth a lot more than the $15 I paid for it, especially after spending so many days on the road. If only our vacation could have been longer, we would have loved to spend a few more days here, riding the horses (and my personal favorite - playing with the dogs). Breakfast was also such a delight. ||||The cabin was comfortable and well-insulated. Outside, it was 105 during the day, and in the 60s at night, and the temperature in the cabin was perfect. The bedding was very comfortable as well. One of my concerns prior to getting to the Ranch was how far spread it would be, and if it would be uncomfortable for me to have to get up to walk to the bath house - but no, everything is close by. The cabins are very close to the main meeting "saloon" as well as the bath house, but far enough to feel private if you just want to sit on your porch and watch the sunset or the bonfire. I was even able to see the Milky Way late at night when I emerged from our cabin. I've never been anywhere devoid of enough light to be able to see it with the naked eye. Absolutely incredible!||||Everyone we met at the Ranch was kind and generous, and although I tried not to let it show, I got a little choked up when it was time to leave. I've already recommended the Ranch to numerous friends and family members looking for a little time out in the wild west. We would love to have an opportunity to return in the future. Wonderful!

The ranch is a great place to stay. We were only there one night but I wish could have stayed longer. The people are genuine and very kind. Debbie is very welcoming and a delicious cook. Breakfast is included and dinner will cost $15. The ranch has no electricity in the cabins and that makes it so much more comfortable. You are there to have some peace and experience something awesome. The ranch is fully operational, where cowboys ride up into the mountains in the morning to round up the cattle to bring them down off the mountains before winter comes. If you are heading to the north rim of the Grand Canyon, this is the best place to stay!

This is a working cattle ranch around a 1 hour drive from the Grand Canyon North Rim. It provides basic and comfortable lodgings in cabins with a shared bathhouse facility. We spent a night there with our two boys (12 and 9) all in one room with a double bed and bunk beds. We had wonderful wholesome, rustic food and shared a camp fire with other guests and some marshmallows. ||The whole place is clean, welcoming and very relaxed. Lights out and lamps on at 9pm when the gennie is turned off. ||Make sure to book a horse ride with the ranch Cowboys - we had AJ as our guide - he is a top man!||Highly recommended and a much better alternative to the overpriced rim side lodges or tatty chain motels.

We had a WONDERFUL experience at this ranch. We loved the cabin, the food, the hosts, and even the pets! Our little boy loved playing with the other kids and the cute cat that was very sweet. We appreciated the amazing food, warm coffee, and the great hospitality at The Grand Canyon Ranch & Outfitters. We couldn't get our 6 year old to leave! We will definitely be back!

Know a place from where you can see the wooded Kaibab Plateau rise to eventually give way to the grandest canyon of them all and just opposite the colorful Escalante Stairways across the Utah state line? From where you can spot the striking silhuette of the lonely mountain called Mollie's Nipple and, on a clear day, actually see as far as Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon on the far horizon? This is the magnificent setting for one of the nicest working ranches you are likely to find west of the great divide: Grand Canyon Ranch and Outfitters. Even if you are only using it as an overnight hub for your hiking/biking/rappeling adventures in northern Arizona and southern Utah, this is a perfect spot: smackdab in the middle of everything. But frankly, going to a working ranch and not work cattle? Impossible. So, if that inner cowboy of yours is pining for some wild and wooly action out west, you have come to the right place. If you are a rank beginner, the wonderful folks of G.C.R. will find a gentle horse for you that will faithfully carry you across the miles. If you are not so new to the ranch business, you might find yourself trailing a bunch of cows all by your lonesome, while the other hands are busy looking for strays on the other end of the pasture. You will occasionally crash through timber and battle the vegetation, and you will also spend long hours in the saddle without a break, and you will admire your horse for jogging or loping over rough terrain without tripping. Ever helped in the groundcrew during roundup, vaccinating calves? Or holding a cows head while she's being treated for lumpjaw? You have no idea what you missed. Come as a dude, leave as a top hand (more or less).||The people at the ranch welcome you to their big familiy and Debbie serves the best food you have ever sunk your lunchgrabbers into. If you rise from the ranch table hungry, it's all your fault. Don't even THINK about dieting. This is not the place for it. And you will need all that wholesome food to keep you going all day. ||The cabins are rustic, but clean and cozy - and the beds have excellent mattresses. No, there is no electricity - just a generator that runs a few hours per day. But battery operated storm lamps help you find the way between your cabin and the bath house even in the dark of night.||I had the time of my life there and I am sure I will return as soon as possible for a second helping. Can I recommend it? Yes. And there is only one down side to this place: the folks are hard to reach via EMail or phone or their somewhat outdated website. It might take several tries. Keep trying and don't give up. It's all worthwhile.

Staying at the Grand Canyon Ranch & Outfitters was the most memorable part of my trip to Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyons. I really connected with the cowboy way of life and the owners who were happy to share their ranch with us. I want to go back and join one of their cattle round-ups. Just a word of caution; the cabins have no electricity and if you have to "go" at night then the bath house is in another building. That don't bother me none if, instead, I get to wake up to an adventure like this every day!

This is paradise, not your usual B&B or hotel! It's hard to find such a tranquil place in the world today. Once the cricket songs fade toward late evening, you are presented with only the gentle whispers of a light breeze rustling the grasses. After a great night's sleep, you'll awake to the smell of an authentic feast of home-cooked eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy and fresh fruit which you'll enjoy while looking out past the grazing horses on the vast plateau towards the Grand Staircase of the Escalante.||||Do you love serenity, natural beauty, honest, non-pretentious hearty meals and decent and generous hosts who will go out of their way to make you feel like family? This is your place! ||||Are you the self-important, high-maintenance type who wastes their money on artificial sophistication and amenities and demands (false) respect and service from people who are just trying to get by?. If so, stay away! This place is not for you!|| ||This is a very unassuming place with very few extras and amenities. But that is why you're here, right? To get away from it all: away from life's baggage! 🙂 Expect to have a comfortable bed in an immaculate rustic cabin (well built and insulated old CCC cabins transported to this location) with unique western/ranching artifacts in each room. Expect the lights to cut off around 9:00 PM when the generator shuts down (who wants a noisy generator ruining the silence all night long anyway) so you can re-establish your natural circadian rhythms. Note: This may change in the near future as they are planning to add a solar array and batteries to power the rooms after dark in the next few months. Also, currently there is no need for heating or cooling in the Fall and Spring (our stay was perfectly comfortable), but they plan to add gas heat and swamp coolers also in the next few months to make the cabins comfortable in the Winter and Summer. Don't expect an in-room bath/toilet. Instead, they have a clean, bath/shower/restroom house (not a scary outhouse or anything) with separate facilities for men and women. Even that may partially change as they are considering adding in-room toilets in the near future. There's also no WiFi currently (that may change), but there is ample coverage from ATT and Verizon (at least), though...shouldn't you be unplugging anyway? ;-)||||If you come here in the right frame of mind, with correct expectations, the experience is hard to beat. I'm honored to be among the first to stay here and to offer the first review of this place. I wish them great success so I can return many times in the future!
