After a drive from Monument Valley along unpaved roads through sandy desert terrain, you arrive at this enchanting spot. It's a small, green oasis nestled in the heart of the desert. The daughter of the family welcomed us with great warmth and care, guiding us to our hogan, which accommodates up to six people.

For both the children and us, it was a remarkable experience. Here, the overnight fee isn't for luxury or high-end amenities, but for a unique and memorable night that offers a glimpse into the life of the Diné people, as the Navajo call themselves, within their reservation.

We loved our stay there! It's been 7 years since we stayed, and we still remember it fondly. We shared a hogan with our three teenage children, and the setting was so unique and low-key that we all enjoyed ourselves.
We took lovely walks (day and night), played with the outdoor kitties, read books in the shade, and visited with the delightful owners over a delicious breakfast. My husband and I hope to return for a longer stay so we can explore Monument Valley; we were just passing through last time.

The place is interesting (although not easy to find) and you can take some interesting walks around. The room itself is very original and it changes from the classic hotel room, with something more traditionnal. That being said the value for money is not very good, especially taking into consideration the level of comfort which is very very basic

It could be better. The rooms are cool. But it is a little over priced for simply being a hogan. The couple running the place was very nice. The issues we had were they had several outdoor cats which were not well taken care of. Also, the cats were busy killing the wildlife in the area. We watched one kill a very large bug. There was a lot of junk on the property as well that impacted the overall look and feel of the place. The bathrooms were cleanand there was hot water.

Quirky place to pitch a tent, near-ish to the main sights in Monument Valley. Shade was sparse, but wind was not. Bathrooms, showers, and potable water were the upsides. Hot water. Be ready to drive miles down a sand road. It was also hard to contact the owners in the 2 days before we arrived. Breakfast not included with camping, my three kids described it as ‘Weird, Random, and Not great’

Four of us reserved two hogans for one night. I personally loved the experience and slept very well. I think that one needs to expect that this experience is one step above camping. We spoke with a man who was staying here for a week with his partner. They were enjoying the experience, taking day trips in their jeep ( all wheel drive is recommended) and returning before dark each night. You must walk down a short path to the bathroom and showers but there are lighted pathways to guide you. I felt very safe and comfortable walking the pathways. The owners are a couple that lives on the premises. Do not expect breakfast to be more than snacks, but it was adequate and the coffee was very good. There are small fridges in the hogans. The hogans also have air conditioners. There was wifi but we lost it at times. This is not a place where you will spend time on the internet or email. Go before it gets dark as this is pretty much "off the grid" and it would be challenging to locate after dark. There is one restaurant on the Navajo reservation and the food is cafeteria quality. They do not serve alcohol at the restaurant. The only time we encountered litter in all of Utah was on the reservation land, heading towards the hogans, where we saw broken liquor bottles along the dirt roads. The Fire Tree property, however, is quaint, clean and the paths are litter free and well marked. The proprietors made stone pathways for walking around the desert, which we did in the morning. They also have a fire pit, which we sat around before bedtime. If you don't like cats please know that there are a dozen or more adult cats and kittens on the property. They are not allowed in the hogans however and are very friendly. If you do not like closed in spaces know that the hogans slope down and the beds are tucked around the perimeter of the room. Most will have to duck their heads to enter through the doorways but the center of the room is taller and you can stand up and walk around easily. The larger hogan had a dirt floor but the one my husband and I stayed in, which was smaller, had a stone floor. I think this experience is something that the four of us travelers will talk about for a long time!

Our multi-generational family loved the experience! You are surrounded by the simplicity and beauty of the dessert. Martin and Raquel were amazing hosts. While there, we enjoyed climbing up on the Mesa, sharing a family bbq dinner together, and visiting the sites around Monument Valley. We started our days with a delightful breakfast of homemade bread, pastry and coffee. Our family slept so well in the hogans and the shower/restroom was close by and well maintained. Highly recommend FireTree Inn for those seeking an escape from the everyday.
