Great small market with good fresh produce. Tight aisles but, patience will go a long way.

I typically avoid shopping at Food City due to the poor cleanliness and upkeep of the stores. However, on occasion, I’ve stopped by for specialty packaged items. Unfortunately, every visit reinforces my concerns. I’ve seen dead flies in the bakery section near the fresh baked goods, which raises serious health and safety questions. The meat department is especially concerning, as the quality of their products often feels questionable.

On December 31st, I decided to make menudo for my family and went to Food City to purchase beef tripe, as Fry’s—my preferred store—was out of stock. I first purchased 4.5 lbs of tripe from the butcher at $4.99/lb around 1:30 PM. A couple of hours later, I returned to get more, only to find that the packaged tripe had increased to $5.99/lb. Out of curiosity, I checked with the butcher, and indeed, the price had been hiked within just two hours. While frustrated, I had no choice but to buy it.

When I got home and began preparing the tripe, I discovered that not all of it was beef honeycomb tripe. Additionally, it was filled with small black hairs and other impurities—completely disgusting and inedible. I had to bag it and put in fridge for return and ordered pizza for dinner instead.

I will be returning this meat and hope the manager will refund me for the total amount. Price gouging, like raising prices by a dollar within hours, feels unethical and should be illegal.

It’s disheartening that Food City continues to operate in such poor conditions. Surprise really needs a clean, reliable store that offers authentic Mexican products without sacrificing quality or ripping off customers.

Really good place to get some hot carnitas meal and chill . Very Bueno place to eat Spanish food .

They jack their own community with overpriced food plus the meat in the butcher block is very questionable marking down rotten meat that should be thrown out, they just drown it in seasonings and try to push it for a few dollars knowing darn well it needs to be tossed out. They used to have a bomb bakery with fresh sweet bread competing with the best in Phoenix but lately who knows what happened the bread is hard as a rock, tooth breaking type stuff.....it's very disappointing😞 the owner needs to revisit his business plan.

I used to like shopping here. But lately I can’t count on them. I work late and do my shopping in the evening. They are supposed to be open 6am-10pm. That’s what they say if you ask and a sign on the window says the same thing. On numerous occasions they have closed before 10pm and I wasn’t able to do any shopping. Tonight is the night AFTER Christmas and it was 7:30pm and they were announcing that they were closing in 30 minutes. So they just randomly decided to close 2 hours early on a non holiday. I asked the cashier why they were closing 2 hours early and she said she didn’t know why. This crap has to Stop! I came in with plenty of time to shop and I was still rushed out with half of the lights off. I don’t think any managers read or respond to these reviews. I will be going to the top to find out what the heck is going on. Meanwhile I won’t waste anymore time shopping there

This food city always got some nice workers. I always feel weird going into these places because I don't speak no Spanish but they are very helpful to us when we have a question about something.

My first visit to Food City...I've never seen such variety of marinated meats & cheeses, peppers & sweet treats. The roasted Pasilla Peppers smelled heavenly... Also, Got a recipe for roasted Nopales (cactus paddles) from a customer that was carefully picking some out...

High praise for Eunice in the meat section. Eunice is very helpful. My cashier at the front was also very nice.
