Just spent a week at Fagan's Haven B&B. I stayed in the Alaska Room on a comfortable bed with an attached bath. The studio has a great view of Mt. Hood on a clear day. The ducks are fun to watch and the grounds are beautiful. I'm not a quilter, but love staying here whenever I'm in the area. Jane makes that family style breakfast and she's always testing new recipes to make each stay a new experience.

Probably the best part of Fagan's Haven is the owner. She is a delightful, congenial, informative hostess. If you would like to find out about quilting this is the place to do it. My husband loved learning all about it. The rooms are decorated with some of the wonderful quilts. Its still a great place to stay whether you are a quilt afficiando or not. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is excellent and plentiful. Its in a quiet residential neighborhood with a lovely yard. At the end of the yard are a great flock of ducks--all kinds of breeds. Its close to the Columbia River Gorge area and not far from Portland. Its very reasonable and we consider it one of our great finds on our first trip to Oregon.

I recently stayed at Fagan's Haven B&B. The room was very comfy and homey. Jane is a great hostess. The food was outstanding and she even gave me copies of the recipes. I traveled to a conference with my dog and it was great to be able to come back and have a great fenced yard for him to run in and be able to roam around the house. If in the area I will definitely return. What a fantastic best kept secret.

Just spent a 3 day quilting weekend with 4 friends at Fagan's Haven. Although it was only 45 minutes from home it was a world away.||Jane, the owner was wonderful. She asked about our food preferences and adjusted meals around our timeframe. The meals were exceptional and so delicious. ||The quilting studio was heavenly. There was so much room. The 2 large design walls were very helpful. All we needed to bring were our machines, projects and rotary cutters. We literally quilted until we wilted. And when we got tired of sewing there was always the ducks to keep us amused.||Make sure to ask for the recipes for your favortie dishes, Jane is happy to share.

I had the opportunity to be Jane's guest at Fagan's Haven in March of 2010 thanks to a reference from a friend of mine. And while I've never been too keen on the B&B gig, this experience certainly changed my mind!||||The Haven (as it's come to be called, and for good reason) is within commuting distance of Portland (the reason I had traveled to Oregon), has a choice of themed rooms (with handmade quilts on every bed) and incredible views. And the food! Jane, the owner, makes waking up in the morning a treat with the smells of coffee (or tea) and a spread of food the likes of which you'd expect to see on a ranch. She was also very concerned as to whether I had any dietary needs or allergies (which I don't, but that she'd inquiried made me feel even more taken care of). Even better, when I offered to clear the table (it's her dining room, after all and I wanted to be polite), she refused! It was terrific! ||||The only drawback to the entire weekend was the rain, but you can hardly hold that against The Haven. Jane's ducks seemed to enjoy it just fine, though.

The good: The quilting studio is large, well equipped and the owner is very generous with making tools, rulers, cutting mats, sewing machines and her extensive magazine and book library available. The breakfasts were also good. The owner is friendly.||||The bad: All of the bedrooms smell. They are crammed with the owner's nic nacs, leaving little room for luggage. Not sure why there were multiple bathrobes hanging from all the bedroom and bathroom doors but they definitely contributed to the clutter. The tub had a wad of hair in it from previous guests? It certainly wasn't mine and I showered before any of my traveling companions! We were told to enjoy the yard but there were no chairs to sit on. I spotted two plastic chairs (there were four of us) at the edge of the grounds but they were covered with dirt. The owner did manage to hose them off the next day but since we'd had a reservation for several months, I would have expected at least a few lawn chairs to be waiting so we could enjoy the beautiful weather outdoors, particularly because it was hot.

||I have had the privilege of spending several nights at Fagan's Haven at different points in time.||||First of all, breakfasts are not your typical affair at this B&B. No coffee and store bought muffins for Jane, the owner. On any given day, there could be homemade cinnamon rolls, quiche, bacon, fresh bread... AND! If you have specific dietary restrictions -- vegan, allergies, illnesses-related limitations -- all you have to do is let her know ahead of time.||||And the quilting studio is incredible, although you don't have to use the studio to enjoy the comfort and beauty of the rooms for the night. As I'm just beginning in the quilting world, I was amazed at how many different machines, tables, design boards, and BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS!||||Any time I am heading through NW Oregon or traveling through Portland, I will make sure I have reservations here. And as long as she's well-behaved and has her shots, my dog can come, too, with prior authorization. And it's only 30-ish minutes from PDX! ||||Thank you SO much, Jane for letting people into your home, feeding our bellies, and allowing us to enjoy your haven.
