Stayed one night at The Gaard House on our drive from Canada to Sacramento. Greeted by our lovely host Amy. She gave us a great recommendation to visit the neighbouring winery Monkgate. Our room was beautiful, spotless and quiet. Breakfast was a highlight crafted by the creative host Shaun. Accompanied by great conversation with both Amy and Shaun, we felt like family. |Hope to return.

This is an amazing B&B. Amy and Sean are great host. They make you feel like home . The view of the property is breathtaking, rooms are very clean and quaint. Sean is a great cook, breakfast was delicious and Amy went out of her way to help us find the best places for our stay. Excellent stay here! Shawn and Amy were awesome hosts with an abundance of information about the area and beyond. The breakfasts were delicious and unhurried. Sitting on the patio listening to the birds overlooking wine country was beautiful! If we ever get back to Carlton, we would plan to stay again.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Gaard House. Location/setting is wonderful, tranquil and calm. Incredible views of rolling hills and vineyards. Breakfast was amazing - unique, farm to table, local, quality Oregon ingredients! Hosts provided excellent recommendations for wineries and restaurants.

What a nice surprise!||We don’t stay in B&B’s. In the past, there’s been that whole chintz and lace maccasar thing, along with stilted conversation and odd odors. But a last minute trip to The Willamette Valley on a holiday weekend landed us at the Gaard house, as our usual alternatives were booked. ||We were greeted by Shawn and an immaculate house nicely furnished with clean, modern lines. Not a cabbage rose in sight! The views from the breakfast room and living area were pastoral, with vineyards and forests. The setting was absolutely serene. We had a good dinner in Carlton and slept fairly well. Breakfast the next morning was perfect! My husband is gluten free, and was treated to a delicious baked sweet potato with hazelnut butter and banana, along with local honey. Right up his alley! Complementing it was skyr and plump sweet blueberries and Carlton Farms bacon, which is my new crush. Along with great wine country talk and local stories, we passed a pleasant breakfast hour before a day of tasting. Amy is a font of knowledge re: the local wine scene and got us a tasting at a new favorite winery, Sequiter, where we got a vertical tasting to take home and enjoyed some biodynamic conversation with Mike. ||The only small hitches had to do with personal preferences regarding room temp and pillows- otherwise the stay was perfect!

What a relaxing, beautiful retreat. Amy and Shawn are consummate hosts. We loved our room, felt welcomed and cared for on our visit. Breakfast was wonderful, especially with such fun conversations! They work to share food from local vendors and creatively share delicious dishes. It was fun to hear about the products they were sharing, and we couldn’t get enough of the delicious meal. Every suggestion for things to do in the area was spot on. Will definitely visit again.

What a special Bed & Breakfast experience! My partner and I visited Gaard House for a one-night stay and were really not expecting to find such a unique gem in the middle of wine country. When we drove up Shawn was already out doing some yard work and came to meet us at the front door. We proceeded with a short and sweet tour of the home, which is way larger than any photos lead you to believe. The basement is large with a theater room, hangout areas, and a few instruments laying around. The main level is just as large with a focus on the vineyard view out the kitchen/dining rooms. Back towards the front door the spiral staircase leads you to the 4 private rooms. We stayed in the Robin’s Nest, which had a shared bathroom door that also led out to the hallway. All the finishes are new and everything was extremely clean. If you feel strongly about sharing bathrooms this could be an issue for you, but we had no problem with our setup.

The rest of our stay was just wonderful - we visited Black Dog Vineyard and MonksGate Vi yard (but just ask around and you will have plenty of recommendations) and finished the evening with some casual conversation with other guests at Gaard House. In the morning, Amy and Shawn will have a from-scratch breakfast (served at 9am) with fresh juices and coffee. We will certainly come back and stay here whenever we’re in town, our lovely hosts made us feel right at home. We can’t recommend this authentic B&B enough!

In two words, Exquisite and Delightful!! -- So grateful to have been introduced to this B&B by a former professional colleague. We were one of the first guests to stay at The Gaard House, and we were captivated and charmed by this gorgeous property and landscape! Shawn and Amy have beautifully appointed their home -- all rooms and amenities were airy and modern, down to the little touches of luxurious towels, soaps and lotions in the bath. Shawn's healthy, farm-to-table breakfasts were spectacular, and evenings on the patio sipping wine or relaxing with a beer left us feeling as if we didn't have a care in the World. There is much on offer in their lower level (e.g. movie theater, pool table), and I was able to take my daily yoga sessions there as well; during a very hot period of the summer, it was an ideal spot for meditation and reflection. Most of all, Shawn and Amy's hospitality -- including lots of good tips for first-timers to OR -- turned a place for rest and slumber into one of the most memorable parts of our first trip to this beautiful state!
