We stay here whenever we visit my son. It is a few steps from his house and in the heart of Fairfax so can walk to dinner, breakfast, shopping etc. The rooms are large and have nice furniture and jacuzzi tubs. Perfectly adequate and comfortable. I didn't find any of the complaints to be true. It's not a chain hotel. The owner/manager is very sweet and helpful.

This property feels really old, and not in a good way. My main gripe was with the bedding. By not using a bedspread, you’re forced to sleep with a duvet cover that you know does not get laundered between guests. Same goes for the many pillow shams. While this may work for the guest bedroom in your home, it’s just creepy when a hotel does it. Also, the TP roll was 3/4 used. Just change it. I know it’s wasteful, but it’s weird to sit down and see a roll that is almost out.
On the upside, the location of the property can’t be beat - right in the heart of downtown Fairfax.

I was really happy with this Inn. Some of the older reviews complain about how it was advertised they had breakfast when they didn't. When I read up on them it was very clear the did NOT provide breakfast and why wood they? Fairfax is a food oasis of the highest order. Good Earth Natural Foods is just down the street - most amazing grocery store in California!

Probably best part of Inn is it's location. It's just off the main street, which means, after the dining/entertainment places shut down, it's really quiet. But it's also right in the middle of the Fairfax business district so it's super convenient to food, bars, music, the park, public transport, a public car charger, etc...

The second best part is that the rooms have jacuzzi tubs! What a treat!

My room was clean and decorated by someone who clearly cares about the place. There was love in it. Something missing in chain motels.

I got the cheapest room I could. There was no mini-fridge. This wasn't a problem for me, but it's something that is standard in most motels so it's worth mentioning that there isn't one in at least some of their rooms.

The gas fireplace also didn't work. I suspect this may be on purpose. I suspect city of Fairfax will require that if gas fire place needs fixing inn will have to replace with electric, which is expensive. That's a thing in California. But it's Fairfax and you don't need a fireplace ever.

It's worth noting that you have to arrive before 10pm or else you won't get your room.

Marin County is pricey. I am delighted to have found such a good deal, run by lovely people, in the best city in Marin County to stay in if you are visiting the area.

Second time at this location and same room. Loved it enough to return again. central to downtown Fairfax, within walking distance of 90% of restaurants, bars and cafes. Clean: I took a UV lamp with me; no signs of bugs, clean sheets all is good! I had the king suite caveats: the fireplace does not work, nor does the jacuzzi tub, but it is a nice large tub for soaking!

This motel was adequate for our needs and was probably worth what we paid. The breakfast was a bag of waters and granola/breakfast bars. The room was clean, the shower was hot and the bed was comfortable. Pretty sure all the decorations and bedding was picked out by my grandmother. Great location to shops and restaurants. We walked to a great local coffee spot before we hit the road.

The Fairfax inn was great! Ok it's not the Ritz. But clean rooms comfortable beds, very friendly staff who were really supportive and understanding. Safe parking nice linens and centrally located for excellent access to the town. Great place to mountain bike from. I'd definitely book again when needed to stay in the area. Many thanks. We booked a double queen-bed room for our family of four. More than adequate for our two night stay. Looking for a five star resort with an in-house spa? This is not the place! It’s a clean and quiet spot to get a good night’s rest after exploring the valley and coast. Room was clean, and beds were very comfortable. No frills breakfast hit the spot; hot coffee and croissants for adults; hot cocoa and cereal for the kids. Big soaker tub and soft, 2-ply TP 🙂 Owner is very friendly and more than happy to share local intel; she’s lived here for 30 years. We’ll be back for sure!

When my fiance and I bedded down, we ordered some Thai food and immediately recieved a phone call from the owner asking whether or not the Thai food delivery person was either a secret guest of ours or had a secret cat.
That actually made me pretty uncomfortable.
I had arrived and checked in without incident. I was told that they don't actually offer breakfast when the listing on hotels.com repeatedly and clearly states that they do. I said I'd pay for the night I stayed there and then moved into a hotel that did have an accurate listing. The owner has been fighting me tooth and nail on getting a refund even though the booking information I was provided wasn't accurate.
If you don't mind an inaccurate listing and being interrogated on visitors, the room was very nice and you should do fine here.
